It was 23.c in my garden this morning. I have not been sleeping well this past few hot days and nodded off in my chair this aft while tapping away at the laptop and woke 3 hours later to find grey skies, drizzle and the barometer in the garden showing 10.c with a nip in the air, just how I like it. I suspect there should be some thunder about tonight.

Been cool here today, anywhere from 10-14 C, also been cloudy so no need for the aircon in the car.

Thunderstorms are threatened for some parts of the country, doubt it’ll happen here though.

Wow, it was in the high 20s here up to 29 at times which made the trips to the hospital a warm affair even with all of the windows and doors of the unit open.

Now it has dropped – to 23.4 in the garden and very sticky. The dogs quite like it while trying to stop the lawn floating away by lying out flat.

Started off at 19°C here this morning. Went all the way to 25°C and is now slowing down to 23°C. Been out for SWMBO’s consultation with her Hip Mechanic and shopping, but SWMBO is laid out by a combination of disbelief at being reminded (once again) that it takes as long as 12 months to fully recover from her Op, and heat. I love it and start removing layers and wearing shorts, she will not do that. I also wear a natty hat to protect my solar panel, she won’t do that either. ( although she has no shortage of hair)

We have now had almost a week of great weather, and the farmers are grateful, as all the wet stuff was a worry for them about their crops. Bloody Yellow Menace (rape seed plants) is all over the place and about 4 feet high, I can taste the stuff driving about.

Enjoyed yesterday, as in my other Thread. Tomorrow I pick up the new car, the Hyundai i20X. Idea is to fill up and head for the Northeast Lincolnshire horizon, AKA Cleethorpes, which will be not as packed with grockles after the Bank Holiday is history. Thursday up to Beverley, E. Yorks, to see my consultant for a rearranged, earlier appointment. Probably then head for the E. Yorks coast and Hornsea or Withernsea. I will really miss the Tucson, which has been the most comfortable drive we have ever had, but we struggle to get in it and SWMBO has to do a sort of controlled crash to get out. Sometimes I even stop giggling and help her up.??

I don’t like to waste the good weather and I am determined to get out and about.

Bob, I trust you are still able to enjoy good weather today. With us it is slightly cooler but at just about 22 degrees it is far from being unpleasant and the garden can get some more attention. It certainly needs the efforts as everything is really growing with the mixture of warm, wet, and hot sunny days.

Yes Richard and the growth is more evident amongst the weed population! Be glad when my lady gardener comes, neither of us can get down in the dirt anymore.

Today it’s a bit cooler at 19°, thanks to the offshore breezes. In about 15 minutes I am off to collect the new Motability car, so it’s off with the shorts and into trousers.

By way of something different, I have an appointment at Grimsby hospital with an new consultant: Oncology. Mystified as to why and a bit concerned, but it’s a trip out and probably another coastal excursion.

Oncology? Ah you mean what is fast becoming second home… My wife is now getting calls from sundry support people which all makes things come more clearly into focus. We got the parking permit yesterday. I might laminate it as I feel it will be getting a lot of use.

You have the right attitude, deal positively and treat it as a day out, which it is come hail or shine. I am, going to suggest that it could be a precautionary course for you, or a discussion of options for your post operative management.

Hoping your last paragraph is the correct version Richard. I really feel so much better now, if only this lower back spasm would settle down. Always ready to face another setback, but not needing one!

The sunshine helps of course. Drove the Tucson north up the A16 to swop for a new i20X today. The A16 is what passes for a major south to north artery in our part of the world: single carriageway all the way from Boston to Grimsby, carries European freight from the Humber docks. Today we saw the result of a £17 million government grant* to our Lincolnshire Highways: at least 10 miles of Convoyed, one-way traffic as whole stretches were resurfaced and GRRRRRitted (!) It took me at least an extra 45 minutes to travel 20 miles, some stretches at 10 MPH. We then went up to Cleethorpes, just a few miles further north. On return, I diverted East across the A1031 Coast Road, perhaps adding another 8 miles but the journey was much shorter in time, took us through beautiful countryside and I know all the shortcuts through country lanes.

TBH, you could stick a blue rosette on a horse around here and it would stand a good chance of election. Come to think of it, a view of the benches in Westminster might make one believe that scenario has already taken place.?
