I don’t get on here much due to living in the sticks but I was worried the last of the old community had gone. I don’t post much but I do like to drop in and see what the rest of you post

JCD, they may offer you a wired broadband connection to replace your telephone wire as they are really moving towards a VOIP replacement for copper. I can see this being a helluva challenge for rural locations however. Even in Southern England we often drive for miles without any usable phone signal. Wales must have that problem in most areas as we had to drive for tens of miles to get a phone signal south-west of Hay on Wye.

I have moved to a small place called Pistyll on the Llyn peninsula I’m on three and only get a 3g connection it is actually faster than the broadband speed available from BT last week there where sub contractors for open reach fitting new  really wide cables to the old telegraph poles so I stopped and asked them what they were doing apparently we are getting fibre to the house and we are in the sticks so to speak

I remember seeing an article last year showing Harry looking a lot like Prince Phillip when he was younger (a lot younger) ginger hair excluded

We would be a lot better off if we were not burdened with an out-dated hierarchy.  Harry & Megan have done us all a favour by shining a spot-light on this tawdry institution. Given his historic faux pas, I was quite surprised to learn that it was not Prince Phillip who made the racist comments!

I don’t mind the royals but there are 2 sides to every story Harry and Megan’s version and a possible alternate version. I said to one of the lads at work today it was probably Prince Philip who made the racist comment but even Prince Harry hasn’t got the balls to drop that bomb shell. The misses has just come in and she isn’t a big fan of the royals and said Megan is an evil piece of shit after what she has seen so far. If they just wanted a quiet life away from the royalty why all this to make themselves the centre of a media storm.

Cheers for that Dave I new you would come up trumps I have pointed him at the 512gig medion which for the extra 20 is a no brainer for the extra storage. looking at some of the big brands running similar hardware it seems like a no brainer price wise.

                        Cheers Mark

Ed I have added it to my arsenal this is my first experience with an ssd as I haven’t built a pc for quite a while(apart from today I built my first ryzen build for my brother which also threw up a few problems but not ssd related) my old box is prehistoric but does what I need it to do ie a few forums and You tube

I’ve run Ubuntu from a live cd the disk utility kept throwing up the error cannot probe drive I tried g-parted and bingo it created a partition then installed Ubuntu from where I am typing this so I can only assume the windows update did something to the drive and totally erased the partition creating the other problem along the way.

                                      Cheers

Its not resolved at the moment I’m going to give Planemans idea a try tomorrow and see if I can do anything with a live cd I only bought it because the main spinner on the computer was slowing to a crawl but had a lot of stuff on it that I didn’t want to loose. The difference was night and day for this old pc luckily there was nothing on it apart from a few word files my youngest needed for school which can be re downloaded with the old drive connected back up its slow and updates galore to top it off.
