Drezha, I thought BMW/Mercedes VAG robbed people for upgrades but £3K for front parking sensors is in another league.
The reversing camera is really good. An update to the software on mine gave another 2 angles. The camera can get covered in crap but most of them do.
Stop/start is disabled by default in Sport mode, puzzles me a bit.
I haven’t bothered with Android Auto, the Ford sat nav is very good once you get it set. It likes postcodes. Welsh place names confuse it a bit.
<p style=”text-align: center;”></p>March 16, 2022 at 7:44 am #69318I suspect the ‘dead-hand’ of marketers have influenced the sensor price. Such sets normally come with a top of the range model and the marketers do not want to give a cheaper way of getting top of the range benefits.
March 16, 2022 at 8:34 am #69319Ed, your probably right.
Mine is top of the range apart from the full fat ST. It was £800 odd for the driver assist package. And there were still loads of options available.
My Swift Sport had everything included. No options apart from questionable decals and other trinkets.
IMO top of the range should have everything available included but I’m not a business person.

That’s the case – I think they were running of “perks” to include for the extra cash. I think it was front parking sensors and electric closing boot.
When I had my Golf for work, we were adding everything to it to get it up to the monthly lease payments – including things like a suit hanger on the back of the drivers seat!

March 23, 2022 at 7:35 pm #69329Just in time I got myself an ionic in November, the thing has almost every option as standard. Not the most fun car, but it’s doubling the mpg of my old Leon st fr.
March 25, 2022 at 7:11 am #69337My car turned 1 yesterday.
13857 miles done.
I still love it. The handling is superb, enough power, of course I want more but I don’t need more, and nothing wrong with it.
The app reckons there’s another 5000 miles to it’s first service, that’s impressive considering it gets driven enthusiastically when possible.
June 7, 2022 at 9:27 am #69589My car is in for a service now.
I have an automatic Focus as a courtesy car. Oh dear. The gearbox is terrible. It can’t decide which gear it wants, changes are clunky and it holds onto the lower gears for a really long time.
I hope the service doesn’t take long.
June 7, 2022 at 5:26 pm #69590I have just retired yet again. I figure I will look to go back to driving October time ish.
TBH with you the site of a steering wheel makes me feel sick.
I may well be sitting on my bum for a good part of the day, but man., after a 2000mile week yer brain turn into soup.
June 8, 2022 at 9:12 am #69594I did just over 800 miles over 4 days last week and enjoyed the vast majority of it. The M25 was a total disaster though. Averaged 47 MPG while not hanging around. My Swift Sport would have been around 36-38 MPG.
I can imagine that racking up the miles like you do Keith would be a nightmare.

June 19, 2022 at 7:55 pm #69608Saw a lady with a 22 plate Puma out in town yesterday and stopped to ask her how long it had taken from ordering to receive it – she’d ordered in September last year and received in March this year. So with that time frame, we’re probably looking at August or September before we get ours – and that was before Russia invaded.
Certainly no manufacturing date from the dealer yet.

June 20, 2022 at 7:18 am #69609Did you order the Hybrid version?
June 24, 2022 at 1:29 pm #69619Did you order the Hybrid version?
No other option – they’re only selling it in their Mild Hybrid version according to the website.

June 24, 2022 at 2:49 pm #69623Interesting. I never really understood why some manufacturers pushed the mild version, but I guess in days of lithium battery shortages it makes sense.
btw I could understand Toyota doing it, as they totally missed the move to EV technology and I guess they will have to buy their way in via one of the established EV companies similar to the Renault-Nissan tie-up. That particular partnership may have even more mileage in it as Renault are rumoured to be splitting off their EV business.

June 25, 2022 at 6:02 am #69630Ed, as far as I understand it, Ford went for the mild hybrid approach as a way of getting more power from a tiny engine.
The turbo on the Puma is a great big one, relatively speaking. That means lag.
The battery is used to provide a turbo like shove while the turbo spins up.
It was never about economy, although it helps a bit.
June 25, 2022 at 7:39 am #69632Thanks PM – now I understand!
September 7, 2022 at 7:05 am #69917Now have over 21,000 miles on the road in my Puma.
Only thing of a slight concern is that the paint is a bit thin in some places. Can see how thin it is by the boot lip where it’s worn and a couple of stone chips.
Otherwise it has been, and is, a great car.
September 7, 2022 at 9:49 pm #69920Ours has apparently landed in the UK over the weekend and the dealer is now arranging a date for us to collect. Unfortunately, it won’t be this weekend, as I’m driving down to Thetford for a MTB Instructors course (which I’d applied for at the last minute in case the car came in!)
