Up to a point, I agree. But they shift millions of each new release, and they’re always eagerly awaited. So there’s a steady, undiminished market, even for the “HD” retreads of older titles. Like I say, if the company is turning a profit, if a small one, and maintaining its profile in the market, why would it be all that concerned if the Xbox outsells it. As far as I know, Microsoft has never made a cent out of its Xbox division, so which company is really the most successful?

Volume for vanity; profit for sanity.

I agree, it amazes me that MS is still doing it. They have spent alot of money to build a brand. I think there endgame is now the games for windows, get all the xbox games work on pc and phase out the physical medium.

Basically try and out do steam, or at the latest a competing platform. If they can get EA to give them some exclusives on digital fifa,or a exclusive on that war game (name alludes me)  it will give alot of people a reason to install,  or use the Windows store.

Google once said about the then Market Place, the hard part is getting people to input there payment details, once they have done that and you have friction free transactions, people will not only buy, but use the free stuff more. And that is what Ms needs, a reason for you to give them your details.

IMO the biggest factor AMD have going for them is that Intel’s leaked plans for this year and even next, seem at best underwhelming. Not so much Tick Tock, but rather Tock tock tock! The 14nm die seems to be a problem which raises huge question marks for the 10nm and lower versions. Intel’s focus seems to be on power consumption rather than grunt giving AMD a bit of catchup time.

Definitely playing the long game, MS. Longer than they imagined, I suspect — the original Xbox is over 15 years old.

Well, i did build it, but to be honest its sat under the desk idle for nearly a year. So im glad i didn’t shell out too much. Its also sat their the only machine receiving emails about forumite.  Hence my somewhat extended absence from ‘da scene’.

Any body know how to white list on hotmail 😛

I think the ‘good enough’ factor is the major one holding back PC building/tuning etc. There is very like point busting a gut for a few more fps or flops as even games like Kingdom Come Deliverance do not have outrageous hardware requirements unless you have a full 4K screen and want a willy waving 100fps.

At the minimum level a 3-4 year old PC should still be able to play this hardware demanding game .link

Excluding 4K 60fps, even Far Cry 5 does not need a state of the art box. link

As said before if you want building challenges just move towards a Pi or Arduino. Lots of varied challenges at (almost) pocket money prices.
