Could be John, but the Beeb had an interview with a Center for Disease Control woman who said that it was a close political aide who had Covid and resulted in Trump being tested. The spokeswoman said that face masks were not worn in the White House and that Joe Biden was on the list to be tested as a close contact. The spokeswoman also said that Trump was 74 and over-weight, not great survival characteristics even though he currently was symptom free.

I guess we will now see whether his hydrochloroquine+zinc regime improves his odds!.

Watching the coverage on CNN, it’s turning into, not so much a Whodunnit, but Why didn’t they do it. The list of protocols that got ignored, why, if Hope Hicks was feeling rough on Air Force One, returning home after the Presidential Debacle  Debate, on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning didn’t isolation and testing go into overdrive?? Why was Trump still travelling mask-less, to indoor fundraisers a day later?? It beggars belief, were it anybody but Trump.

 

Ed, I missed your first post, only seeing the latest one, I so wish there was an irony emoji – I miss it and would have used it with the opening post.

Re irony/sarcasm – I do so agree!

I guess without the visual/emotive clues my tendency is to take every post at face value, and react even if the best reaction would be 🙂 . I suspect that others also have the same problem. :unsure:

Researching, it seems the upside down face comes closest, but it is so broad in optional meanings it runs through silliness to passive aggression or frustrated resignation!! Even then, they are modified by context and the personality of the user!!

His supporters are just in total denial. Of course he isn’t going to get really ill, he has no co-morbidities and he’s not that old. FFS

That’s what they’re hoping then they can continue to shrug it off totally ignoring the death toll. But then the White House isn’t a trustworthy news source so we will probably never know unless he actually pops his clogs. Remember the spin around BoJo until he got admitted to hospital when it could no longer be denied how bad he was?

Actually, he’s 74, morbidly or clinically obese and has been on cholesterol lowering medication. Not necessarily a deadly trifecta, but the risks are higher than normal. Track and Trace for him is going to be revealing, as at the moment nobody is sure how far down the road from getting the infection to showing symptoms he has come, and that is a road well travelled in the company of the White House entourage and his supporters in New Jersey last night. They’ll have a better picture of that in 5 or so days  time.

Lots more instances of stupidity to come, let alone the NYT added revelations likely this weekend.

The Beeb reminded us that it was 9 days after testing positive that Bojo was hospitalised. They quoted odds of 1 in 4 that someone with Trump’s morbidity would die. Not great odds at this stage and historically the odds dropped to 50:50 if hospitalised.

Obviously this has huge implications for the US, but it must now start to feature in BoJo’s Brexit scenarios as the Democrats have made the Irish border an issue in any future trade negotiations.  The problem for BoJo is trying to work out what Trump’s illness will do to the US election and trying to keep Brexit alive until the result is known.

It looks like the super spreading event was days ago, so he may be a lot further along than we think.

Apparently he wasn’t tested at the debate as he arrived late and was trusted under an honour system. His entourage kept to the rules to get in then blatantly ignored them when seated. Hopefully this is now coming across as the arrogance it was, I notice there’s a lot more mask wearing in public. The inner circle seem to be dropping like flies.

His pre debate meetings were held in a small room with no one wearing masks as he found it a personal insult. People still say the White House may be secure against weapons but it’s trivially easy to get through with a biological timebomb. You have to feel for the staff.

The event was just last Saturday at the White House  Rose Garden according to Gizmodo,

The 15 years old daughter of one of the attendees went viral with her TikToik complaining about Trump’s attitude to masks and the resulting Covid infection of her mother Kellyanne Conway who was *’Covid coughing’ around the family home.

“… Claudia Conway, who in the past has been an outspoken critic of both Trump and her mother’s former position on his staff, states: “im furious. wear your masks. dont listen to our fucking idiot president piece of shit. protect yourselves and those around you.”

Assuming that this was the superspreader event the timing squares with the usual 3-9 days induction time between infection and symptoms appearing,. so early days for Trump if correct.

* A very recognisable deep lung cough which is akin to whooping cough where the victim is left breathless and gasping for air.

Read the Gizmodo report and you come out with the distinct impression that maybe it was actually  a body double. I suppose given the lies that were promulgated about BoJo’s Covid health, we should not expect any better from the US, and even Churchill had a body double!

As Dave so often reminds us, 99% of security problems are caused by the A-Hole at the keyboard.

Trump has once again demonstrated his position as the world’s biggest A-Hole by securing his Twitter account with the password MAGA2020, he also failed to set up two factor authentication. We were lucky that the ‘hole’ was discovered by a White Hat as I hate to think of the diplomatic incidents that a miscreant could have caused.
