I think I am being stalked by some evil spirit. On my way back home from a dentist’s my tyre pressure warning light came on. So I get my portable cigarette lighter tyre inflator and the damn thing just went haywire on me. I get my phone out and do a google voice search to see if it’s a common problem with them and my phone goes haywire. It froze, it rebooted, it turned blue, motorola logo turned purple… all of those things and maybe more in random sequence. There don’t seem to be a pattern. Actually, google voice search always crashes it when I eventually, after all sorts of funny phenomena, manage to bring it back to life. So if I don’t use google search it seems fine. But when I try to check for updates it says can’t update check connection. It has not been updated in a few months. Any ideas what I can do to figure this out? It’s not the latest cyanogenmod whartever it is. My phone has the older one. Peregrine?

Cyanogenmod changed to Lineage OS now.  I haven’t tried it yet but I was on the last cyanogenmod for the falcon moto g and i had no problems.

My Wileyfox Swift updated to Android Nougat 7.1.1 about 2 months ago, after Cyanogen Mod died. It ran 5.01 (I think) as a temporary measure at first, then the update came in overnight. My missus’ Wfox Spark is forecasted to update to 7.1.1 sometime in June.

CM is an ex-parrot I’m afraid.

Do you have the Motorola G 4G Tad Ka?

Yes, it’s the Moto G 4G. I found out about the CM’s demise after a bit of googling. Tried installing the LineageOS but failed. Fortunately it did not brick my phone and it started again. But it was like a new installation start. And it has fixed the problem. I made a post on the LineageOS Reddit page about it asking for help but as I only just register it won’t be for 24 hrs before it goes live.

Here is a copy in case some of you have the required understanding  🙂

My phone (Moto G 4G, XT1039) started crashing today so I tried to flash the LineageOS. I was on CM 13.0, I think, at least that what it says now, to my surprise my phone wasn’t bricked. I followed the instructions – ADB/Fastboot, checked it’s unlocked, I have ClockworkMod. But the install failed. I then googled a bit and found old instructions which said to do some wipes so I did that (I somehow missed that part in the original instructions) but still no luck. Any ideas what went wrong? This is what it said:

              “Installing: /sdcard/0/ROM(whatever the name is).zip

              Finding update package…

              Opening update package…

              Installing update…

unmount of /system failed; no such volume

              Patching system image unconditionally…

E1001: Failed to update system image.

              E: unknown command [log]

              E:Error in /data/media/0/ROM.zip

              (status 7)

              Installation aborted

EDIT: I didn’t know what adb push was so I just copy/pasted ROM.zip from computer to phone over USB.”

You should just re flash your original factory image back up to took. If you didn’t. I’m sure it’s quite easy to hunt down the latest os img for the 4g.

I was a huge fan of CM but I never bothered to flash a stock phone, the benifit es of having CM was outweighed, greatly, my Thr negatives of having an insecure bootloader, and all the broken apps that come with that. Never mind the reduced quality of photos. Though I’m not sure photos is an issue with the 4g. I don’t think moto have any trick photo software. Thr kids 4g seem to take decent pics for a £140 phone. Nothing special, but come along way since the first moto g and it’s potato lens.

Keep blowing the trumpet for our Wfoxes I know, but I paid just £99.99 for my Swift (on a Black Friday deal, but was £119.99 before that.) and a bit less for SWMBO’s Spark. They both take good photos: every photo I attach here is from my Swift.

After some digging about I found out that some newer ROMs don’t flash with the Clockworkmod (which was what I had) They require a newer version TWRP. So flashed the TWRP and the flashing of LineageOS went very smoothly. I have to say I am very impressed. A very polished and pleasant to use OS.

I have just been given a samsung GT -S6810P android phone. Looks like it may have been rooted as its runing android 4.1.2. I wanted to reset it but it keeps coming up with the Odin loader which fails. Any ideas ?

                        Does it have custom recovery?

Reviving this one due to domestic pressure. ??

As I previously stated, my Swift updated to Android 7 Nougat automatically overnight, no problems. Now, despite extensive searches everywhere I can think of, I cannot find an update for SWMBO’s Spark. (the original Spark, not the X) No such update or upgrade is listed on any site. All I can find is the Lineage O/S, which also has no update for the Spark, just the Swift and Storm.

I have contacted Wfox and asked for help with this. SWMBO’s phone was not expensive, but it would be an expensive paperweight if it dies completely after the O/S dies. Anyone have any ideas?

                          TY in advance guys.

                                Thanks, Edp & PM:

Ed thank you but I had already been there, no joy.

PM: thank you but I have received an astonishingly fast response from Wileyfox, after having a polite moan on the site.

                                Response:

                                Hello

                                Thank you for your email.

Please don’t despair the reason you haven’t been able to find the update is due to it not being released yet.

We are just putting some finishing touches to it and it should be released in the next couple of weeks.

                                Kind Regards

I first received an auto response, within 10 minutes, then within 2 hours the above message dropped into my mailbox. Now that’s proper Customer service! It has relieved certain marital pressures….? ???
