WHY?Why?Why? I spent at maybe an hour writing a message, then I was required to log in again. Goodbye message!

I am writing now in “Writer” from which I hope to copy safely when finished.

First, a message for RSB. I tried to change my email address details, but just got in a muddle. Will you change it for me please from “existing”@manx.net to “existing”@yahoo.co.uk .

Now my problem, and it relates to the above.

Manx Telecom, my internet provider recently announced that for the last year, they had used JUNARA to handle all the @manx.net accounts. After 20 years, they had decided they were no longer supporting FREE emails. Free? You must have a current account with them. They get almost £80 per month off me, and I am a miser client without smartphone and its always on access.

Well, I can keep the @manx.net if I pay Junara about £10 per month. SOD THEM!

So it will disappear on Jan 21st!

I wanted to avoid the “big ones!, such as Hotmail, and Gmail etc., so tried all the highly recommended “Free” emails. Many require an 01 phone number, some won’t work in Isle of man (something Brexit related???) and of course most “Free” ones expect you to pay anyway. I did find one that was recommended, Proton.me, but if I wanted it through Thunderbird, PAY! And I do want to access through Thunderbird.

I now have the Proton as my webmail back up should I need one.

So it looked like mainstream. A pal moved to Yahoo, and thought it OK, so I will try it.

It turns out I created one in about 2010, and trying “lost password” I quickly logged in to it.

Initially, I can only access it through webmail, but if I go into my account settings, I can “Enable Yahoo Mail IMAP Access” and it will work with thunderbird.

To open account settings, it needs two part confirmation. It knows of my @manx.net email, but wants a second, offering a few choices. Only sending a code to my (very basic) mobile phone is a suggested method. OK, try that. I can’t remember if they already had it, or I gave it then, but it was entered thus +4476244nnnn5. The +44 for UK, the (0)7624 for Isle of Man mobiles followed by my local number, 4nnnn5.

But no 6 digit code arrives. Phone sits silent. Paypal and my bank system frequently send codes, and it always works! Twice in the last few days.

I asked DuckAI if it had answers, but everything suggested I had already tried. I removed AdBloc for Yahoo, but no change. I tried changing to my wife’s mobile, but no luck. Changed number back to my own, but still nothing. There is a Yahoo expert you can speak to, but before access, you need that 6 digit number. Obviously Yahoo do not follow their own rules.

Are there any brains here who can suggest how to solve this?

      Thanks all, Les.
