Merry Christmas to you all. May your day go as smoothly as possible, and may you get what you need, not necessarily what you deserve (unless you’ve been good, of course ?? )
Glad you’re mostly ok Bob, let’s hope they get you home soon 🙂
Me three 🙂
Lego Lord Of The Rings is free through Humble Bundle with the newsletter subscription 🙂 Get it before the 22nd and redeem it through Steam before the 27th

I will celebrate the Equinox with a couple of like-minded friends, if I can get up to the local forest, which has a very ancient clearing where the Sun rises straight through a gap in two equally ancient, unevenly-shaped lumps of rock.
Now that would be a nice bit of photography 🙂
Bloody hell Stevie, you’re not messing around are you!? Glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction for you 🙂
I used to have a custom boot floppy for every game I played, and they’d all run a custom autoexec.bat including Memmaker with various options so that I could get things to run 😀
Happy birthday 🙂
Next Thursday I’m at the Heath Hospital, other side of Cardiff to me, to get switched over to injections for my arthritis medication. 9am appointment is great in theory but traffic will be a nightmare so I’ll be there at probably 8am hunting for a disabled spot near the main entrance and then watching Netflix in the car.
Don’t forget the new layout. You can’t drive past A&E any more, so you have to go around the hospital. The handful of disabled bays outside the concourse entrance are for specific conditions, like haemophilia, and I don’t know how strict the wardens are since the parking rules changed. The main disabled car park is usually not too bad at that time though.
The Classic Doom mod for Doom 3 is still one of my favourite games. I’m going to have to install it again 😀
I convinced my father to buy me a sound card and CD ROM package from PC World for £170, just so that I could play Doom. It was the first time that I’d ever upgraded a computer, and getting the sound card set up in DOS while also freeing up enough base memory is what got me hooked on computers 🙂
Excellent news Bob 🙂
Pockets? You posh bugger! I’m at the fake pockets on jackets stage ?
Seriously though, if I was doing this even semi regularly I’d invest in some kit, but I stopped doing anything other than some fixes for friends years ago. I’ve had one laptop here for almost two years because I keep forgetting about it. Luckily my friend had already written it off as dead ?
Sorry Dave, I forgot to reply to you. Thanks for the offer, but I’ve decided to bite the bullet and buy the 450 Mbps version. The Asus router is being a bit flaky, so I need to replace it anyway. I may as well buy a replacement while I’m not desperate for a change 😀
It’ll be a week or two before I can order it knowing that I’ll be home, but I’ll let you know how it performs in an awkward house 🙂
She is not always getting dressed as she is not well enough to go out at the moment so sees no point in the extra work and strain. As far as I am concerned we must be guided by how she feels.
I obviously can’t speak for your wife, but I know that when I was ill and recovering, people trying to get me dressed and out and about could be a pain in the arse*. I needed to do things at my own speed every now and then, and being allowed to do that sometimes was really helpful.
*They had my best interests at heart, but sometimes I just needed to veg out for a few days. Not everyone realises how tiring illness and recovery can be.
Have a look at the guide on Money Saving Expert before you fill out any forms, and see what they say about it

Sorry Richard. All the best from our little corner of the world.
If you want it for the children then you could make a start with a water rocket.
Thanks Ed 🙂 I hadn’t even thought about water rockets. I got too hung up on making fire 😀
Tippon, they make a statement about being more interested in launching rockets than holding committee meetings so I guess the same is true of the website. The spilling is strait out of Steve’s proactive text alp. They meet in the local pub afterwards, sounds like my sort of club.
That sounds like my sort of club too 🙂
I loathe it, but unfortunately there is no way of uninstalling it.
IOBit Uninstaller seems to shift it. I haven’t had a chance to check if it actually does yet though.
Problem with the downloaded iso?
3 antenna would give you another go at mimo but you would only get 450 if the other end can do 450 as well, this is rare. It would also involve more channels giving more chance of interference from the neighbours.
It’s the strength I’m thinking of more than speed. My bathroom and bedroom are across one room then back two and three from the living room, so the signal goes through the corners of several plasterboard walls. The garage is under the bedroom, so has a combination of all that plus the floor.
I’ve just realised as I’m typing that I’ve got a dual antenna N150 Asus router floating around. I’m using it to connect my smart bulb, as the TalkTalk router won’t recognise it. I’ve got no idea how good the signal from it is though, as I forgot all about it until just now ??
I have a spare 300 in the cupboard, more than happy for a try before you buy.
Thanks for the offer, but I’ll try the forgotten Asus first ?
