Have you tried Freegle or Freecycle?
There are other local sites, depending on where you live.

Started again with a new 16gb micro SD card.
Although I’ve read that the class of card shouldn’t make much difference, a Samsung class 10 was a much faster overall than a Kingston class 4. Both using ethernet, not wi-fi.
I forgot that the Pi has to be connected to the LAN & KVM to access Raspbian to get to the Preference/Configuration settings – doh.
Presume it’s something to do with HDMI port occupation that decides whether Raspbian or Pi-hole is opened.
Putty connected straight away to the new updated install of Raspbian with SSH enabled.
Thanks for the help.--

Thought I ought to try Pi-Hole out – thanks to Drezha & Dave.
Word of warning, when completed it issues a log in password. If you don’t keep a record of it then you can’t log in to the Admin Dashboard. DAMHIK. I had to format the micro SD card, reinstall Raspberry & then Pi-Hole.
Apparently you can log in via SSH but you have to have SSH enabled before installing Pi-Hole.
That means having to format the micro SD card, reinstall Raspberry, allow SSH then reinstall Pi-Hole yet again. After all that, rebooted the router, connected the Pi & everything works.
I can’t get VNC Viewer to find the Pi & PuTTY opens a session screen with no title & won’t accept any input. I’m getting there gradually by trial & error but any helpful suggestions?

Today whilst upgrading my brothers laptop I fitted a one of these to his Hyundai I30 blue something or other I wasn’t expecting anything much to be fair “you hear about these miracle things for your car” but bloody hell both of us were impressed. Don’t know if it will improve fuel consumption like the claims but from 1700ish rpm its like a different car
Presume this is a notifiable upgrade for your insurance.

My Rover 25 gets about 40+mpg in the summer, 32mpg in the winter & about 48mpg on a long run. No boy racer stuff & sticking to the speed limits …. well except for the odd mile or so at 80 to get past slow centre lane traffic. Think that’s ok for a 1398cc, 16 year old car.

My daughter had her head shaved for cancer research last year. We have a neighbour who was diagnosed about 18 months ago & my daughter thought it would be a way of showing support. About 14″ also went to provide wigs for children with cancer.
So congratulations to Ellie. It’s a brave & wonderful thing that she has done.

Lots of hits with “save humax files to pc”
From the HVP-500T manual (in case yours is the same)

I managed to scrounge a couple of old HSS industrial hacksaw blades for making tools. One bit is a thin parting tool for use on the (wood) lathe. Several others are sheer scrapers, used at an angle rather than flat on the rest & another is a well abused knife.

I got 2 60m lengths of Cat 6 cable being given away on Freegle. One piece was more than adequate to reach the workshop at the bottom of the garden.
Not having used Cat6 before, I had several unsuccessful goes at wiring the RJ45 connectors. Whilst the wires looked as if they were fully home there was always one that didn’t quite connect.
So to the point of the story … I bought some pass through RJ45s from Kenable. Although tricky, they allowed the connector to be wired correctly by feeding in one core at a time.
I’ve bought other items from them in the past without any problems.
I also have three POE IP cams (bought from Dave) running on standard Cat 5 cable without problems for the last couple of years. IIRC two are 10m runs & the other 15m.--

M2 is a machine thread (the type which takes a nut) where the shaft is 2mm thick.
Wood screws are mainly metric now which relates to their thickness. The head size can vary between brands.
IIRC the old No6 screws were approx 3.5mm & No8 4mm
If the countersink (csk) is 6mm, I’m guessing that the hole will be 4mm & as it’s a thin plate you will probably need 3.5mm csk screws to make sure the heads sit below the surface. If the ones you’ve ordered don’t fit (I suspect they might still be too large), let me know & I’ll send you some – although a box of 200, 3.5 x 15mm is only £1.41 from Toolstation or Screwfix. I would drill 2.5mm pilot holes.
Try them in the plates without screwing them down otherwise the screw holes will be too big if you need smaller screws.--

I learned Tech Drawing with these: http://tinyurl.com/y3fpuh9m The set pictured in (1 to 5) was mine, bought as a present by my namesake maternal uncle Bob, when I started at Technical school in 1956. My No. 1 gson has it now, still uses it, all working perfectly. although he uses CAD at work, he likes to use the TI set at home. They quite literally do not make them like that anymore, because there is not the mass demand there once was.
Still got a Thorntons set along with a slide rule that I’ve forgotten how to use.
Bought from ‘Soppy Sams’, a shop that sold a lot of ex war department supplies … & the proprietors hated that nickname.Having no TV, until I bought my first one in about 1970, I had to have the ‘in’ sayings that came from adverts explained to me.
A million Biafrans every day

Can you tell Stork from butter? Anyone who couldn’t needed their taste buds tested.
Birds Eye Potato Waffles, sung with a nasel New York accent.
Captain Birdseye
Anytime I Hear ‘Of course you can’ I always add ‘Malcom’ (Vicks vapour rub)
Then there were the programmes, mainly westerns that I couldn’t see : Wagon Train, Matt Dillon, Cheyene & Bonanza.
One early programme I do remember, is Barretta a PI with a white cockatoo.

Same happened to me. Went on holiday at the end of May. Came back & went to catch up on the forum but it was gone.
No search engine hits either. By chance I tried the site with my tablet & lo & behold, the forum reappeared.
I’m now catching up with the missing last 6 weeks.
