Refs fault.
September 9, 2017 at 2:54 pm #11547Quite amazing that the Ref called it as there was only one position where it was clearly unintentional but still exceptionally dangerous play. From all other angles it just looks like a clash.
September 9, 2017 at 3:54 pm #11548I’m not feeling sorry for anyone – West Ham might need snookers by Monday night!
September 9, 2017 at 4:25 pm #11551Oh dear Steve, you have my sympathy. Now you scousers have a SECOND unfavourite team in Mancland.
My sympathy is serious: Forest play Sheff Wed at 5:30, we have had some hard times there, including a certain horrible, tragic FA Cup Semi. A lot of older Forest supporters will not go there still.

We had a bad semi there too! ?
September 10, 2017 at 4:20 pm #11567Yes Steve, thought things were looking up after a good pre season and a couple of good results. Typical, that sinking “Here we go again!” feeling, every season after the first few games it goes TU for us.
One for BlackLion: just reading Harry Redknapp senior’s book “Harry” a couple of years old, but some cracking stories in there. He is very generous in praise of Liverpool, Steve. Loved Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes and others. Liked having Stuart Pearce at WHU, even when our Psycho was 37.

I'm out.September 10, 2017 at 4:36 pm #11568Strangely I’m not to down beat about our 5-0 drubbing. Untill we had Mané sent off we was the better team, Salha missed 3 plus there was a few more chances missed too. So at one down I still thought the game was ours. once down to ten men, we just couldn’t keep up with their players.
When I seen we was playing klavan and moreno, I though “oh shit”, and was proved correct. Loveran and Milner should of been in. Far more disciplined, and capable. Then Ito ask them to play as a 3, in the second half is just mental.
It would of been the right call, if we had players that could pull it off. Them pair can’t pull off a back four, nevermind switching to a 3 on the fly.
It’s highlighted what we all knew, we are 2 centre half’s short, and one good defensive left back.
Tbh I think klopp plan was to play 3 at the back this year with VVD as the middle man, with matip and loveran each side, and play our left/right backs ad wing backs (flying wingers), all our options in that dept are good going forward, but weak defensively. So a 3 come 5, would make alot of sense. But alas we screwed the VVD up, and we are left in the shit. Though even with VVD, we would of been one good CB light still.
September 10, 2017 at 6:15 pm #11574Haven’t seen the highlights on MotD yet, but I have an old mate back in Notts who has been a Liverpool supporter since the early Shankly days. Not a scouse, just decided he liked Liverpool instead of the first team his dad took him to as a nipper – Mansfield Town – can’t blame him for giving them up, lol. He went to the game yesterday, goes to a lot, had a season card for about 60 years now. Pete says that he thinks they should employ referees like that with a white stick and their Guide Dogs, ? never a penalty. He remembers players like St. John and Callaghan, but says that they could have done with defenders like Ron Yeats and Ronnie Moran yesterday.
I saw a lot of Liverpool in Forest’s best years, as we were head to head with them in Europe and the League for a few years. I thought that the pairing of Hansen and Lawrenson was one of the best CB combinations I ever saw, although we often wished that they played for someone else at the time, preferably separately, for different clubs! Almost as good as Larry Lloyd and Kenny Burns for Forest at the time in fact.??
Problem in English football, is that there are just not enough good defenders about today. I don’t think enough emphasis is given by coaches to proper defending. I was am amateur Army right back, but I could tackle better than some of the players I see in that position nowadays. My Uncle Bob played as understudy to Stan Cullis before the War at Wolves and was scouted as a kid to eventually replace him at centre-half. Being sunk twice and wounded meant that he only played non-League after 1945, but he showed me how to make a clean tackle from the age of 9. Also to take a ball on the chest, run it down to feet, one touch to control, then pass. No heading it anywhere, as even England players do. SWMBO says the most she hears from this room when I watch football, is “Don’t just head it anywhere – control it and pass it!” I get emotional at football… ?
