If anyone is stl using and enjoying win mobile 10, make the most of it, MS has announced its killing support in December.

Yesterday I just bought my 10yo a Moto g6 play for 119 32bg 3gb ram and most important and impressive 4000mah (that’s why I went with the play ed over the stigjtly better G6) for a mental cheap £119, from amazon assumably cis the G7 line is about to drop. She had a moto E for 2 years, which was already 3rd hand, and it just jive up the go. So all in with case and tempered glad, it was £132. Seems a nice phone. Buy December you’ll be able to get the G7 for around the same price. Which is what I’d be looking at if I was still attached to win phone (so I’m assuming eadign Edge isn’t important.) I think when my P20p dies, I’ll to go moto G 7 or hopefully 8. I don’t think the need for high end is a must any more. Entry level is now more than good enough. And by moto G8 I’m assume the camera will be more than good enough also. Not checked the G6 shots out. But obviously they won’t be on par with the P20p or even any Google ojoen back to the nexus 6p (all amazing).

Windows 10 Mobile Is Dead Dead

I chose the android talk topic 1.cos I couldn’t see a win 10 mobile (not that one is now needed, and 2, if anyone is in w10m, there outlook likely android over apple (as if you was into higher end you’d most likely be there instead of a cheaper win phone).

Its a shame but so surprise – I remember a few threads on MM – the OS was nice to use but terrible app support, and even worse integrating with normal Windows (i.e. your home network) was almost impossible – way more difficult than android or IOS.  On batteries, my Lenovo P2 has 5,100 but also appears to be really well optimised, as does the battery (half the size) in a trusty Xperia z3 which my other half is using. I’ve got an old chi-phone which is just a spare now but that had a 4,000mAh battery but would last nowhere near as long as the Sony.

I’ve still got my lumia 640 W8.1 bug free… Smashing phone all round. Apps have not caused me any problems. I have not run into a situation where I need a type of app and it is not available.

Been looking at the 950XL? fablet?? Because I like to watch movies on my phone and i rip Youtube 80’s pop vids. I hear ya: That dont impress me much.

I’d not bother investing in any other win mobile tech as in December all support ends.

Though given that it bombed as a platform, there is so few devices out there, the risk of being targeted is problem next to zero.

I have nothing against the win mobile stuff, I got a phone and a tablet to check it out. The os was good, thst tablet was poor even with it got full win 10 on it, but I liked the phone, but the ecosystem just never took off. And the appstore was just full of fake crap apps, and the few big apps that Ms paid to build an app, never updated or supported them.

The big mistake Microsoft did was start there Scroogled campaign as in retaliation youtube pulled all their apps, even apple wasn’t that stupid, knowing the Google apps are a staple. It back fired even more just a few months later when MS realised they had to stop the campaign as they was doing exactly wist they was calling Google for. And they even had to ramp up the efforts to make cotana work.

A real case of thd PR team not speaking to the development team, that cost them access to the largest apps on the planet. One of a handful of remelarkably silly decisions by MS for win phone. Its unlikely it would of ever worked out really. As they was far to late to the party.

Anyone remember Steve balmer laughing at the iPhone, calling it an overpriced toy, and not a real smartphone.

I will have to make a decision about phones soon. My Wileyfox Swift (original Swift) is failing: keeps powering off and the battery* is not holding charge well: dead after a day’s use and I don’t do anything heavy with it. My 8″ Lenovo Tablet lasts much longer, even though I do much more with that: emails, reading Kindle, news sites, FB etc. Checking after charging yesterday, phone lost 5% whilst screen was switched off, in about 15 minutes! Our Gert’s (original) Spark is suffering same problem and is also having Storage issues. STK was the company that bought up the remains of WF:

              http://tinyurl.com/y9up83h5

-but they are not interested in the older phones, could not provide me with a battery. I will be looking at a G6 or waiting to see what the G7 comes out at.

*Sourced a battery from China for a ridiculous sum, less than a fiver. It is a genuine original Swift battery, looks exactly like the original that came with the phone. The Chinese company must have bought them up when WF went TU. When I ordered it, I asked for another for our Gert’s Spark, they emailed to say ‘unavailable’ then sent me one included in the price. Gert switches her Spark off at night, I don’t and her battery lasts a bit longer (in the phone, that is. Lol.)

              I'm out.

The WF batteries will probably be a stock battery. Given they was budget budget priced, (but very good) I can’t see they was designing anything themselves. I’d bet the only tooling they did was for the casings. Everything else wousl of been off the shelf.

But you’ve had a good run with them. I’d recommend waiting till the G7 comes out and buy a G6 when the prices drop. Also I’d recommend you get it of amazon. As my girl broke her charging port on her g4 (iirc) it was about 10 or 11 months old, they sent a replacment out, arrives the next morning and I had 30days to return the broken one.

Speaking of returns. I have a pixel gen one here, its over 2 years old now, in the summer Google replaced mine as the battery was shot, it went than fine to dead. Last week it died again. So today I sent an email to the cluster service rep that delt with my case. An hour ago she sent me a free rertn RMA and they will send out another one.

I don’t think I had a chance, I was gonna bin it. I’m made up. Both amazon and Google are probably the most hated companies on earth, along with face book, but I’ve only ever had good service form both. They replaced a nexus 4 for me once also. I can’t fault either. Made up about the pixel I really love that little phone.

+1 to waiting – Imo Xiaomi is going to really shake up market pricing.

Xiaomi do great suff, I have their light bulbs and the mija smart home kit, fire alarm and temp sensors. Their quality is amazing, and check out their prices comoaiers to all the compitition.

I also have their mija pens. They ain’t smart. Just a refil pen, with cartridges, they are very good indeed.

They are the apple of china. They sell quality stuff at a dear price for China, but cheap for us. The smart home stuff is great

The only down side to their smart hub, is its designed for the chins market. It can be voice operated like an Google now or echo but it chats to you in chinese. It’s also a light iteslt. And works as an exteition to the fire alarm. So when the alarm goes off thst does. It turn on ref to not to blind you. And turns all the smart bulbs on to. If they are RGB they come on red. Again to not blind you in the night.

                    All great products.

Thanks for the G6 & G7 tips Steve, keeping my eyes on that as it develops.
