For a long time now I’ve split my browsers between Chrome for personal stuff and Firefox for business. The exception is the customers I administer that have moved to Google Business.

For the last 6 months at least, probably more, I’ve noticed Chrome dragging it’s heels and sometimes giving up altogether, especially if left open but not used. I’ve copied the affected url into Firefox and it’s been fine. Sometimes I have to restart Chrome to get anything moving.

I did wonder if it was something to do with the customers profiles being managed by their Google domain settings and maybe conflicting rules. But a clean install ruled that out.

I finally had enough today and have imported everything into Edge- it even did the browser extensions – as I still want that separation. So far, so good. Kaspersky’s password manager works in a slightly different way but that may just need a trip to settings.

Unless there’s a major change I will only be using Chrome when I have to and TBF it’s working fine in the Chrome ecosystem, as Edge does in the MS world. I’m just trying to work out when I made the move in the opposite direction. A decade?

I agree – Chrome is a total horrible car-wreck both from privacy and memory management issues. Unfortunately Raspberry Pi did a deal with the devil and it is the default engine on a new Pi, and it makes initial setup a real pain due to its grabbing all the very limited resources.

Chrome is a really nasty bit of spyware, but if you must use it apparently Google have just issued a memory management kludge.

So strange, the guy on there Steve? Is Jason D, doppelganger from the MM days. Lol.

I send him a message some times: Get yer hair cut.
