I have decided I am a little more happy with my android phone now. I installed arrow launcher from Microsoft :good: and for what ever reason my device feels much more friendly to use. I have been using it for a week now and at a guess I am using my phone 70% more for general email duties, browsing etc… I have also chucked FF in there to and all is good now.

Glad to hear that – a launcher that feels right makes a big difference  – and can also hide a lot of manufacturer bloat (e.g. Samsung).

I think the Firefox mobile browser is still very good, and its the main thing the keeps me using the desktop version (which I find is getting slower and fussier year on year).

Not tried Arrow – I use Nova by default but might have a nose next time I’m tinkering

They’ve just announced a new campaign to get people to use it – link. I must admit, I was a fan, but Chrome does syncing much better and is the sole reason I keep it around as the built in Firefox one is pretty poor I’ve found in the past. I keep Firefox around because it runs some plugins that aren’t on Chrome which I use regularly (Zotero being the main one, which I use almost daily at work).

RSB – glad you’re getting on with it. Don’t tell anyone, but I’m running Android now as well. Well, I’ve not abandoned the walled garden of Apple but I now have to carry two phones for work – the work one is an iPhone 7, so I got myself a Moto G5 Plus 😉 The launchers are a hidden gem. I’ve switched to Nova myself, partly because I’ve used it in the past. It’s almost identical to the stock Moto launcher, but when I open a folder/stack of apps, the background of the folder is not transparent now, so I can actually see what I’m bloody clicking on! I had seen Arrow somewhere recently – might have to have a play, especially as changing the launcher doesn’t delete the settings of the previous one so you can easily switch back.

@admin – Lee, what phone are you using now?

I’m looking to get the MotoG5 – I’ve been keeping an eye on it for a while now, since before it was released. Despite having big hands, it’s more my head that thinks the G5 Plus is too big. I’m getting there ( in stages:) ) though. The Nokia N8 was 3.5, the Z3 Compact is 4.6 and the G5 is 5.0. I’m comfortable with that. I’m looking to get the Dual Sim from Amazon, not because I need 2 sims, but because it has 3Gig memory as opposed to the 2Gig in the single sim version.  :good:

Mum has the G5 plus and it’s not that big ‘in the hand’ and the camera is a better one than the G5. Whether that’s important to you is another thing.

@jayceedee I am still using my old chiphone. Still plenty of life in it even though the screen is cracked to hell 🙂

I also have ccleaner on here to get rid of all the unwanted build up.

I thought you might have been playing with a new one.:)

PM – I looked at the plus – it felt like it was less of a comfortable fit than the G5, I also prefer the removeable battery in the G5 to the permanently fitted one in the Plus. There’s not a lot in it with respect to the cameras except the video is 2160 – 1080 is fine for me.?

I have Powercleaner on my WileyFox. It collects all Notifications, shows them and gives the option of removing them. If I remove them, it then cleans up and can even reduce CPU heat by (I think) slowing it down if it’s in the Red.

After seeing your post, I thought I’d give arrow a try.

Maybe it’s just perception, I don’t know, but my phone definitely feels quicker. Running Nexus 5, lineage is 14

I thought the same. It has given my old phone a new lease of life. Well it like it to me anyhow.
