Does anyone know of a good flight tracker? Preferably free – I will probably only ue it once or thrice. Preferably superimposed on a ground map.

A couple of years ago when I wanted one, there were two or three to choose from, but now they seem not to be there any more

THIS is one from a while ago that I used. Still works.

What JCD said. I have the pro version. Free is fine.

            Alternatively, you could try https://planefinder.net

                Thanks JCD, I’ve downloaded that.

                  Thanks Folk.

IIRC it was Flight Radar I used a couple of years back, but then it really was “live” and you could track the planes into LHR (or anywhere else for that matter) but now it is “dead” – no movement at all. To simulate movement you have to keep restarting the flight – unless I am missing something.

Flight Radar works just fine here, both the Android app and the website.

Same here. I can watch planes going down the runway if I zoom in.

Certain planes do not appear in real time e.g. El Al  etc.

If you have an iPhone or iPad get the flier to send a message to you with the Airline and flight number – e.g. British Airways BA1234.  Open the message and touch the details and the flight tracker will automatically open.

A Ha. They are moving again, even if they are all overshooting the runway!  Still better than nothing. Using Flightradar24
