Would it not be better to do a win 10 upgrade as mentioned above and see if it automatically registers which seems to work ” I did the daughters boyfriends old win 8.1 machine last week upgraded it said 10 was registered then did a clean install you could upgrade see if it registers then back up what you need then do a clean install ” you will find out if the 7 key installed on the laptop works that way.

Try the k-lite codec pack as Graham says I believe it comes with a copy of media player classic as well in the standard version which is what I have installed. Its worth a punt

I used to use a stuff called dethlac used to put it “a liquid” on a flat piece of plastic I think it was put it near to where the ants where congregating within a week they would all be gone. I haven’t seen it for ages though. It was really good stuff.

              Bob

I couldn’t really recommend anything I watch very little tv I was naughty when I acquired Good omens as I am a big fan of Terry Pratchet. I have the audio book so downloaded the series to watch it it is the only thing I have sat and watched for a long time on a tv screen. We have Virgin cable and a few paid for now tv sticks with the movies on them non of which I have any involvement with. SWMBO always moans at me for being anti social but there is very little on tv that peaks my interest. I know all the themes to all the soaps from just being sat in the kitchen reading though.

                  Keith

Keep your eye on the egr valve ours started making funny crunchy clicky type noises on start up when it started to go bad (might be worth taking it off and giving it a clean dirty job though). Normal operation is more of a whirring noise when turning the ignition on. I should of mentioned it in my previous post but probably had a few too many to remember.

I have a 2011 1.7 zafira and don’t have any noise. The 1.7 isuzu engine has been going for years in 1 form or another our mk3 cavalier had an early version of it. The only problem I have had with it is the egr valve which seems to be a common thing on these later engines. The vauxhall “specialist” I bought mine off said it was his biggest selling item for the 1.7

Tested with another external KB JCD: same result. So it isn’t the KB.

Bob did you have the laptop keyboard ribbon disconnected when you tried an external keyboard I had a friends laptop do similar things it worked fine with the external keyboard as long as the on board one was disconnected. Luckily for him I had a spare keyboard to swap his with which solved the problem.

Is it a full on electric cooker or a gas one with a plug for light and ignition?

If I could just put one thing in this discussion. I’d like to think that we might get to the point where Twisted Sister banged the nail on the head. We’re not going to take it.

My youngest loves that video. There is a video on youtube were Dee Snider is sat  before Al Gore in some senate committee type thing  answering questions because united american mothers or some random mothers group wanted to ban rock or something like that. He pretty much told Gore he wasn’t gonna take it. I thinks that’s how it went I watch all sorts of sh!t when i’m drunk.

Something similar to what Les has linked to should be fine for most things. Just googling the resulting codes and car model normally finds the answer. I have a generic one by Autel (found it in a car at work) that has been all I have needed sometimes just by resetting the codes you find they don’t come back again and the ones that do google is your friend. Failing that get a bluetooth one for about £15 – £20 and use your phone there may be a ford/fiat app available on the app store.

I’m not sure that low mileage is everything.

I’d agree with that. I’ve just put the wife’s 52 Ka in for it’s annual service and MoT. Mileage is 32108, last years’ mileage was 31543. However, the one thing that I noticed was that before I could get it to the garage I had to charge the battery, the brakes squeaked and grumbled for the first 5 minutes from where it had been standing. There’s a CV gaiter that has perished and both sills at the rear need attention. There’s a lot to be said for regular use, so long as maintenance is kept up.

The mk1 KA is well known for sill rot I would check around the filler flap as well as that is another known weak spot but at its age if that sill attention has only just surfaced its done really well for a ka of its age.

I get at least 1 a day of these to my work email address and about 1 a week to the work enquiries email address. I should also be a multi millionaire many times over with all the offers of money I keep getting.

Have you tried flushing DNS cache and releasing and renewing ip? I have found this to work when I couldn’t get a pc to connect to the interweb.

                                            Hi WOF

I will have to get him to bring it back to me and plug it in to my pc to see if I can get a hardware id He mentioned something to do with birds when he first brought it. I can only think racing pigeons of which he doesn’t have any or any other birds for that matter he’s a sort of woodwork mate he crawls out of it when he needs something or I will get my mate Mark to sort it for you if you get me. Racing pigeons are the only bird related I need to know where it has been or is and when that springs to mind. I dare say that what ever it is doesn’t have support beyond XP or Vista if it is lucky

                                            Cheers
