All a bit vague out there at the mo. it will be good to see some benching.

      But none volatile ram, wow,

looks like M$ may have to introduce new standard sleep for mode and a clean boot function.

And with the windows up date coming out on the 11th things could be well on the way.

ah in the article it says ryzen no longer has to have hpet enabled. thats a norm for AMD cpu’s init.

Taxing robots or what is defined as a robot. Is a clock not a robot?

Anyway taxing machines that do peoples jobs is a blindingly good idea how you measure it. well?

I never use automated check out in the supermarket. If I ve just spent an hour walking around a shop there is no way Im gonna tax my brain using an auto check out. No a person can do it for me. In fact I have stopped shopping in asda for that reason to many auto check outs.

The er big gaming update comes to windows 10 and is being rolled out on April the 11th + other good stuff.

On the face of it it does nothing for a modern powerful system but I’m open hearted and cannot wait to find out and see if some titles are receptive.  :good:

The re installation of your games on the new system is quite vital.

This is because new game installs will detect the new os and hardware properly.

Just hooking up an existing drive with all your games on will not do as they will be calibrated to the old set up.   :mail:

I have a RX480/4GB. I game at 1080p. I have one game that breaks my frame buffer at the mo and that is DX12 Rise of the Tomb Raider on top in game settings. Funny thing is the game is well optimized and when the frame buffer is not hit it runs at about 60fps. where as DX11 far cry primal and GTA5 do struggle to hit 60 fps on top settings and consume anout 3.5GB of frame buffer as does Doom Which runs flawlessly. I clock my 480 @  1357/2000 no extra voltage.

For you I recommend the RX480/ 8GB or the GTX1060 6GB. For a little future proofing with frame buffer use.

A good sized SSD for old games that suffer from poor performance when fly loading. New games like DX12 rottr just gobble up system ram as they appear to feature a ram drive for fly loading as does doom and GAT5 so for you I recommend 16GB of system Ram.

CPU intel or AMD Rysen and not less than 4 genuine cores.

                  Oh and windows 10×64.  :good:

Actually the Ryzen is not short on gaming performance.

As soon a a system gets a wiff of a GPU bottleneck then all cpu scores fall inline with intel.

GPU bottleneck does not mean low FPS either.

Like I say, as soon as a system gets a wiff of a GPU bottle neck then the fps come into line and this could be in the 90+ of fps.

As soon as gamers start to notice this then their next system like me could well be Ryzen.

I really do not see the FPS thing as a problem.

X2 examples at the mo on my system: farcry primal 1080 full eyecandy 60 and below fps no gaming problem GTA5 same no problem.

My biggest problem game at the mo, mega eyecandy game at full settings rise of the tomb raider that busts my 4 GB limit frame buffer. :negative:

Mine are all just rammed into a cupboard. which means heaven forbid I should want to retrieve one then its time to get the spade out.

I difficult task I must say even though I have the ace of spades. Sorry couldn’t resist.

But more importantly I’ve switched to a new updated sound engine app that hooks into my creative sound card darn good.

                        its AIMP v4.13.

Its all about the sound and for me I get outstanding results. Yes way, I can resurrect the dead and have Thin Lizzy in my living room.

Interface is a bit rough though.

May be worth a try for you, I have a dozen similar apps on my media pc and AIMP is coming out as best.  :good:

I only made the switch to an i7 back end last year from 3570k and its absolutely a smashing chip because my i5 used to suffer from micro stuttering which I thought was normal until i put the i7 in.

Whats really got my attention at the mo based on the performance of the ryzen out side of gaming is what AMD’s Naples can do. Stonking platform with more bandwidth than the conservatives implementing brexit.  :yahoo:

I would like to see what Naples can do within a render farm.

so, a lot of chatter out there on the ryzen, especially about its poor performance in games?????

And AMD have released a statement that  there is no problem. well its a bit of a no brainer that the ryzen is what it is.

Anyway up. I know there have been some 1700 reviews come in but the one I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR is now in.

Oh pc chat wise I have had to disable IE 11 in windows 10, it was giving plenty of BSODS stop error.. Thing is I never used 11. Maybe it had some thing to do with steam?

Yes, I have a brand new box never used as well.

I’m also having a clear out of burned discs for the most part countless Linux and old drivers discs + metest86 and others that are due for the bin.

Theres some niggles on the net, like: missing performance due to Ryzen being dual channel with some latency problems.

Game wise I see the problem being down to the AI software of how the chip is utilized. We may even see in the near future game profiles being written for best performance, like the support in the GPU drivers.

I am surprised with Ryzenz 4.2 GHZ overclock ceiling Obviously down to blah blah blah but did imagine 4,5.

I figure the 6 core 12 thread to be the Gamers CPU of choice for system building as and when it comes out.

All being well to be well optimized as AMD figures its way around some of the current bugs. :good:
