So, I got me a new pc case, mid tower, cos’ the misses sat on the old one and bent it.
Found summat just right.
so intel from ivy bridge have been using thermo paste instead of solder on their cpus to the heat sink.
I decided to re-paste my aging 3770k as the right thing to do. I just used Kryonaut.
See.
Original.

Next split.

On this zoom see the surface of the cpu deteriorating due to using therm intel using therm paste.

like a pillock I dropped the cpu on to the gubbins and bent some pins. Which I diligently had to bend back into place.
OUCH.

Any way see my old build and how untidy it is.

Now see the new build and what a dandy tidy fellow he is.

Distance.

Now here is the rub. is the re-pasted CPU much cooler and a better overclocker.
Well it defo seems to be cooler at 4.5GHz? But my Cine bench score has gone up by 25 to 30 points compared to pre-paste @ 4.5GHz and its a consistent improvement.
Now theres a thing. 🙂
