I have put a blue bar at the left for read and unread grey but appears that all posts are marked read now and will only take affect from now. Not sure if this will work out so ill keep an eye on it but I hope it does, it’s much more neater.

After a few reads of any ( showing ) unread posts, it’s showing all posts in grey ( read ). Thanks

It’s working for me, and it finished the ui off on the site. It’s all an point now, looks like it all belongs.

The old icons done a job, but like I said before, they looked very xp. I wouldn’t be surprised if they was nicked off xp.

Just talking of mobile ui, as Ive not seen the desktop site in a long while.

The main reason for it was to cure overlapping text on mobiles which it as more or less cured.

Too many sites these days are going for animated ads. I could – at a push – tolerate a static ad, ( not here, mind you, this is a peaceful zone, mostly ) but the twitchy, glitzy, sweeping movement of the animated ads drives me insane – literally to distraction. I find I can’t read the info off the page without my eyes darting to see what moved or distracted my attention!

I agree with the comment about distracting animated ads but I have the biggest issue with those that use Audio. Sends me scrabbling for the mute button and vowing never to buy/use the poxy product on offer. I know that I can block pop-ups, or use Ad-Blocjk plus but I normally do not block Ads as sites have to make money some-how.

I will have to make the site pay one way or the other and that is no more apparent than this weekend when I have just paid out for all my hosting and subscriptions which means a long boring bank holiday again. Mind, I have put plenty on my electric to allow good use of my Air Con which is a god send when I am stuck in front of my PC in this weather.

Regarding ads on the site! Yes there is plenty of real estate to right. I no doubt will put an add/link to the forumite hosting when ready and depending on what’s left there may be a couple of classifieds from the classifieds area. There will be no external ads here and hopefully not the rest of the site excluding the classifieds if a business places a classified which is hardly the same.

Now, this section may upset some!

I appreciate the donations but I found they died of apart from the ones who created a subscription so that’s about 3 this month with an estimate of £12 although it could be a bit more. I can not stress enough how much I appreciate this but I think people will agree and understand why I want to get the site paying for its self through hosting plans, maybe classifieds etc or any other ideas or features I can come up with. I think the donations have died off simple because people forget and I have hardly pushed the fact as there is only one little yellow button at the bottom of the site.

One idea that I have been mulling over is make the site subscription based. I would work it in a way that even if you did not pay your subscription you could still use the site as normal but would simply get a reminder. How ever if this is going to upset people then it will not be done so I will need peoples feedback on this point.

Finally, if there any ideas forumites can come up with such as features or services that I can add that members would be will to subscribe to do let me know.

I did think about selling forumite unique email addresses, for example rsb@forumite.co.uk but I am not sure if anyone would be interested or the price to charge.

Any how, I am getting warm and flustered now so Ill finish with – What ever happens the site will be here for years to come one way or the other with no loud ads :yahoo:

I wouldn’t get offended by a monthly reminder, or even every 2 months or whichever. We use it and tend to just forget about what puts it there.  Mine just went in, so set the alarm now:):) :yahoo:

Please give an idea of what you think ‘fair’.

I arbitrarily set my PayPal sub to be roughly the same/month as forking out for an MM sub. If that is off by miles I’ll look at it.
