Not sure about anywhere else but where I am we are due for the heavy snows and cold weather again this weekend. ? Yes, that’s a smile, I am making the most of it before the dreaded heat comes in the summer. The sun is already starting to blast through the windows around 4 and the cat is basking on the windowsill.

March 15, 2018 at 10:25 am #17654We might get some snow Saturday/Sunday. More likely to be rain this time around but it’s getting colder without a doubt.
March 15, 2018 at 11:50 am #17657Big fat drops of very cold rain here atm. In 45 min’s I have to drive up to Beverley (E. Yorks) for a medical appointment. This is The Big One which will tell me if the lump on my Pancreas is evil or not.
Don’t panic Lee, I’ve got my new passport and innoculations are up to date. I am safe, but I can’t find my English – Yorkshire phrase book. ??

March 15, 2018 at 2:12 pm #17663Best of luck Bob. Thinking about you at this stressful time.
March 15, 2018 at 2:21 pm #17664March 15, 2018 at 5:54 pm #17676I missed your posted bob. Fingers crossed for you.
March 15, 2018 at 6:06 pm #17678Sorry Bob, I missed it until now, yes the rain has been a pain but hopefully it did not come to too much with you. We all hope that the journey home will be more upbeat after better news, than the trip there which would be filled with downbeat anticipation. I hope the silly behaviour of other drivers did not affect you.
March 15, 2018 at 8:23 pm #17699Thanks for all the good wishes guys, but see my “Worst Case Scenario” Thread, please.

I'm out.March 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm #17798Damn cold here again, had some snow flurries but apparently it’s going to be tonight/tomorrow morning when it hits hard again. Amber warnings in force from midnight until 9pm.
March 17, 2018 at 4:11 pm #17807Fairly boring weather here today: only 3 seasons in one day so far. Earlier, snow fell quite thickly for about 30 minutes, coated the cars and roofs, out came the sun and melted it all, then freezing rain, more sunshine. Snow flurries and sunshine alternated for a couple of hours. Been out to shop and pick up gdaughter for the weekend, drove through hard sleet that was like bucksot on the car, then a driving blizzard, pushed by a very strong East wind. It is very cold out there though. Gdaughter resisting a walk in it, to my relief. Says she would rather do homework, which tells you how cold it is out there!

I'm out.March 17, 2018 at 4:36 pm #17811Yes it is cold and unpleasant here as well. A grocery delivery left out one item so I drove out to try to buy the missing item. Sadly the shops was totally without, I think the freight movements have been halted for a while so daughter will have to settle for a different item for her breakfast tomorrow – and probably for a day or so after that. The snow had left a bit of ice on the car and removing that took a few moments which were all wasted but no harm done. At least the car park was empty and the shop was not exactly packed.
March 17, 2018 at 4:42 pm #17812It’s blumming freezing here now but the snow did not stick long here this morning.. I’ll be down in my cellar tonight where it’s extra cold.
It was nippy down there last night but just standing at the top of the cellar steps you can feel it’s got that bit of an extra snap.

March 17, 2018 at 5:30 pm #17815Yes the snow has continued with a little more enthusiasm again and the temperature has dropped a little more. Not a great night to be out and about – so I won’t be going out. The car is getting a new white blanket and this time it can stay there.
March 17, 2018 at 6:06 pm #17820Being near the East Coast, the present Siberian blast is coming straight at us and it is Brass Monkeys out there. More snow flurries, but whipping across my windows at 45° to the horizontal, driven by an increasingly stronger wind. It’s blowing around the Close and the old 50 foot Willow Birch across the way is tossing from side to side.
As usual, when I went to Morrisons this midday, several people were obviously expecting an Ice Age: buying up lots of stuff they will probably not eat or otherwise consume. Two successive cold snowy days and a portion of the British populace think Global Warming has ended and gone into reverse. ??
The sight of a lady from the village with no children now at home, buying 2x 9 packs of toilet rolls, 3x loaves, masses of veg, other stuff and lots of tinned food, amused me. There is a perfectly good Village Shop, which has veg from a local farmer, across from her house.

I'm out.March 17, 2018 at 8:17 pm #17830We were without water for 24 hours due to a burst water main. Thames Water delivered bottle water to drop off points around the are & to most of the surrounding villages.
Apparently, after the first drop off, a white van arrived & all the packs disappeared.
I watched neighbours make multiple journeys & carry about 20 packs indoors.
As the water trickled out of the kitchen tap we had more than sufficient water for our needs, including filling a bucket to flush the loo. 6 hours later the water was back on.
Now there are various water packs outside some houses waiting for tonight’s frost & I expect there to be a lot of bottled water for sale on various social network sites.?

I'm out.March 18, 2018 at 1:45 am #17838Hovered around 3 degrees all day here. However it was sunny and fresh, with a couple of light dustings. Currently it says its minus 1, but the house doesn’t seem cold.
It jas been windy the last two days, last night it was rattling the roof slates.
March 18, 2018 at 8:03 am #17842I just had a peep outside and it looks like the beast has been again.
It looks like I’ll be stuck in, at least I have plenty of milk this time, let’s hope the pipes don’t burst.
Cheers
