Forum Layout Question

As you can see in the Index area “Here” the forums are slimmer but in the latest replies “Here” the forum is full width with no info down the side. How many would have issues with the latest replies looking like the index with info down the side? This is desktop only.

These changes will give me a bit more flexibility. I will also be working at getting the side info slimmer and stretch the forum.

I rarely use the DT site, but prefer the clean look of Number 2. To me the info in that side bar is  usless the wait is. If it had my inbox counter and some nav buttons like recent, and say an evolving list of my regular forums I frequent. Then id find it useful.

However I don’t know what your plans are for that box, so it may be awesome and we just dont know it.

On mobile I always miss PMs I find the messages Inbox tab is too far down the list, and I rarely scroll that for Down, so I’d like ‘recent’ and ‘inbox’ to be the top two options on the hamburger menu.

New version looks great on the desktop Lee, but I have a 24″ monitor so it would. Bearing in mind that I have poor sight now, I would prefer that version as OK. But I think someone with a smaller monitor needs to answer. For me, it’s fine.

The text size is same so should not pose a problem.

Ive set the forum Index to full page more or less and looks ok. Just need to sort mobile out for sgb.

Also on a 24″ monitor, but I much prefer the wider version. The wider layout puts more on the screen.

I prefer 1 but tbh I could live with 2 no problem

Going off topic for this thread, the reply visible when NOT logged in to demand login and return to same place would be very helpful. I stay logged off unless I want to respond. Of course I may be the odd one out as usual.

I wasn’t making a suggestion, I was highlighting why the side bloat is of little use atm in its current form.

Looks alot cleaner without it. only if you was to add something that is useful to the majority would it be worth adding back it. Thou tbh I don’t really care, as I don’t normally use the DT version.<span style=”font-size: 16px;”> </span>

Liking the blue bar between posts – makes the reply/quote/edit easier to see, and it is brighter than the grey. :good:

Post number, while not very important, would be easier to read in black than yellow.

Yep, it’s getting there now. Few more adjustments now and I’ll be happy and can start thinking about coaksing a few more mebembers this way. Thats the plan anyhow, can’t have people coming to tip. 😉

Either works fine using Pale Moon, so what ever is easiest for you.

OT. The Forumite banner at the top of the page (Home/Forums etc) became too deep & covered the top of the topic for several days, if the browser wasn’t the full screen width. Anyway, whatever you did has corrected it. I seem to detest having anything in full screen mode. :scratch:

Also shows I read the new posts every day even though I don’t sign in.
