      @admin

      Has anybody noticed Forumite has been slowing down over the Easter weekend?? I’ve had a couple of internal 500 errors and it’s just been treacly. Only 5 users logged in at most, so not overburdened there.

      Also – who washed the Submit button and shrank it??

        Not that bad for me – only when posting, when it does hang a little.

          I did think I had fixed the problem yesterday but it’s still coming to a crawl today. As for the submit button, duno, looks big and bold to me but it may not be in other areas so ill that to the never ending list. :unsure:

            Yesterday and today, slow and 2x “Internal Server Error” messages, then blinked out. Using the highly technical ‘switch off & on again’ procedure, I closed FFox, restarted and all ticketty-boo for a moment. Then slowed again.

            I’ll hang around for a bit, then leave it for Dr. Lee to apply treatment. Submit button is fine for me, but I only view now on 8″ tablet or 24″ monitor.

                Submit button is back to normal now – thanks. Viewed on 24″ monitor.

                  I have changed a few server settings to see if things speed up today but I’ll just have to see how it goes day by day.

                      Much better than yesterday evening, and better than MM’s efforts.

                        Seems better for now but I have my monitor open to keep an eye on live cpu usage “Memory and Disk use as always been fine”.

                            Cheers Lee, that’s great now. Much smoother and crisper. All your hard work is really appreciated.

                              I wonder if there were slow network problems. Early this morning it was really motoring for me, then it slowed a bit, then it went back to normal speed. I wondered if school holidays over Easter had affected things.

                                Nope. I think it is 3 problems. 1. A cron job running every few minutes “Now set for 23.00 and 9.00” 2. Awstats updating it’s statistics, this will explain the 5 – 6 pm slowdown. This is now removed as I don’t use it. And finally 3. Not sure yet or even if it exists but I think I still need to disable a few more services introduced by webmin/virtualmin.

                                Saying all the above I do think I’ll have to go for a better CPU at some point but I will drag this out as far as I can for now!

                                  What’s it running on Lee? – people could be discarding something that’s no good for their PC requirements but that would suit the Forum’s server needs better than the current set-up??

                                      He is saying maybe some formite may be able to donate there old Desktop kit, if it’s got more grunt than the server your current using.

                                      Though today I’ve not noticed the slow down. Yesterday was bad.

                                      Well relatively bad, it was as about on par with the old mm site.

                                            The forum runs on a dedicated server some were down south in an high end data center “Gloucester if I remember correctly” . Granted, it would make my life easier if I had a fast connection and could run the server in my kitchen cupboard or my garden shed data center :yahoo: .
