      A minor quirk:

Until recently (last few days), clicking an unread post in the Latest Replies list, then clicking Back, would automatically mark the post as read. Now though, it doesn’t change. I think it may have changed once earlier, but nothing’s happening at all now. If I manually refresh the Latest Replies list, then the posts are marked as read, as you’d expect.

EDIT: Just clicked back to the list after posting this, and this thread hadn’t moved to the top of the list either. It’s the first time I’ve noticed that behaviour though.

@tippon, version control wouldn’t be workable with Google Drive or similar

Couldn’t you set up subfolders under a main project folder, like \version 0.1 and \version 0.2 etc., so they’d be backed up into the same folders? I don’t know if I’m missing anything, as I don’t program (yet). It’s on the never ending To Do list though, so I’m always looking for tips and tricks  :mail:

I appreciate the feedback though. Just need to grow an extra pair of hands

I struggle for time these days, but I’m happy to help if I can. I’m in the same boat as you though, I learn as I go. Might be an idea to set up threads, or a sub-forum, for anything you need help with, that way if any of us already know how to do it, we can post instructions  :good:

To be fair, I like that. That would have come in handy a few times over the years. Thanks Ed 🙂

They came from ohbother due to me re-installing the database. Will only happen when I break ohbother and I should not be doing that for a while.

Just a bit of extra feedback, this lot of emails were along the lines of ‘[Forumite] RSB mentioned you in a status update’ where the last lot were ‘[Ohbother.Forumite] RSB mentioned you in a status update’. I only had repeats of notifications where I’d been mentioned, in both cases. Don’t know if it makes any difference with what you’re doing :good:

Getting some graph paper and a pencil is probably the way forward :good:

Isometric paper used to be the old skool way of doing such things, as you can do two walls+floor+ceiling on each page. I’d forgotten how many different forms of graph paper existed. Print your own! link

Turn the graph paper by 45 degrees?  B-)  😀

EDIT: I got my angles confused

If it’s just a case of storing the various files to make them available on both machines, would Google Drive do it?

Good luck with Blender – it is not ‘simple’, you may need to stick at it. Custom furniture could be quite a hard task. You may be better off making a cardboard model of your room from a shoebox and then use lumps of playdoh to model your furniture.

You might be right, just doing my own sketches might be a lot easier.

As EdP says – remember to check and switch System Restore back on (if necessary) after Win 10 has done any updates !

Good point. Thanks for the reminder 🙂

                            Thanks guys 🙂

I’ve used a restore point now and got back to a working system, but I was trying not to as the restore point was almost a fortnight old. I’ve just checked SrtTrail.txt and it’s telling me that the system booted successfully, even though while I was trying to fix it it would hang on the spinning circle under the Windows logo. On the few occasions that it got past that, I was getting a blank screen and nothing on the computer would respond over the network, like network shares or VNC. Just double checking the file creation date, it’s telling me that it was created at 8:11 this morning, while I was in bed and the system was running. My programs are still open from last night, so it hasn’t rebooted either.

I had this problem with my father’s computer a few weeks back, and because System Restore wasn’t switched on, I ended up putting a new hard drive in and putting a fresh copy of Windows on. I’m getting more and more underwhelmed with Windows 10 by the day  :negative:

My elderly uncle accepted the M/Soft offer of a W7 – W10 upgrade and he has been happy with it. Today his PC died – it stops before it gets to the desktop so I understand

My PC has just done the same thing. Startup Repair goes through the motions and comes back with an error along the lines of ‘Startup Repair is not compatible with this version of Windows’

None of the usual options do anything, and as I had just finished copying photos from the camera, I don’t really want to use an old backup yet. My pen drive with Ubuntu won’t mount the drives either, as Windows has flagged them as dirty

I am returning to a good map and RAC Roadworks reports, with a Google route.

Waze is pretty good if you’ve got an Android phone. It’s got a social aspect and a points system so that users have an incentive to flag up problems like roadworks or accidents.

It was a fantastic feeling, and really shook the cobwebs loose. I’m hoping to go a bit further North this year and find the Mach Loop:

I’ve been meaning to for a few years, but haven’t had a chance yet.

Last year or the year before, I was camping in Builth Wells over the August bank holiday weekend. A load of us were stood in the field one afternoon feeling a bit tender after the night before, when there was this sudden roar echoing across the valley. As we looked around, a bloody huge plane came flying over us so low that it felt like we could have climbed in the back!  :yahoo:

It must have come around from the other side of the hill expecting an empty field, and I’ve got no doubt that the pilot had a shock. Someone said it was a Hercules, bit I couldn’t tell you, my head was still spinning   B-)

I did have a look at downloading the training data and retraining it myself, but then realised that they’re currently using over a million images, and their example shows the download maxing out a 200Mb connection for several days and still going!

I’ve got about 700 photos from my time working in a nightclub that I want to enlarge and enhance, so I might kill a bit of time by cloning them to up the numbers to a few thousand, and see how that affects the training.

I can’t remember exactly what I did, but I could run the Linux install from the pen drive as if it was a proper installation, but could swap it between computers. It would take a bit longer to boot the first time I used it on each machine, but I only used it on a handful of machines, mainly to recover files. I copied the VirtualBox files from a LiLi drive too, so it could run in a VM on any machine.

VFM: I use PortableApps on the drive too. I use Portable Thunderbird as my email client and copy it to the drive every so often. It goes with me then so that if anything happens to my computer, I’ve got a quick and dirty backup.

While I’ve been typing this, I realised that I might still have the drive set up. I’ve run it as a VM and remembered how slow it is on the old drive. This is why I’ve been looking for the instructions, so that I can get it running on a faster drive. Ideally I want to set up WordPress and Neural Enhancer on it, and be able to take them with me, along with any other things that I want to try to learn.
