      hi all

i have really sensitive skin especially on my top lip.  even using a brand new blade on my lovely gillette fusion pro power, exfoliating before, applying balm after etc i get damaged, red skin that dries and flakes after a few days.

so, i thought i would try an electric shaver again (had one years back when i first started shaving and got rashy so i stopped).

my budget needs to be under £100 so i reduced it to be either the Braun 3080 or panasonic es-rf41.

so, any other suggestions, opinions on these 2 and cheapest places to buy all welcome.

      thanks, marc

I have much the same problem but it covers my whole face. My beard grows in swirls so i cant shave with or against the grain. I can wet shave once but it leaves raised red bumps around the base of the stubble. If i try it again the next day then the rasor takes the tops off the bumps leaving me a mess. The only rasor I can use is the Philips rotary type but the one I have was about £200.

I use a Panasonic job, best I’ve had by a long shot and I also suffer with skin issues on my head and face.

No idea why but this one causes less issues than any of the other ones I’ve had and the battery lasts quite well.

Watch out on Amazon, I cannot now remember what I paid but it was about half price for a Phillips 18 months back.

However, if you are having skin problems I suspect that it might be down to more than the razor. Soaps, shaving creams and after shaves could be the root of the issue. Treatments are available though those based on Minocycline, (doctor only) can cause severe problems if you are the wrong genetic type.

              Hi guys.

Woke up to an Amazon email regarding discounts and low and behold the braun 5040 had been reduced to less than £60. Less than the lower 3 series. I think it is usually closer to £100 so I’ve ordered that.

              Good timing that one

I have sensitive skin, not a fan of wet shaving, and my face has never got on with a dry electric shaver. I train one that took lotion, which was expensive, and not good.

As unless it’s a must I never close shave. What I do is use a beard trimmer, and a cut through.

Nothing can beat a cut throat for closeness and ease of getting rid of awkward hair patches  that shift direction etc. Also best for trimming straight lines, and doesn’t give you a rash once you can use one.

Mine is slight different being 4 years old. My son has had one that is 2 years old that is different again. (all same model number).

Duke. I use your method when I can get away with it. I have the Philips RQ1175 and it comes with a beard trimmer attatchment that I use without the guard.

I also have sensitive skin. (SWMBO comments that it is the only sensitive part of me) :negative:

I use Gillette Blue II razors, the cheap ones, as anything else, even the most expensive wet razors, make absolutely no difference. I have used and discarded several electric shavers in the past: they damage my skin more than any wet razors. I use Nivea shaving gel and Nivea after shave balm, which cools my face and really does protect my skin. I have mentioned on the forum before that I have a Lymph System problem which can give me boils and other infections. This routine seems to have kept the problem at bay.

I have a moustache though, because I suffer the same top lip soreness that Marc talks about. Actually, I have worn a ‘tache since service in N.I. in the 70’s. My missus has only ever seen me without it once, when I decided to remove it. She took one look, laughed like a drain and said “Grow it back!” I’m still trying to work that one out….

I am also cursed with a facial family heirloom: a large hairy mole on the left cheek, apparently decorating Williams faces for at least the last 7 generations. I have photos of granddad, dad and others with the same mole. One of my nieces was a small girl with a large example in exactly the same place, and opted to have it removed. It became infected after surgery and took several weeks to recover, leaving a nasty scar which meant more surgery. Other family members with the ancestral lump, have decided to let well alone… But it does occasionally object to being shaved, which leaks A Rhesus Neg all over my jaw. :negative:  🙁

I am also afflicted with excessive body hair, as is my son: when my No.1 gson was small, he referred to us as “Granddad and uncle Furry”. :yahoo:    I use a Babyliss trimmer to help control my Neandertal appearance –   https://tinyurl.com/lpckf3v

The nivea sensitive moisturiser is brilliant, always use that when I need a clean shave, which is rare these days. Usually the first time I meet a potential client

From Xmas eve untill the 1st of May, I let my beard grow. My mustache was awesome,  little twisted sides the Lot. Only kept it going so long cos the wife hated it  :yahoo:

But to be honest it was a bit of a choir, brushing,  trimming and oiling it each day. It looked good, but I got fed up.

Back to sensitive skin. All my life I’ve avoided soaps. Johnsons PH shower cream was the best ever, but they tweeked it then replaced it with crap.

About 6 months ago someone mentioned giving “Natural Glycerin soap” a go.

I got some unscented stuff, (I also hate artificial  smells), and I love it. It’s brilliant, hardly drys my skin at all, and I love not having an oder. The only smell I like is butter cream moisturiser. But since the swap to this soap, I hardly have to moisturise.

This isn’t cheap, and it can be had cheaper, but love it so much, I’ll buy the exact pack again next time.

As shady as THESE Steve:    https://tinyurl.com/5yvho     ..?

That’s Forest’s new sponsor, goes with the Greek billionaire shipping tycoon who just bought the club for £50 million from the Kuwaiti Fawaz Al Hasawi, who obviously could not take the pace, as he was only a millionaire. He is the one who sacked 3 managers in our last season, and almost dropped us into League One.

It looks like Evangelos Marinakis is just the Bent Bugga we need, he is trying to set the club on a good business footing. But If he gets banged up for match-fixing, we are back to square One, although out of debt. Temporarily…

Forest supporters are never bored. Often P****d off, sometimes fed up, occasionally angry, but never bored. 152 years old, 3rd oldest club in English football. It’s all probably happened before…   😥

Sadly bob yes, they was a british outfit that was chartered to go an “finance” operations in Africa and india. About 200years ago.

They merged into one about 50 years ago. But they are never far from scandal.

Comically they have a clause in there LFC deal that if they don’t think a player is right for the SC brand they can force the club to sell them.

Blimey Steve I thought Forest had transfer troubles, the club has only just come out of the (unfair) ‘Fair Play’ transfer rules embargo. So a decidedly shady financial sponsor can tell one of the most successful and best-known clubs in English football, to sell a player they don’t like?

That is disgusting. BTW, just watched MoTD 2 on iPlayer, what a player that Couthino is,  quick feet, great ability. Hope you keep him. Or send him on loan to the City Ground…. :yahoo:

Don’t know if BlackLion will appreciate that though!

From memory I can’t recall beating west ham since the 2007/8(ish) cup final.

We probably have, bit I can only remember the defeats. Actually feel abit sad for West ham, 12 months ago, everything was great, and and a push towards the top group looked on. What a diffence 12months make. Well 3 months for West ham.

I don’t really know the inside and outs of forest but heard on the radio they have just been taken over, and the fans seemed happy on the phone im? I’ve not looked into it.

Couts isn’t a bad player. He isn’t as good as the football press make home out to be. When I he is on it, he is a proving world class, but he does go missing alot.

Lalana is our guy, with out him setting the pace, we look stale. Klopp spoke about last week, that he wants to move couts back, into the midfield, behind lalana, it would mean less width, but would give him more time on the ball, in the “half space”. West ham seemed to be the first time he had tried it out.

I reckon if we fail on Sunday, he is gone, I would be, and I’m a lifelong Liverpool fan. Also a Spain sunshine fan over the rainy NW Eng. But if we make the CL, I think we may get another year before he goes.

To keep him them we will of had to win the league or the CL, neither is likely.

so i got my shaver for fathers day.

it does take quite a few passes to get some of the hairs but overall it is almsot as close as a wet shave and less irritation. so, i’m happy
