It all depends on whether Fat Boy Kim fancies his chances and goes for another missile or nuke test.
Frankly as I see it, sooner or later, if not now then in a year or so, the balloon will go up with Nth Korea. Because there is no way the USA will ever let them develop a Nuke ICBM capability that reaches the USA and Fat Boy Kim will not stop until he has that capability.
The fact is that all this can never end well – unless Fat Boy is taken out by someone on the inside or from the outside. We must all live in hope.

Thanks for the info. I’ll see what the Doc thinks next week, have to be careful because of the ever increasing range of medication I’m on. Recently found out that I’m severely vitamin d deficient so now taking that as well. Also I was suffering badly with mouth ulcers, side effect of the methotrexate – so I’m told, so had to up my folic acid. The pain is getting worse every day, the rate at which it’s getting worse seems to be slowing down a little, which is nice. Seeing the surgeon the start of next month. At least I think it’s the surgeon. Can’t find out for certain and no-one want’s to tell me one way or the other.
I presume you have the name of the doctor you are seeing. If it’s a surgeon then it will be Mr, Mrs, Miss or Ms. If its Dr. then its not a surgeon. See here for more info.

In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s two companies had the lion’s share of the desktop and laptop computer markets. Compaq was by far the king of the desktop market and Toshiba the king of the laptop arena. Oh how the mighty have and are falling although Toshiba also had its fingers in many other consumer pies.
In the modern world truly wide diversification is key, the Koreans have learnt that from looking at the most diverse of Japanese players – Hitachi.

I’m listening to the Empress of the Blues, the inimitable Bessie Smith.
No-one ever came close to singing the blues with as much pathos as her. But at the same time she could also sing gospel rock style or bang out a raunchy number as raw as ever could be in her days (1920’s America).
I have a list of ten people from the past that I would love to have met. Bessie is one of them and is the only singer.
I would recommend four songs that between them show her range,
The first two are at this youtube link. If you click on <Show More> on that page then a drop down list of her songs with clickable timings appears. Try:
Do Your Duty at 01:27:10
Gimme a Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer at 00:22:42
The other two are at this youtube link. Again click on <Show More> for a drop down list with clickable timings. Try:
On Revival Day at 01:34:12
Baby, Won’t You Please Come Home at 01:52:40

Pull together? Why should I agree to a course of action I see as the biggest mistake this country is going to make? Especially when there doesn’t seem to be a plan or anyone who could actually implement one properly. Farage and the Brexiteers had already said they wouldn’t accept a close result the other way around. The UK Gov referendum re-run petition was actually started by a Brexiteer before the referendum result. So let’s have none of this we won so you must do as we say crap. And the lies told are an issue, a huge issue, and an ongoing one. Something needs to be done about the sweeping under the carpet of “it’s just a campaign” lies, “everyone knows we make impossible promises” (but not admitted that truthfully). But a politician would never vote for such measures and would find some way to weasel out. As for using the ballot box to deal with the bad politicians, Neil Hamilton is still at it and leader of his party in Wales. It seems the only way to stop them is to lock them up – Archer, Aitken, Huhne etc. But we have the IRA (Bobby Sands) to thank for even that. John Stonehouse (remember him, the Reggie Perrin fake death) had to be made to resign. I can only hope that Trump’s “fake news” approach may prompt some action, but I doubt it.
I’m not sure I can agree that the situation is the same as if Remain had won; as regards not accepting the decision and pushing against it. To me the dynamic and consequences seem very different.
I presume that while you voted to remain, if we do leave you would want us to get the best possible terms/trade deal. Therein resides the rub. As I see it the EU is likely to be far tougher on a country it sees as divided than it may be on a country it sees as resolute and united. The EU’s instinct will surely be to gain the maximum advantage they can from the weaknesses and cracks they witness.
All I am saying, Dave, is I wonder if those still kicking against Leave aren’t in reality kicking themselves and may simply be ensuring that that which they perceive as a nightmare turns into their worst possible nightmare.

I have to say I agree. A multi-boot pendrive lives on my key-ring with Mint MATE, Mint XFCE, Puppy Linux (My own remastered version) and Hiren’s so I can boot to whichever I choose. There’s also a set of Windows Portable Apps.

I’d add only one thing and that is if you are using the M11 then take great care. The stretch from Duxford down to the M25 is fast open road and invites idiots to go pedal to the metal. Most RTAs that occur on that stretch result in fatalities. Its often long haul artic’s heading down for the channel ports that are involved. Not so many RTA’s on the north bound side. So just watch yourself mate and leave one hell of a gap in front of you on that stretch and overtake only when you’ve got an empty spare lane as a escape route if needed.

