Just in case anyone had been wondering, I bought a cheap Quadro K2000 recently through Ebay. I’ve been ill, so only set it up last night. I used the DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor that I found earlier in the thread, but couldn’t get anything over 1920 x 1080. I eventually set up a custom resolution to get the card’s maximum of 3840 x 2160.

Things didn’t seem right, like the text inside the nvidia control panel, and the Ultra VNC window from my laptop, so I’ve been checking things out, and it turns out that the adaptor only supports up to 1080p, and the Amazon page has been changed in the meantime to reflect it (it showed 4K support when I originally found it). P*ssed off is an understatement!

I can’t decide now whether to get another adaptor, or put the Quadro in my main desktop to use with Photoshop and maybe 3d software (I’ve been thinking about teaching myself).

The last three replies in this thread (two by EdP and one by Bob) were pending approval. I’ve just approved them to see if they would then show up, and if they would appear in the correct order i.e. when they were written. They’ve appeared in the correct thread, but at the wrong time.

Sorry I didn’t come back to this. I woke up on Friday with what felt like a bad cold, went back to bed, and woke up with world war three kicking off in my bowels 😷 I’ve pretty much been stuck in bed since.

My guess is that because Ed is a regular member and you’ve got priviledges, you’re being allowed to post when he may not be.

I’ve just had a look and they seem to be waiting for approval. I’m guessing that the email problem stopped any notifications from getting through. I haven’t had any notifications about pending posts through the site either though.

Thanks Dave, I forgot about DS Photo. I set it up when I first got the Synology, but set it just to give me access to scanned photos that I was working on. Because I was concentrating on those, I forgot to go back and set up the photo backup afterwards. I’ve been copying my phone photos to my computer manually…

The more I’m thinking about it, the more likely it is that I’m going to go with MS for now, then add in the C2 backup once I’ve got everything sorted out. I’ve got close to 1TB of photos, plus I can add Alice and Ellen for near enough the same cost. I’ve got a second MS account that I used to use for job searches, so I’ll backup the photos through that and everything else through my main account, plus put it on the Synology and Google Photos.

I can probably delete about half of the photos, as I’ve still got a copy of pretty much everything, including when I was learning how to use the camera. My music is the same. I used to rip a copy of every CD I bought, even if it was for a present. My brother in law went through a Demi Lovato phase a few years ago, and the MP3s are just gathering metaphorical dust.
