What does SMB 1 actually do? Considering most of us upgrade our OS, and probably have legacy programs etc., is disabling it likely to affect anything?
Cheers guys. Thanks John. I’ve tried briefly looking for nero alternatives (only had a couple of minutes last night) but I’m not sure if they are just authorers or just burners. Any suggestions for software that does both like nero?
Yep, the one I suggested earlier 😉
I use AnyMP4 DVD Toolkit from https://www.anymp4.com/dvd-toolkit/ I can’t remember it having any random extras when I installed it, but it was a while ago.
Thanks Ed :good:

I see what you mean now, you need to start on the original to keep the positions, but without multiple selections, you can’t group them. That sounds like a pain.
On a side note, I wish I had the patience to teach myself to draw properly. I bought a graphics tablet a while back to see if that would help, but I get too frustrated too quickly
Why do you copy and paste them as individual parts if you can group them? Why not draw a number of parts, group them and copy them over, then once you’re done, group the lot? Or, if you’re creating the item in one Draw window, can’t you group them all from there? I’m not sure I’m understanding what you want to do.
Daft question too, but have you tried holding the Ctrl key and clicking them to select multiple items, or dragging the mouse across them, as you would if you were selecting files?
If it’s just for sharing photos to forums (fora?), Flickr and Photobucket are good options. I don’t know what the amount of free storage is now, but at one point Flickr was giving everyone 1TB, and Photobucket gives 2GB free, and I’m only using about 200MB for 2200 photos. I’ve got another 8GB in rewards on Photobucket. I couldn’t tell you how I earned any of it though
Ed MS did warn of dire consequences. Each patch comes with an Affected Software and Vulnerability Severity Rating by o/s. I used to put these into a matrix for review by the Security Dept to decide if an accelerated roll out was required for a particular patch. In cases like this Security would have been on to us as MS would have pre warned them. In the case of MS17-010 it’s Critical / Remote Code Execution pretty much across the board link, enough to have alarm bells ringing.
Would the individual NHS trusts have received the warnings if they were no longer paying for XP support though? It’s understandable that MS would think that XP was gone, as an NHS trust would be expected to keep its software up to date, so the warning may not have even been sent to them. I’m obviously not blaming MS here, just whichever muppet at some level in the food chain who decided to penny pinch by cutting support for in use systems
I’m just using mine as timer sockets on lamps. More flexible than traditional timers and you can activate or reprogram them from anywhere. One was used during the winter on a small portable heater to take the edge off the cold without heating the whole house up.
That’s a good idea. My garage is part of the house, and is below the bedrooms, so turning the heater on while we’re on the way home would warm the garage and bedrooms without warming the rest of the house :good:
There’s one on Ebay HERE and if you check the middle picture, the label shows 12v 10A, just not which terminals. Can you get a multimeter anywhere near the connector plug??
You may have just made me realise that I’ve been a moron! I’ve been using the same wiring diagram on the radio to connect the power, but I’ve been connecting the live to the 30 pin, thinking for some unknown reason that it means 30 amps, therefore power in, even though I’ve tested the 10 amp fuse repeatedly
There may be a happy edit coming soon…
EDIT: Nope! The earth, the 30, and can A & B are the only pins. Can B is just under 1V, and Can A goes from 10.8V to 4.3V when the key is turned, but applying voltages to those pins on the radio does nothing. I’m wondering if the Can voltages should be higher, but for £30 I’m buying the radio from Cardiff. The others I found this week all seemed to be closer to £100 with random accessories, or ‘sold as seen’
Thanks for the links and the help @jayceedee :good:
It’s been here a while now. There are quite a few categories in the forum list:
I doubt there was much the NHS team could have done about it anyway because of the little reported bug in Windows. Two days ago the security people at Google found an exploit in the MS Malware Protection Engine that allows the running of Java Script in an email without even opening it. MS MPE runs with NT AUTHORITY permissions and it scans incoming mail in the background. The bug causes MS MPE to actually execute Java Script in the BODY of an email ! MS put out a patch within 6 hours of the discovery but these things take time to propagate. Hope you all have yours
Yep, EdP let us all know here:

Yeah, but it the case you mentioned, the broadband speed wouldn’t be affected, as it’s already lower than the reduced speed from the repeater.
EDIT: Spool chucking
Though I never checked if this was a repeater or an home plug. I’m not a fan of repeaters. As they half your speed coming out of it, not an issue if you get 76meg
but the type of people that ask me are on normal BB and get 3meg. I suppose 1.5meg is better than noting in that once dead space, but a home page would get nearer 3meg.I was under the impression that it halved the wireless speed, not the broadband speed, so if you had 150mb wifi, you’d get 75mb.
Obviously this is down to XP or unpatched other windoze use, but is some of this made worse by the fact that ONLY XP can support some of the old (in computer terms) equipment which is still young in hardware terms? Obviously if this is so, then as Dave says, it should be fully isolated from www access. Les.
The problem there though is that some of the hardware needs to run on XP, and the machines need to communicate with other systems that possibly need internet access. I’ve had various scans and tests done in Wales where the system running the scanner is XP, but the results need to be sent directly to other systems. If the infection can spread across a network, it only takes one machine to get infected.
Bit late now, but this has just come through in an email:
You should just email him back telling him your dead, make it look like an auto responce. He will them look stupid as he tells everyone about your death. Youll get to see see who he usually bad mouths you to, as you’ll get a load phone calls form people. Just tell them you have no idea how he come to that conclusion, but you have heard his mind is on on the turn. That’s what you do when bored. Or screw with telesales people, that can be fun too.
Either that, or go with ‘Oh. Oh, he’s not drinking again is he? I thought he’d stopped for good after the last time, you know, after the incident in the church’ :mail:
I picked a Hama 5.1 headset a few years ago for about £25. For that money I would have been daft not to. It’s nothing special, but it is a decent headset. The 5.1 makes no difference in most things, like music, or Facebook videos etc., but when you’ve got a decent source, it’s great. :good:
Did either of you set up the browser with a Google account when you first got it? If so, the history may be available through Google. Give this link a try if you remember any login details:
As a broad generalisation, vets have told me that human medicine can very easily be used by dogs.
We found that out a few years ago with some very lucky timing. While my meds were still being balanced, our golden retriever became ill and was prescribed 5mg Prednisolone. I was on 60mg, but in 5mg tablets. We bought the first box from the vets for £50+, and a few days later my dosage was dropped quite drastically. Saved us from buying a new prescription for the dog :good:
