Checkout the Google data I linked a couple of posts ago, and the phone data generally shows an improvement. There is a slight up-tick in work-place usage, but I am not too surprised as after a week there is almost certain to be something at work that is required before going back to working from home.

The data is quite detailed, so you should be able to check out your county and nearest city.

My guess is that the ‘whittering’ was due to a concern that the warm sunshine tomorrow will result in everyone heading for the countryside/beach. crowds is their main concern but if this goes on for another month or more I think the Government should look at ways of giving people a short break from their house.  This would be in-line with their evident desire to generate herd immunity in a controlled manner.

Unlike Cummings, I wish BoJo well, but his hospitalisation after 9-10 days is not a good sign. If he follows the timeline shown in the Business Insider he will be in hospital anywhere between one to four weeks with a 4% chance of never coming out. For his sake I hope they hit him with the chloroquine, remdesivir, zinc cocktail that they have been using in China and Japan.

Poor old BoJo – once in a UK ICU the odds start to get bad — 50:50. Still he has never been good with numbers or details so he probably does not realise his predicament.

All this tests “as a precaution”, hospitalisation “as a precaution”, ICU to be near a ventilator “as a precaution”. Absolute bollocks I feel, he is obviously seriously ill. Why they can’t admit it I can’t fathom, the country should not collapse in a heap without him.

But if he was still at the wheel why had his nominated deputy not spoken to him for 2 days? How can he know the plans “the prime minister instructed us to deliver”?

Lets face it Dave our Government is led by a consummate liar, and it is difficult for that attitude not to permeate Government as a whole. There was a slight excuse for yesterday’s TV briefing as while they all knew (as did some of the interviewers) there was a need to inform the Queen and Uncle Tom Cobley first, however they should have just ducked questions rather than lied to the Nation yet again.

They’re dropping like flies, Michael Gove just got the full 14 days.

Dave, it may seem like that, but in fact it is a member of his family who has possible symptoms, hence the 14 days all around.

Edp, Yes, Boris IS in a highish  % zone, but I suspect it is significantly better than 50/50. I would guess his risk of a worst outcome is 5 to 20%. But at the end of the day, how does your cookie crumble, or something like that.

Here on the island, confirmed infections 150, still only one death attributed to CV19.

Last week (Saturday?) I tried to post here, but that was when the “can’t sign in” problem happened. A couple of days later i (THOUGHT) I had posted, but it never appeared. I will repost it in a few moments. If anybody bothers to read it, any statistics I mentioned regarding Island cases is well out of date now.

                    Les.

I thought I would just muse on a few things.

First, this I loved. Putin sends humanitarian assistance to Trumpton, by way of ventilators etc.

Friday last week I went to Muffins, (baker/patisserie) in Peel, only to find it closed. I usually get one of their fine vanilla slices as a Friday treat, but not for a while now it seems. They make and sell a large amount of bread and it is well regarded. When I got to my Friday supermarket, the first 2m lines on the floor to keep us apart. No pasta (I did not want any, just took note), and when I got further around, a notice by the bread flour said “One bag per customer only”. Peel is a small city / town (it DOES have a small “Cathedral”), and no doubt the loss of Muffins is one factor, likely that home bread making is increasing.

No frozen veg (which I still need), but once again, Bog rolls galore.

On Wednesday, Co-op in Ramsay is the shop of choice. A general “Two of any items only”, but when I got to the flour, there was a one bag only on the “normal” flour. Bread flour was on the shelves. So, is the whole nation becoming one of bread and cake making?

I have been thinking about this 80% of wages thing. The general populace will not be going to their footy matches, buying new TVs and Furniture in the local shops, and frankly NOTHING in their local shops other than food and medicines. If this goes on for long, that 80% will stretch well beyond needs, and savings will increase. Until the Gov cottons on, then it will fall to 60 or 70%.

All the wrinklies like some of us will not know what to spend it on! Will pensions follow suit?

Isle of Man had its first death from CV19 yesterday. I wonder how many more. Total cases here 95 so far. Since IoM is NOT part of the UK, are our figures included with yours? We certainly do not get a mention in the JHU data.

My Saturday motor cycle rides are obviously now verboten, but I did make a point of changing the clock on the Alazzurra after the weekend. Was it worth doing, or will I need to change it to GMT next time I ride it?

When I took that last ride two weeks ago, I had a strong twinge of backache as I put on my boots. Not something that normally bothers me. Anyway, if you want to know why, look here:–

                      Cheers, Les.

The Chinese sent humanitarian aid (PPE) here, but you would never know due to the Government lock on our media.

Les it is Public Health ENGLAND, so even the Welsh, Irish and Scots get barely a mention, and zip about the self governing UK Islands

In any case, our stats are only the hospital stats and exclude deaths at home or elsewhere. A BBC statistician stated today that the current figures would nearly double if it were possible to include these numbers (impossible actually due to our cumbersome death registration bureaucracy.)  — and we moan about China understating deaths!

So now we know what BoJo isn’t suffering with, and some idiot mentioned telephone contact again, which still begs the question why is he in ICU?

I don’t favour the “precautionary” idea, I can’t imagine they would waste a bed. He doesn’t need an ICU bed for the oxygen delivery he’s on, so what else can an ICU bed provide? Other organ failure treatments springs to mind.

As usual with evasive politicians we’ll have to take notice of what isn’t said and what is dodged. I still wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all a lie and he is far worse. Whatever, I have been in ICU as a patient and I find it hard to believe anyone would be thinking of doing anything from there never mind run a country.

My guess is he is far worse than we’ve been lead to believe. The alternative is he’s wasting a bed and I find that hard to countenance.

Edp, Yes, I heard about the Chinese stuff. I imagine we are all grateful to hear of it, but the idea of Putin giving Humanitarian aid to a President who does not believe the pandemic really exists.

It seems our own chief minister is apparently self isolating, so not just BoJo et al.

WoF, typically I can’t see or watch your Utube offering. “Not available in your area” is the message.

Graham, thanks for that. Made my choices, heard a few I haven’t in years. EG “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers, a great song, great singer and a really good video. :good:

Dave that is a puzzle alright. You raise some valid points and it does make you think, WTF is going on? I have also been in ICU more than once and I am trying to equate what I endured with the BS coming from government. Does not compute.

VFM tipped us off that we are desperately short of ECMO units (only a handful in the country), but I thought that our ICU’s looked like they had enough capacity/equipment to take us through the peak.  However,  suddenly we hear from Trump that we have begged him to spare 200 ventilators! What the hell gives – who is telling the porkies — Trump, Raab or all of them?

Cardiff City Stadium has had a big chunk of it’s car park transformed into a testing area.

Looks to be at least 10 lanes, very long ones, loads of barriers all over the place and a new security portacabin type thing near the always locked (apart form match days or when it’s being used as a park and ride for events in town) secondary entrance.

Loads of high viz jackets wandering around, 50 plus I’d guess. It’s not even open yet. Officially.

The science behind everyone wearing face masks of some form has reached the point where the Government will have problems denying that it substantially  cuts transmission from the 20-50% of asymptomatic spreaders. We will then see if they are persisting in their managed herd immunity objective or are serious in reducing covid-19 infections.

My guess is that they are committed to infecting the population as quickly as can be safely managed. If so, they will continue with their no masks policy and  witter on about denying PPE for those who need it (who’s fault is that!). They will probably also say that we are a bunch of idiots who will now forget about keeping two metres apart or washing our hands.
