Storm Brian on it’s way. I saw the forecast for it Monday but thought it will be next to nothing by the time it comes Saturday and Sunday but my area is set to have stronger winds than the one on Monday. I just hope they do not cancel the football, I believe Bradford is it at home this week.

We’ve got really strong winds at the moment, due to get worse tomorrow and be at their peak in the evening-exactly when I’m on airport duties. ?

Once again we seem to be missing the worst of it, which is forecast to go up through Ireland, west of England and Scotland, and down through the SE of England. East Lindsey appears to have its own climate once again.

I’m not complaining, mind! Atm, sun is shining but light showers keep coming now and again. Wind is very light: looking out of my window, the big old Willow across the Close is hardly moving. I just wonder what the winter months have in store for us.

Lee: Bradford play Charlton at home tomorrow, 3 pm. Man U away to Huddersfield, same time.

City is all that concerns me. It’s my one day of the week 2 while 5 on Saturday and some Tuesday evenings where my brain will switch off and chill. I get my old Valve radio on, feet up and beer in hand and all is good with the world. I’ve even nearly completely trained family not to call or approach me during this time.

The city ground is on the edge of a valley ” Valley road stadium” so it can on occasion catch the brunt of the bad weather.

Been there a few times over the years Lee. Pies and hot drinks not bad, as I remember. Football joke, courtesy of Billy Connolly:

At a Celtic-Rangers match, a drunken little Celtic supporter wanders into wrong end by mistake, finds himself surrounded by Rangers fans. After 19 minutes, Celtic score and he hears the fans around him growling, then one says “YOU! Fetch me a Bovril!”  “OK!” he says.

“But first, gi’ us yer shoes, so ye come back.” He gives him his shoes, gets back. “Here ye are!” – gives him his shoes, giggling. There is human krap in his left shoe. “Wear it or I’ll KILL ye!” So he puts the shoe on. Celtic score again and another supporter asks him to fetch a Bovril, “But gi’ us yer OTHER shoe!”

He does as he is told, comes back just as Celtic score again, finds his right shoe full of the brown and smelly. “Wear it and F**** OFF!” So he wanders out of the ground. On the way home, he is stopped by a TV crew and interviewed.

“Sir, do you think football violence will ever end in Glasgow?” He looks at the interviewer with a pained expression and says “It will NEVER, EVER end! No’ as lang as they are S******g in oor shoes and we are P*****g in their Bovril!”

Birds are going mad here, never heard them so loud, they must know we are in for some ruff weather in the next hour.

It’s bad here, really windy and heavy showers. Went out this morning just before high tide and it was quite scary.

Penarth was bad but it was far scarier at St Mary’s Well Bay

That looks like a big tidal surge Nolan, did it get worse?

It would have done Bob, yes. High tide was about 1/2 hour later, wouldn’t be at all surprised if the road in Penarth was closed, it can throw up a lot of debris and pebbles at times. The wind was also picking up.

By the time I’d got to St Mary’s Well Bay (about 4 miles odd from Penarth) the wind was shocking. Could barely open the car door and debris was starting to come onto the road. I wasn’t there long.

Just got back from the airport run, that was terrifying.

Sheeting rain so visibility was next to nothing at times, bits of trees flying all over the place and the car feeling like it was going to take off.

Naturally I had some wucking fanker 2  in a ancient BMW 2″ from my rear bumper……..

Know that feeling well. Back in the ’87 storm, driving into London at 5am, I was overtaken, whilst doing 60mph, by a wind assisted, pallet sized cardboard box.

We have been lucky again in my area, all we had was strong winds, nothing like the West and South experienced. Plenty of rain, but not really heavy. Raining slightly now, but very cold. If the rain stops I want my daily walks.

Nolan I absolutely hate tailgaters, there was one in our village who drives an old Golf GTi Mk.1. Not a young lad either, in his sixties. Last time he did that to me, I just did my usual, kept going slower and slower, let him overtake and followed him home, got out behind him. “Why do you tailgate every car in front of you? Are you trying to write off your motor? It’s a shed anyway, untidy and ugly, just like you!” All in the hearing of several neighbours, all laughing at him. His retort was the usual obscene advice to go away, to which I replied “And that’s your standard of intelligent conversation is it? Your vocabulary is like your driving: not fit for purpose!” More neighbour laughter.

                              He doesn’t live here anymore.

I have a hatred for people that overtake learner drivers. It really bugs me.

As to tailgaters I do what you do bob, but like to put my foot down, just as their is enough room to take over  or when you see them winding it up to take over.

It’s not like I ever go under the speed limit.

I honestly think that the tailgater was terrified of the weather. Didn’t know how to drive for the conditions and just stuck to my bumper. I slowed down to 20 mph on a 50 mph road at one time and he was the same distance away, booted it to 50 and he was still there. He only backed up just before he peeled off and went the other direction.

My wife is a true-blue Manc so we made the annual pilgrimage to the Etiad. I was soaked to the skin from Thursday through Saturday, and I learned the lesson that ‘light rain’ Manc-style is anything but light, it is one step removed from Monsoon!
