Should there ever be a need for probate, for an individual with assets under £5k, it’s just a matter of attending & swearing an oath.
The solicitor who drew up all our wills advised me to do it myself & that if he had to attend, not only would I have to pay his fee but there would be no leeway if he got anything wrong. The procedure is much friendlier for individuals.

Wasbit, that was not me who wrote ‘Issues may arise with bases that aren’t supposed to exist, but exist…’ that was Drezha..
My apologies. That’ll teach me to dash off a quick reply.

That brings back a few memories.
I used to leave Oxford at 8am, get my bits from Eclipse & be back home for lunch. Build the PC & have Windows installed by about 4pm. Happy days. 🙂

Belay my last post.
This is one of the problems of not having an edit option. The misinformation is there to be read years down the line.
Seems Windows Movie Maker links are fake.

Kingspan or Celotex are probably the best know brand names. Builders merchants are the normal sellers but I see Wickes stock some so presumably B&Q etc may have them as well.
Expensive, so these may help. Based at Presteigne, LD8 2UF

Another vote for the SJCam & the Techmoan site.
Although they can be used as a dashcam, I bought mine for use on the bike. It came with about 10 different fittings in the box, including an under water housing.
I mount mine on the handlebars or take it off & clip it to my top shirt pocket with a piece of plastic as a stiffener. Just keep forgetting to turn it off when shopping.

You will need the device drivers & a programme that will capture the video from the device & save it on the PC. Then another programme if you need to edit the video.
Pinnacle Dazzle drivers – says “Beside the driver, a compatible version of Studio is required”.
I use a cheap Easycap which does the same job. Mine came with one programme to capture & another to edit the video, included on the driver CD.
Don’t forget the copy/conversion is done in real time so a 180 minute tape will take 3 hours.

There seem to be enough cats about to keep the squirrels at bay – or at least I have only ever seen one in over 30 years.
Luckily the only external cable is about 100mm between the wall & the camera.
I used a piece of 19mm overflow pipe as conduit through the wall. Cheap & just the right size for an ethernet plug. If you do them one at a time you can get three through. A quick squirt of expanding foam seals the conduit.

After chatting a bit more it seems his point is that the information is hidden from him therefore he doesn’t know what it might contain.
One point he made was that the QR codes were encryption in plain sight – very helpful for terrorists.
I don’t know enough about the subject to refute it & couldn’t find much information other than that which has already been said & he was getting quite worked up about it so I’m now trying to avoid him.

Ah, is this MINIX?
“MINIX. The Unix-like OS originally developed by Andrew Tanenbaum as an educational tool — to demonstrate operating system programming — is built into every new Intel CPU.
MINIX is running on “Ring -3” (that’s “negative 3”) on its own CPU. A CPU that you, the user/owner of the machine, have no access to. The lowest “Ring” you have any real access to is “Ring 0,” which is where the kernel of your OS (the one that you actually chose to use, such as Linux) resides. Most user applications take place in “Ring 3” (without the negative).

My 2.1 Kw system is now 5 years old & has generated 12,000 Kwh. It was estimated to have a 6 year payback time & doing a rough calculation it looks to be on track.
