I purchased the below PC Sept last year I have been using it with Windows 11 daily. I upgraded it to an M.2 SSD
Xenta MT Intel Core i3 8GB RAM 240GB SSD WiFi No OS Desktop PC
Intel Core i3 10105F 3.7 GHz
8GB RAM + 240GB SSD
3 Year Warranty (1yr parts 3yr labour)Yesterday I was using it, shut down as norm came to use it and it won’t fire / start / no life in it.
I contacted (email) the online shop, I keep thinking have I voided the warranty by adding (opening case) the M.2 SSD.
I’m not sure what to do as the CPU now has Win 10 and 11 activated (my cost) if I RMA I will lose the activation.
Do I forget the warranty and seek the fault myself, but if it turns out to be the CPU then ?
Cheers
JohnJanuary 17, 2022 at 5:01 pm #69080John, you should have gone to — Linux.
Les.
January 18, 2022 at 10:10 am #69088John, before you panic, check the silly things like the mains wiring connection. It could be something simple like the plug not being fully in the socket.
January 18, 2022 at 10:26 am #69089PS. Sorry for the late response.
I was busy yesterday setting up a PC for our 9 year old G’Son. It took three times as long as it should as I made the mistake of ‘locking it down’ before trying to install the full Educational plus Java plus Server editions of Minecraft. I was also frustrated by the way the software protection then locked me out of useful reference sites such as ‘Instructables’. In retrospect it was a pretty stupid error as it left me struggling to subvert the lockdown far too frequently!
January 18, 2022 at 10:26 am #69090Thanks Les
Linux or Windows wouldn’t make any difference to the startup.
Thanks Ed
I was using it-shut down-no longer works nothing had changed the plug had’t moved nor the rig
It was the first thing I checked, I even tried a brand new power cable. It’s like no power (PSU, maybe) I am dying to check but trying to sort out the warranty (is it void as I have opened the case to install M.2 SSD and a -DVD Rom
Cheers
JohnJanuary 18, 2022 at 2:44 pm #69091I’d personally start with the easiest thing to fix.
Take out (or swap) ALL your USB kit. In particular remove a USB hub if you are using one. A faulty USB hub can totally stuff the boot sequence and im my experience USB kit is the most likely to cause a failure as it is often cheap and nasty. As you have a total power failure you can even remove the keyboard etc and just look for signs of life.
If that does not solve the problem there are plenty of simple steps to follow before you RMA the kit.
try this link, but omit all the bits which may spoil your warranty.

January 18, 2022 at 5:12 pm #69093John, no, of course linux would not prevent the start up problem, but you are worried about losing your paid for Micro$oft licence if you rma it. That would not be a concern. No offence I hope, Les.
January 21, 2022 at 9:48 pm #69101Cheers both
I took out all the USBs I swapped the power supply it was just dead. I did an RMA , they collected it yesterday. The RMA said straight swap, I said about my Windows licence wouldn’t work etc, not heard from them.
I don’t know what happens next, I will have to wait and see.

JohnJanuary 21, 2022 at 10:07 pm #69102You could always just go ahead and try the online activation with your old Key – it’s all new hardware after all.
If it doesn’t work, then getting a ‘new’ working computer, using a fresh key, for the same cost or less than a repair, seems fair to me.👍👍
January 23, 2022 at 8:29 am #69103Will have to see, JayCee how it comes back.
I struggle to find trusted keys, last time I had one off ebay, came to use it weeks later. It didn’t work, the seller said it has to be used within 24hrs?
Cheers

That’s BS – hiding behind a time lag!! I’ve just bought one ( in mid-Nivember ) from Aclab.

I used Aclab myself again the other day, always reliable.I had a bit of a problem activating the W10Pro key from them, but they persevered.👍👍 The first key they sent had been used 30 times, according to the MS phone activation line, after it blew out the online activation. But give them their due, they sent another straight away…… which also failed online. Emailed the guy back and it was third time lucky, but it took me best part of that day!! That £10 plus some time has to be better than a £50 CD with a ‘unique key’ or £100+ from M$!!
January 24, 2022 at 7:42 am #69105I agree BS but I never got a new one nor my money back. in 2017 I purchased some keys off the bay, I used the last one yesterday (on another rig) and that activated.
Where do I find Aclab.
Cheers

JohnFebruary 8, 2022 at 8:42 pm #69173It arrived back and now fires. Working fine as it was before, with the same SSD and Win 11 (new key not needed).
I don’t know what fixed it, they just sent it back working.
It’s nice to be using it again.
Cheers
