@RSB your buying an android phone! If you don’t like google, that’s fine, but ad soon as you say I’m getting and Android but I hate Google, and I you should like an idiot!

I gave you an opinion, even said the phone was decent, showing it compared with the old moto g3, as an example to where it stood in performance terms

Your the one that returned with, i won’t by moto as it’s Google, (not been for 3 years but that don’t matter). Now that is your business and I know you don’t like Google and a Co, but surly your ideology is flawed, as your still willing to buy a Google phone, but but not off Google.

I know your reasons why you don’t like google, and It probably the reason you have distanced yourself from Ms, ad they have turned out worse at farming Data, but are sly about it, but to dismiss one over the other is silly.

I don’t care if you Like android, I Google, Ms Apple for united. (well the united thing I’ll look over), but this started out as a simple question.

If you don’t like Google so much why even consider a Google phone, thst will give Google all the info. No matter where you buy it from.

Well you could put a customer rom on and not give Google any Data, but you do have to buy a more popular dev centric phone. The Ironically in your price bracket, that phone is the Moto G lol. I wouldn’t recommend it tho. But it would save your google issue.

Non of this post was android related.More attitude related! It started out as you asking about a phone them reying with a childish attitude.

All they had down at the shop was a galaxy note 1 which was £100 and seemed very expensive to me.

Without taking sides in this dispute RSB you confirmed what I found when I went out a few moments ago. The phones are all huge whatever they are. For some, perhaps many people they might be fine, but you either need the shirt off a large gorilla or a brief case to put them into and for me, that is a major drawback. To be fair I only looked in Tesco and did not speak to anyone since I am not a Tesco mobile user.  That was a large price to be asked for an old device but if someone will pay that much, someone will sell it to them.

I hope you do better than I have done every time I have been hunting, I either get confused or depressed by what I find and my needs are very modest. I will try the network’s own shop over the next few days.

Sony Z3 Compact – lovely smaller phone, still very capable and modestly priced for a good’un 2nd hand. Had one for a while, sold it on for what I paid, really is a nice phone if you want something compact. I think the only concession from the full Z3 is screen res (720 vs 1080 I think)

You give me hope, I will look again when I can get free. Granddaughter is apparently auditioning with us tomorrow as a pillar box with excess spots, it should be fun, NOT. I am not sure about second hand and I really do not want to spend a fortune, my daughter and son in law have gone through such phones ‘rapidly’ as each was reduced to it almost elemental form.

2nd hand is how I’ve been going for a while – care is needed but £100-£150 gets you a real gem – a premium phone from a year or two back. The same money will get you a very decent new phone, but I prefer the slightly older premiums. The Z3 Compact is an absolute belter if your want something smaller – sturdy (fit a tempered glass screen protector) and waterproof (ish).

I’m in the Samsung “S” camp (too big for you) but will probably jump ship when my S5 gives up the ghost. Probably go LG as the battery/SD card combination suits my use.

                  Each to their own though.

Most of my family get on fine with their 4.5″ Moto Es but I see the new version E3 with 4G is now a 5″.

Heck of a lot of phone for £8.50 a month with 250 mins 500GB from Tesco mobile or £80 sim free on Amazon http://tinyurl.com/jkybawq

I have a few family members onThe the Moto E (2015) 4g. It was a bargain at £125 (when new), and then not long after they dropped the 3g version (with wasn’t good) and the 4g was £75 on Amazon for ages I get 3 at that price.

The 4.5″ size is nice. Though I’m struggling on a 5″ device at the moment. The new moto g4 is 5.5″ and feels nice in the hand.

I know nothing about the chiphone CUBOT, however I do know about the chiphone ELEPHONE. It has been extremely reliable and afaik without spyware (ex Google’s stuff. In use it has matched or outmatched my wife’s Moto G3 in all quarters. I have also been able to get replacement batteries two years after purchasing it. Although a Chiphone the oem is based in HongKong and seems focused on the Western market – support forums etc.

My phone is a bit old so I will not link to that. This, I think is their latest but not most expensive 5.5 inch. Amazon Link

That looks shiny, may have to have a think about that. 🙂 Cheers.

I should probably have linked to the Elephone site, as you can probably get it cheaper by going direct, but I now tend to use Amazon on overseas purchases to avoid the ‘non-protection’ afforded by PayPal. (costs you more to ship back trivial package items from a ‘missing’ shipment than is worth it.)

That elephone looks spec for spec almost the same as the origanal phone you have up. I’d guess that is the current favourite £/ performance, set up being pumped out of China. I like both phones.

They both look like clones of each other.

The elephone design language is very Blu looking, I wonder if they are related? before the USA Blu re badging. All these chi phones seem to be related if you follow the rabbit hole deep enougt.
