What a mental start to the 6 nations this year!
Wales had a superb game against Scotland, I don’t think anyone predicted that scoreline. I know I didn’t, was hoping for a 5 point lead, 27 is epic.
Ireland V France, have to say it was a bit boring but France played their way and Ireland were damn lucky to sneak a win.
The way it’s going I might put a few £ on Italy to win tomorrow!!!!
February 3, 2018 at 7:22 pm #16552It was only Scotland!
Ireland deserved the win after blatant French cheating. Head injury my arse. But a warning to all, that was a helluva drop goal.
February 3, 2018 at 7:37 pm #16553Can’t argue about the French cheating, that was ridiculous. Nigel Owens had to go with the match doctor’s decision. I bet the match doctor has a nice new car/watch/lady friend tonight!
As for ‘Only Scotland’, I’ll wait and see how the English do away from home against them.
Honestly, I’m dreading next Saturday. Away against England. I’ll just have Max Boyce, Live At Treorchy on a loop.
February 4, 2018 at 5:08 pm #16570Start getting worried ?
Italy just get better every year. That first try was a cracker.
February 4, 2018 at 5:55 pm #16572Nolan and Dave R, take a slice of Humble Pie!
Scotland had been touted in some quarters, as the team to win the Tournament.
Italy were demolished. England did not ever give up, just kept trying to get over the line to the last minute even when well in front, tackled like Lions. (No pun intended!)
I am looking forward to England vs. Wales, although as usual I will be torn two ways.

Dave, it was only Italy!!?

Vergognatevi! Ci abbiamo provato così tanto! ??
(In an emotional Italian accent) – Shame on you! We tried so hard!

I'm out.February 10, 2018 at 6:53 pm #16792Ok, Wales lost. Not happy about it but it could/should have been a lot worse.
Way to many mistakes by Wales, simple ones, lots of penalties missed by the ref-on both sides.
I’ll take it on the chin and move on.
February 10, 2018 at 7:03 pm #16793Close but no cigar.
Great defence by England.
February 10, 2018 at 7:06 pm #16794It was a good match, that matters more to me than the ultimate result. At least we turned up and had a good go.
February 10, 2018 at 9:36 pm #16799Well England and Ireland have the easiest ones out of the way, some might say Ireland have had two bites at that cherry.
I can’t see us losing to Scotland even at Murrayfield, however you’re going to have a fight on in Dublin. France at home to Italy – France even if they don’t turn up.
Then Ireland have Scotland at home, easy win. Likewise you against Italy at home. The French at Stade de France is never a given for anyone, you just don’t know which France team will turn up, but I’m cautiously optimistic.
Italy vs Scotland, who cares? But the fight for the wooden spoon will produce a good match for us neutrals and I’ll be cheering for Italy (but not because I hate Scotland, I think Italy deserve more than they get). You got the French at home, you should get that one. We have Ireland at Twickers – that could be winner takes all.
So you could do us a huge favour on the 24th. Beat Ireland and that would neutralise the risk of the French beating us.
Given the maths of bonus points etc. I still think that whatever it will all come down to England vs Ireland on the 17th March with you and France fighting for third and Scotland and Italy for the wooden spoon.
February 11, 2018 at 3:13 pm #16804After the two Johnny May tries (first was 2½ minutes in) England sat back and just tackled and blocked everything Wales threw at them: and they threw a lot! Welsh flair was handicapped by mistakes and forced errors. The ‘Try that wasn’t‘ might have had a different outcome if given, but even after repeatedly watching the action, I could not judge it either way. Great game between two teams getting better gradually, which became a contrast in playing styles.
Reworking an old Max Boyce song: “… the Sunshine Home in Wellington, for Blind NZ TMO’s!”
My opinion: not enough Williams’s in the Welsh squad nowadays! I knew this would happen! ????

I'm out.February 11, 2018 at 4:57 pm #16815What a game! Very entertaining. If france carry on like this then it will be them chasing the wooden spoon.
February 11, 2018 at 5:08 pm #16816Hell of a game today, really surprised with France, fair play to them.
Bob, I’m guessing you watched the Welsh match on ITV, on S4C it was shown as clearly being a try, which it was. TMO was mental not to give it. That was at least 5 points, more than likely 7 as it was the correct side for Patchell to kick the conversion. Robbed.
February 11, 2018 at 5:44 pm #16818The welsh never lose, they are always robbed.
February 11, 2018 at 5:55 pm #16819No Dave.
Only when we are.
February 11, 2018 at 6:13 pm #16820Nolan, that is a “swings & roundabouts” issue. I believe you may be right, but over a tournament such issues have a way of cropping up and biting all teams indiscriminately. At least some key Welsh players are returning for the Ireland match:
That will be a good game, both teams play open rugby when they are on song. A win for Wales will be good for England of course.
And a Williams returns to the fray!

I'm out.February 14, 2018 at 6:31 am #16847February 14, 2018 at 9:49 am #16850The link is broken – all I received was a ‘ooops!’
February 14, 2018 at 9:56 am #16851There were 56 minutes left in the match. It wasn’t a 79th minute we was robbed incident.
“Howley denied the disallowed try, which took place in the 24th minute when England were leading 12-0, ultimately cost his side victory.”
Retrospectively it’s been shown that there was a forward pass in Wales last try against Scotland that was missed by the TMO. It wouldn’t have altered the outcome of the match but it did gain a bonus point. Who knows what difference that will make at the end of the series?
Every team gets knock backs from the referee. Get over it.
EDIT this is the link https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/wales-receive-formal-apology-world-14284371
And despite the wording of the link it wasn’t an apology, it was an admission a mistake was made.
“World Rugby has clarified to the Wales team management as part of the usual review process with teams that the TMO made an error in the application of law during the England versus Wales match at Twickenham,” a statement read.
“In accordance with law 21.1 b Wales should have been awarded a try as the Wales player grounded the ball.”
