Cressida Dick has shown poor judgement for much of her career, not forgetting her issuing a panicked kill order on an innocent Brazilian.

An even worse condemnation of her comes from the Met Police themselves — she is said to be ‘well liked’.  In my view the leader of any organisation should never be ‘liked’, they should be well respected. Well liked implies that she is soft on internal discipline. This seems self evident given the chances to kick Couzens out for his predatory acts on females.  However, it seems that other forces such as Kent also need a shake-up.

Quite frankly I have completely lost trust with the MET police. They have always had a reputation for being a corrupt force going back to the Kray twin days. If you cannot be sure that a Police Officer is not doing something for personal gain or gratification, then the MET police have sunk even lower than the Kray Twin days.

The current pretty stupid MET advice to ‘challenge’ a plain clothes officer is wrong and is only likely to result in false charges of resisting arrest. I think the advice should now be to take a photo of any MET officer and their warrant card and send it to a friend or lawyer. If the Officer will not cooperate then that should be sufficient grounds for resisting arrest.

There are times when a public example has to be made of an incompetent leader. Dick should be stripped of her honours and thrown out of the Police Force.

She’s yet again being given the chance to mark her own homework.

How did he get a job given we now know his background, which wasn’t hard to find out, let alone keep it when he reoffended as an officer?

And there are so many Met officers under investigation for this, that and the other that if it were a Corporation the board would be out, never mind the CEO.

Agreed Dave, but it is not just the MET. Other police forces were involved and failed to take action. In addition there is now an on-going investigation into a very dubious Police Facebook group that Couzens was involved in. This group apparently is far more widespread than the MET.

Based on my (limited) experience of Essex in the 1970s the police has its share of bad-eggs, albeit a lower percentage than the population at large. Also to my knowledge the MET of that time employed an Embassy protection officer who was to say the least quite trigger-happy (eventually he was thrown off that duty).

In order to restore public trust I think that there should be an annual INDEPENDENT psychological test of each serving officer of ALL ranks, and these results should be reviewed by the P&CC for the area and amalgamated into a report to Parliament. (I’d also do more vetting on the P&CC given the current experience in North Yorks!)

I’m looking forward to the next few editions of Private Eye as their investigative journalism is happy to ignore the heavy-handed guidance censorship normally given to national press and TV.

Knowing Private Eye there’ll probably be some sort of a cartoon flasher showing off his Cressida!!
