I don’t think there is such a thing as a 3.5″ SSD John – so yeah your set up should be fine. Youd need as fancy a caddy as that though – the SATA data and power connections on 2.5″ and 3.5″ are the same – so just something to make it fit the 3.5″ HDD bay in the case (I’ve got one sitting in a cable-tie harness which has been “temporary” for about 3 years!). But something cheap and cheerful like this will do fine.
June 14, 2018 at 10:01 am #21866Thanks Blacklion
I got me a caddy” of your link, I will start looking for a SSD to put in it.
With me having SSD in the HP I have noticed the difference with the Dell 760 Sata.
Cheers

JohnJune 14, 2018 at 12:41 pm #21869I just stick my ssds to the bottom of my cases, with double sided tape or a blob of hot glue. Never bother with the 3.5 cage convertors.
June 14, 2018 at 3:32 pm #21872A single screw holds them forever, they weigh almost nothing.
June 14, 2018 at 7:11 pm #21883Duke If only I had choices, it’s going in a SFF, to be stood upwards (not flat). So in theory it will be lying on it’s side with all weight, its sure to slip.
Dave a single screw surely needs something to screw into.
I often use the choices in a Tower with 3.5″ let alone 2.5″.
Cheers
JohnJune 14, 2018 at 7:28 pm #21885John you can (most cases) screw a mounting screw through the side of the HDD bay in to the side screw-hole of the SSD (or two) and leave it sort of “floating” – Dave is right they are very light. Loads of options – in one of mine the spinner it replaced is left in the case disconnected and used as a platform for the SSD resting on top. That caddy you got for sub-£2 will do just fine and will definitely work if your SSD has a 3.5″ bay.
June 14, 2018 at 7:34 pm #21886Single screw each side of the caddy frame I think Dave means, John. The SSD has mostly 4 threaded mounting holes and the screws go through the plastic caddy holes, use any 2, 4 if you are being ultra cautious, but unnecessary really. Videos HERE:

I'm out.June 14, 2018 at 7:52 pm #21887Thanks Bob, so I do need a caddy.
So I purchased from my memory, blacklion’s link.
I am a new customer I chose Priority Dispatch I paid with paypal, I had receipt. Thank you for your order from MyMemory.
Nothing about when it will arrive and it’s still showing in My Memory Basket.
Cheers
JohnJune 14, 2018 at 8:41 pm #21890They come from Switzerland and take 3 to 4 days usually.
June 14, 2018 at 8:53 pm #21891Thanks Dave
At least I now have a rough idea, so it’ll probably be next week.
Cheers
JohnJune 14, 2018 at 10:34 pm #21895Yeah, don’t panic it will arrive. They’ve never failed me yet.
June 14, 2018 at 11:13 pm #21896You usually get a “shipment” email the day after you order from them.
I ordered a Kingston SSD 10.20 Wednesday morning, and got the DISPATCHED mail at 09.13 today.
Never trust an atom - they make up everything !
June 15, 2018 at 5:31 am #21898The “Live Chat” on MyMemory (icon at bottom of page during Office Hours only) is also very responsive if you do need to contact them. They are a good firm to deal with and although the quick checkout is handy, and it is worth registering an account with them as it makes order tracking easier.
June 15, 2018 at 7:28 am #21901Thanks all for the confidence boost, I did register before purchase.
Cheers
JohnJune 18, 2018 at 1:30 pm #22021I vertued my patience, the SSD arrived but what’s this

Cheers
JohnJune 18, 2018 at 1:44 pm #22022Looks like a shim so it’ll fit a laptop with a 9.5mm tall slot for a HDD/SSD.
June 18, 2018 at 1:58 pm #22023Thanks PM
I couldn’t see any use for it, at least it doesn’t matter with out it.
The Caddy is no use, if I hold the SSD down with double sided sticky, will it get warm/hot and melt. The Dell 760 has to stand upright.
Cheers
