A Message from Bob.

Hi Lee. Wednesday last I was very ill and taken into Grimsby hospital Amethyst (cancer) ward. Turns out it is Sepsis, had a severe infection after a cold, temps way up, shaking like malaria. It’s because chemo affected my immune system, can’t take infections. I am in an up and down cycle, OK one minute, shaking next. They have given me a one person room, very nice. Food is good but cannot taste most of it. Pass it on in the Forum, I’M still kicking, be back soon I hope. Thanks for being a point of contact. All the best, Bob.

Thanks Lee – it’s good to hear he’s OK, not so good to hear he’s down with an infection. Pass on our best wishes for him on his road to recovery.

I’ve got a friend in a similar situation – just ambulanced to hospital with internal bleeding and a fever. Turns out he has a UTI and side effects from blood thinners – he’s waiting for a blood transfusion, anti-biotics and salts. He’s the one hoping to have a stoma reversal – something that’s looking further away than one would have wanted. I’m picking their dog up tomorrow to give his wife a clear schedule for the hospital over the next few days.

Tell Bob we’re thinking of him here too. It sucks now, but he’s in the best place, and when he gets out, he can have a meal from the garden centre he recommended. It sounded lovely and made me a bit jealous :p

Thanks Lee & Guys, appreciated. Now they have almost picked the problem, temps have zoomed to 39C. Shortly after that, I spoke to my Doc about Barrett’s esophagus making food stuck in my gullet and producing small blood clots. I am to have a camera for this, which I should have every 2 years: last was 4 years ago. The mind has ceased to boggle…

I know it all sounds a bit hippy-ish, but positive thinking is scientifically proven to be good – so it’s good to know Bob’s keeping in touch and there’s a whole bunch of folk here wishing him well 🙂

Bob has sent me a couple more messages which Ill try and get up later today. My house is like a building site at the moment and frankly so is my brain so I have been lacking in my duties the past couple of days.
