Just a heads up, Intel will only be using Rocket Lake-S in i5 and above. i3, Pentium and Celeron will be a refreshed version of Comet Lake-S. This is big news as the Rocket Lake-S is looking very good, even the onboard Xe graphics, and has 20 x PCIe 4. The refreshed Comet Lake will stick with PCIe 3 and UHD graphics.
Having said that, the experience from my latest builds for an everyday office hack is even the U version of the i3 10th Gens (2C, 4T) is no slouch with a PCIe 3 NVMe drive.
Rumour has it the AMD will get up to the same trick with it’s mobile processors in an even more onerous way. The R7 5800U will be Zen 3 and the 5700U will be Zen 2 and so on down the lines.
So we’re back into the world of marketing tricks and it’s not just CPUs. Adata have been up to shenanigans with their SX NVMe drives (changing controllers) and then there’s the whole shingled hard drive substitution farce.
