I know there are some Blender users here and I wondered if there was anyone here that could point me in the direction of a decent tutorial?

I have purchased and read this book but it’s light on the details. He suddenly starts producing walls without issues, and I can only create a plane or cube that’s the default and then how to expand or shrink it isn’t helpful. I think you use transform? Either way it’s a complete change of pace from click and drag which is what I’ve used before for some modelling software (in fairness, fire modelling specific).

Only reason I’m looking at Blender is to try and save some money myself on buying the Pyrosim license, which is costly for what I have in mind, whereas there’s a free plugin to convert a Blender model. At the going rate of me picking up Blender, the cost will likely be worth it ಠ_ಠ

I just need to be able to build a geometry, I don’t need any fancy lighting or any of the stuff that makes Blender, Blender really!

I have exactly the same problem, my ‘muscle memory’ for modelling is completely geared towards Lightwave. I also have the same issue with cost, as an upgrade of my Lightwave 9 would cost me the best part of $600 and I cannot justify that expenditure on a spare-time hobby.

Your post prompted me to look around, and this YouTube tutorial would fit my basic needs (I probably need the introductory ones as well, as the default tool layout of Blender drove me nuts. These are linked at the bottom of the YouTube page). If you find better tutorials please post a link!
