News here https://www.wired.com/2017/03/wikileaks-cia-hacks-dump/
They’ve hacked smart tvs, all major Phone Oses, routers, you name it they’ve hacked zero day faults..
March 7, 2017 at 6:57 pm #4925Considering these things are not built with security in mind, I’d be amazed if there was a government in the world that isn’t “hacking” iot stuff.
Hacking in mist cases is a stitch too, usually it’s just a case of inputting factory admin/passwords.
There is a few sites that to highlight the issue with baby monitors, they “hack” the. I and stream the. And 24/7, there hope is the outrage will stop the bad practice across the board, or at the very least users will change the default pw.
March 8, 2017 at 3:20 pm #4952Billions of boring words, actions and images collected, for what? US and UK Security agencies are past the point of paranoia and far along the path of intellectual stupidity.
How does it help them with national security? Don’t ask my fridge, it’s dumb, just keeps on working for the last 8 years without protest. The new steam iron is a bit suspect though, has to be. SWMBO just picked it up and used it without asking for help. So did I, come to think of it, made a nice job of my trousers. :good: :yahoo:
When the Thought Police arrive at your door, think -
I'm out.April 11, 2017 at 10:28 am #6089Oh Dear! If ever proof was needed that Governments should be extremely cautious in exploiting (making?) zero days, the public (free) release by (Russian?) hackers of a huge cache of exploits makes the Internet far more dangerous for ordinary users. link.
Although the released exploits were relatively old (2013), it seems probable that the hackers still have a trove of more up to date stuff that they will try to sell.
Just as worrying is that the CIA has kept quiet (caused?) major vulnerabilities not only in Windows but also in Linux.
April 11, 2017 at 11:46 am #6094My daughter’s dogs gave up hacking IDIOTIC (Internet Direct Integration of Threats Including Chaos) things as they contained too much noise and no little benefit. They then gave up chewing them as they have too little taste and not much crunch. They prefer the challenge of chasing rats, but have to settle for chasing pigeons due to a shortage of rats.
They work on the idea of if it smells like lunch, looks like lunch and ultimately tastes like lunch then eat. They suggest that others follow this suggestion and get some real benefit all round.
They would like the latest update to cover off the MS word exploit, it is supposedly out today, I would also like that fixed.
April 11, 2017 at 8:51 pm #6125Keep your dogs away form the new Nintendo switch cartridges. They have special chemicals in them. Probably because the have hidden exploits inside, and noting to do with St plopping children swallowing them.
April 11, 2017 at 9:38 pm #6127I know someone who works for Orange. They had their whole system replaced with Huawei equipment and when they’d finished they all had to leave the building for half a day while MI5 did their thing.

April 11, 2017 at 9:45 pm #6128Huawei is part owned by the Chinese gov so they get looked upon with suspicion.
Both me and the wife have a Huawei phones (6P and P9) , and I must admit sometimes the Chinese meal arrives before we have ordered it!
April 11, 2017 at 9:59 pm #6130Huawei being Chinese were always suspected of having backdoors to the Chinese military and were banned from US government projects. The rumour is the only problem was that the backdoors were put there because US spooks wanted to spy on everyone and the Chinese outfit was just doing what it was told.
Another story is that Huwaei actually knew nothing about it claiming it would be corporate suicide. According to Snowden the CIA had long compromised Huwaei’s corporate servers and had the source code so just put their own in.
BT actually uses Huawei for its C21 network and was criticized by HMG for doing so although HMG offered to evidence that there were any back doors.
So you can make your mind up if MI5 were removing Chinese and / or US spyware or introducing their own.
