Couple of bad reviews there Boris, drives failed early.

I'm out.August 15, 2018 at 1:09 pm #24719I have had one SSD fail early, it was not PNY and I cannot currently remember the make nor can I be bothered to dig out the details. However, that is not quite the whole story. The machine in question had a bit of a habit of crashing and thus needing rebooting this as it turned out was due dying memory. Then it failed one more time and the final power cycle took out the drive. A thorough memory test (Memtest86 over night) showed that one of a matched pair of DIMMs gave errors causing the machine to fail. It was sent in under warrantee, earning a replacement (twice the capacity as it turned out 4GB went to 8GB) and the claim for the disk drive was honoured. Since that time the replacements have worked long and hard. Thank heaven for disk images – which reminds me, it is time to take some new ones.
August 15, 2018 at 7:50 pm #24724Someone at a Computer Fair (remember those?) told me this a long time ago. I recently found the typewritten notes in one of my old boxes.
Considering the rapid rate of change in computer power and associated demands upon PC components:
*’Enough’ memory is rarely sufficient for long.
*’Enough’ backups are rarely sufficient for long.
*’Enough’ storage is rarely sufficient for long.
*’Enough’ PSU power is rarely sufficient for long.
*’Enough’ cooling is rarely sufficient for long.
*Your CPU may be outdated within months.
Some of that is no longer applicable, but it made sense to me at the time, as I had recently discovered that the Cyrix-powered PC I had bought from a back street Nottingham cowboy, was over priced and under powered. I was a computer novice and never forgot that rip off. Plus the 17″ CRT monitor almost put my fragile back out, although it was the best part of the deal, had it for a good few years until I discovered flat screens.
I lived and learned!

August 27, 2018 at 7:14 pm #25256That’s outrageous at £22. My first was 30gb for about £150.
August 31, 2018 at 12:03 pm #25394Just seen this one on Ebuyer – Integral 240GB V Series v2 240GB at £34.97.
August 31, 2018 at 1:07 pm #25396That is a great price.Smaller drives have been dropping recently though I did read talk that even larger capacities might soon drop.
I think the first HD I bought was 5MB, it weighed pounds and cost far more than than one would consider halfway reasonable. Its replacement 10MB was a reasonable buy as I sold on the 5 to a colleague. Both were ‘full height’ 5.25″ drives. As for memory, I found an old anti static case with a price sticker £400 for a few MB, that was only about 25 years ago.

Note- you will need to add on £3.98 for SuperSaver delivery – which makes it only 1p cheaper than the

September 3, 2018 at 6:51 pm #25541I have tried around 10 times to delete “Notify by email”. I am just ignored. Anybody any idea?
Also still have the problem that every page loads twice, now becoming quite annoying. This happens on 3 computers, on landline and mobile data.
September 3, 2018 at 6:53 pm #25543That’s really strange Alan.
Have you tried an ‘incognito’ tab? Clear cookies and all that jazz?
September 3, 2018 at 6:54 pm #25544It seems that I am now unsubscribed as I unticked the box on making the above post so it seems that just unticking and pressing Update does not actually unsubscribe you.
September 3, 2018 at 9:34 pm #25545I keep my eye on this thread, save my eye can you let me know when you see one of these

Thanks for the response. I doubt it is cookies as it happens on 3 different machines but I will try it. Never thought about incognito mode but again will try it and revert.
