I much prefer the older muted softer colours of of yesterday. Lee.
I actually like the black white and grey of the fall back ship the best, but the soft blues are also good. The darker blues are a bit “contrasty” to my eyes.
April 21, 2017 at 12:53 pm #6531I had not realised that a change had been made. However I do like the appearance of this page while the index pages are rather harder to read. Some sites love such silly ideas as light grey and slightly darker or lighter background. Other daft choices are also made, especially with trendy layout creators going for reversing out the text from a subtly similar background. This makes them totally useless for many potential users and some ex-users. Some sites apply their daft light pastels to the printout that they allow or require, e.g. reply labels, with very pale grey on white, daft. Some print drivers allow this to be over ridden to give real black on white, good for them.
April 28, 2017 at 5:00 pm #6863One issue I’ve had since day one is random log outs. Sometimes it will be days before the site logs me out, some times it will do it a few times a day. Not a big issue, but it just happens and the bugs forum was front and central, so though I’d mention it.
I’ve noticed it a few times too, but it always seems to coincide with changes to the site, so thought it was supposed to happen.
I wasn’t on the site yesterday, but I refreshed the page today (I always leave it open), and I’d been logged out again. I didn’t go on the computer at all yesterday, and haven’t used Ccleaner or anything similar. Have there been any changes to the backend? It’s nothing major, but it’s got me curious 🙂
April 28, 2017 at 5:15 pm #6864No nothing has been changed in that respect. It’s not at the top of my list of to do but I’ll keep it in mind.

If nothing’s changed, it might just be the cookie for the site expiring. My computer’s always on, and pretty much always logged in, so that could be the reason that I’m not seeing it regularly.
May 15, 2017 at 8:30 pm #7415Lee, I just posted another reply in my topic in the Linux section. After re-reading it, I thought I must add a comment, so clicked on EDIT. I was then taken to an internal server error message, Err 500 I think, so reporting as instructed. Cheers, Les

Just to let you know I have not been ignoring you @oldles and have been keeping an eye things from a distance to see if anything obvious pops up but nothing yet. BUT I’M WATCHING WITH MY BEEDIES!

May 22, 2017 at 7:22 pm #7702One very minor but sometimes irritating quirk is that navigating away from writing a post (even just checking something within Forumite pages) results in all writing progress being lost. Not a major thing as there are many work-arounds, but it was not a default behaviour in MM.
A quirk that could easily be ignored. In fact I would not even raise it except there is a keyboard combination (no idea what) that my fat-fingers sometimes hit that results in the same as selecting the browser back-button. If I knew that particular keyboard combo I’d just remap them!
May 22, 2017 at 7:40 pm #7704I see a similar quirk to Ed, sometimes I’ll get kicked out the input box and will be greeted by the first post on that page. However my written text doesn’t vanish. It happens quite regular, but not enough for it to bug me.

ALT + Left arrow :good:

I open a second copy to avoid that issue, that is when I can hit the right keys, which is not always the case.
May 23, 2017 at 5:11 pm #7799May be a cookie monster issue. But I am not sure I understand the problem. Are you saying for example that: If you are in the middle of writing a post, leave the page in the same window/tab and then return to that page you expect the half created post and text you was composing to be still there. Is this correct?

May 24, 2017 at 7:10 am #7829I expect nothing! However that was the way the old MM forum acted. As I posted – this is not a big issue, there are work arounds.
I’m still searching for the key combo that causes my fat finger problem (not Alt back arrow as I’m a one hand typist and even my fingers/hands are not that big!). As I use Linux on a M$ keyboard I suspect that it is a Winkey combo that is the problem.
May 24, 2017 at 7:27 am #7830I have no idea at the moment how to fix that and would need to look into some auto save of some kind. I’ll have a think over the next couple of weeks, not finding time to do much of anything lately.

Backspace sometimes has that effect, but only in some browsers, not all – Firefox is one – I remember I used to use it before I got a mouse with forward and back buttons..
May 24, 2017 at 4:22 pm #7851No worries Lee – do not even bother unless you are feeling bored!

I vaguely remember sometime in the past someone mentioning a browser plugin that would save the contents of a text box when something happens to the page, so it may be worth a search if it happens regularly for you.
May 25, 2017 at 7:02 am #7879FF will restore tabs etc after a crash but it will not help if you apparently navigate away and History only saves sites, not pages. No worries, probably better for me to figure out my fat finger problem!
May 25, 2017 at 5:15 pm #7915@admin – Lee, what’s happened to the read/unread option? It’s disappeared from my desktop. I know you’ve been implementing a few changes, is this just an unwanted side-effect??
Pretty please, can we have it back??
May 25, 2017 at 5:20 pm #7916I have done away with them, it may not appear obvious but they were causing so many issues it had come to the point I had, had enough of them. I’ll try and implement some thing else shortly “This week” such as more obvious colour change for read/unread posts. Believe me, they was a pain! :negative:
