The 20 series from NV are not worth it yet as an investment as there is to much dead cash tied up in dead tech that no one is using at mo.

Its probabley fair to say that NV’s new tech will creep in ever so solwly as with physics.

 

The new tomb raider game is so cutting edge in its eye candy that it proverbails all over NV’s new tech as optimising it is crap.

Also you have to remember that a monitor that is actually set up properly can get eye candy to jump on step further.

Just how many of dont have our monitors set up properly. :). Most i think.

Also gaming above 1080p is still difficult in cutting edge well optimised and badly optimised tittles. As in performance bottleneck.

8 thread cpu and 16GB of ram is now a must. This year should see it be nececary for a genuniue 8 core cpu, so a 16 threader.

Monitor wize HDR and free sync capable. Nvidia now support free sync.

Good work. Way over my head though. 3 hours on a Saturday lost. You did well. I would of had a temper tantrum and trashed my kit.

I do wish windows would allow you to make a custom desk top. I hate w10.

I always prefere do do  a clean install.

I also use many patirions so all the stuff I need is safe.

I use 50GB for windows. 20GB for programs. I then have a: game, music, film, photo and office partiton.

My new 1TB KC400 boots me log in from push button in summat daft like under 20 seconds. The login screen is a bit of a distraction from M$. if boot was to desk top then it would take a while longer.

Yeah, I figure that the 200GE has a bit more umph than a phenom 2 at the same speed.

As for the ram slots with on the B450 and the fan bulge on the cooler smacking the ram as it rotates, well thats as nuts as it gets. 🙂

Apparently its a common fault and bios related. No real cure. I’ve asked for a refund on the sound card.

I noticed in msconfig that the machine is set to selective start up. When I set to normal and apply on reboot its back to selective.

Fishy or what.

I spoke to AMD on the phone today. I told the guy it was his cpu his chipset in charge of the pci-e and he brushed it aside and said contact powercolor. Is there anything else I can help you with today. The Burk. 🙂

Damn the devil to hell.

I still have the same problem on this new msi board B450M.

HDX sound card works in other machines. Not this one.

The card does not show in windows and so it has to be a bios problem. As it does not show there either.

One thing I noticed is that when i put in a generic sound card and changed the pci-e speed was that that card also would not show in the bios or show in device manager. This seems to indicate that its a pci-e problem again withMSI again?

The sound card design is 4 years old.

I have contacted MSI and reged my mobo. I do not think there will be a quick fix for this unless thay can give me a full blown unlocked bios.

Is it an msi bios problem or do you think gigabyte are using the same bios.

wonder if different devices are trying to use the same resorces??

You know they haave been piddling about with that quake engine for absolute years now with the ray tracing thing.

I remember reading in MM about it a decade or more ago.

But this looks mature.

I’ve still got my lumia 640 W8.1 bug free… Smashing phone all round. Apps have not caused me any problems. I have not run into a situation where I need a type of app and it is not available.

Been looking at the 950XL? fablet?? Because I like to watch movies on my phone and i rip Youtube 80’s pop vids. I hear ya: That dont impress me much.

I’ve had a bit of luck. My RMA mobo is out of stock and so I am having the same mobo as you Dave. I have also downloaded the overcloking Bios. Thats if they still work uner the same name that is 1006 agesa.

Yes, they are fast. My i7 is showing its age. AMD build for me this coming XMas. I figure AMD will have intel on the run at every level this year with the new 7NM fab. 🙂

ryeah goodly read. Reading in bite sizes to absorb better. The game engine was apparently maxed out for SOTTR.

New engine to be developed then. Any way in the new game they use mud deformation. Most affective eye candy. The article explains well and yes you can actually see that the shadow atlas is 16bit. Finished the main campaign to day with a classic boss fight at the end.

That game is serious low calibre… It probabley requires less umph than MSN home page.

I use ASIO when I can. Straingly enough foobar, which is the probably best free sound player+, does not as appear to use low lever ASIO. HQ player if you can get it to work, that is, the half hour free version, daily. is quite something, but noway is it worth £140 for what I would want to use it for. 🙂