What do you do when running Windows and you want to know if you have a hardware or software problem? You reach for a Linux Live disc. Why not do the same here?
Boot Mint live from Optical Disc or USB pendrive and edit your docs as normal, then walk away for a while. If its hardware it will do the same as its been doing with installed Mint and fall over. If it doesn’t then it wasn’t hardware it was your Mint installation.

There’s also the (local) prank hack or aggrieved girlfriend revenge. Get to the laptop of someone who has auto login for everything and away you go. If that’s the case then jamesbond45 could well be one of the victims rather than the villain.

I’d be inclined to set up a new dedicated email address for EA’s to supply possibles for this house search only and then ditch the address once the job was done.
I always do that whenever there is a chance of getting emails for ever.

Talk Mobile has astoundingly good SIM only (12 month) plans as regards data. Their £12 a month plan gives 5,000 minutes, 5,000 texts and 12GB data. Talk Mobile runs on the Vodaphone network and allows tethering. The only drawback is that its only 3G. But if you are happy with that its hard to beat if you use a phone and tablet a lot.
If you must have 4G then Virgin’s 1 month rolling plan is 5,000 minutes, unlimited texts and 20GB for £15 a month.

February 1, 2017 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Base Clock Overclocking, what is this tepid new world of overclocking #3156If anything Underclocking is the new Overclocking getting things done on as little power as possible………….but of course mobo’s and cpu’s have long since been designed to do that. To a large extent the fun has gone out of hardware – with one exception, the Raspberry Pi’s. That’s where today’s hardware fun is to be found.

Isn’t that the BIG danger with Trump. Even his close team will be effectively under extreme pressure to be ‘Yes men’ because they all know that he doesn’t handle criticism very well.
A close team walking constantly on egg shells negates the safety net and moderation that such teams provide to balance a president.
To say I’m worried about Trump doing something very dangerously stupid is an understatement.

Looking at the full spec, 256k etc., the 20MB hard-drive (or Winchester as they were often called back then) stands out and would have been state of the art. My first proper PC was 640K, 20MB hd and a Hercules (high-res) mono gcard. I bought in three for the small company I was with at the time. That would have been 1988.

“… anyone with a pair of eyes can see the truth.” Unfortunately that is not necessarily true in this day and age. Even putting aside Photoshop and far more sophisticated video/photo manipulation programs, there are simple ways of putting up two photos to make the point you raise. Simply having the Trump shot before everyone was there and the Obama shot at the oath taking would be a very easy manipulation to perform. I don’t think the Beeb had a live camera on the Monument during the oath taking period, but if they did, that would be very difficult for anyone to dispute.
Have to say I would agree if it were just the Beeb or just media in general.
However, it seems that usage of the Washington public transport systems seems to concur that attendance was down. What worries me is that Trump’s press secretary claimed figures that the system itself disputes. In addition the preliminary Neilsen figures for television viewing also show that viewing of Trumps Inaug was lower than Obama’s first in 2009. So I am inclined to believe that in the main Trump’s inaug was less supported. That said its purely an academic argument as Trump will take no notice of it anyway or of yesterday’s protests. I don’t see him moderating his positions, indeed my guess is that he will simply harden them as most narcissists do in such a situation. Fasten your seat belts we are in for a very rough ride. The big question is what we the UK will do once Donald starts reaching for his gun as he is certain to do at some point on some issue because he is by instinct confrontational when challenged on an issue – just look at his past tweets.

No-one forced Apple or Ford etc to move their manufacturing overseas, they could have left it there and still made a ton of money. But that’s the Capitalist model for you, a race to the bottom on costs. Everything is about the bottom line. How that squares with being the political leader of a country I guess we’ll find out. Now we find out that Trump is already blaming the media for everything negative, even lying about the numbers at the inauguration when anyone with a pair of eyes can see the truth. This man <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>is</span> dangerous, make no mistake about it.
Agree 100% the guy is dangerous. But I’m not sure that I’d be happy if some shite surfaced and he was impeached because Pence is just as bad and perhaps worse in many respects. Concerning yesterday’s protests around the USA, which in the majority were women, Pence has stated that he can’t understand why their men let them attend !!!! Oh well I guess at least relations with Saudi Arabia will improve……..
