Rather naive , Ed? Do you not think the Commission aware that a two-thirds majority was needed for their removal would apply pressure such that many smaller states would be too fearful of retribution in the event that the coup failed to ever take part in it. Many supported the bomb attempt on Hitler’s life in WW2 but very few were confident enough to become involved. Such is the way of the world.

I suspect not much further. We are inherently a peaceful nation but one which rather than slowly become un-peaceful simply snaps at some point. The poll tax riots were one such example. The anger on social media and heard in the voices of callers to radio stations is already at a level I have not witnessed before. It elevated quite palpably exponentially yesterday evening after May announced her intention to involve a man who she had repeatedly held to be close to the devil incarnate and explicitly as a threat to UK security. Tory party members are cutting up their membership cards in high numbers and even posting pictures of them.
Frankly though, Bob, your fears for the UK mirror exactly my fears of where the EU is going. I fear it will very soon become an institution that those states that wish to leave will literally have to fight there way out of. Such civil wars are throughout history common where overly large federalisation occurs. We should not ignore the lessons of history.

I don’t disagree with what either of you just said, Ed and Dave, but it remains that if the whole UK wanted to remove the turds of Westminster we could but even if the whole of the UK wanted to remove the turds of the EU we could not. To say we do not lose sovereignty by being in the EU is simply untrue.
Just saw this video which confirms the duplicity of Westminster.

Yep the only difference between our politicians and the big wigs in the EU is that we can punish them at the next election and kick them out. I think its all too easy to forget that the likes of Juncker, Tusk and Verhofstadt were all Prime Ministers kicked out by their own native electorates. On that principle May could get kicked out and still become a President of the EU. Arrrrgggghhhhh…………………..?

2016 changed all political division lines in the UK; which in the end has exposed the fragility of the two party structure that results in even a monkey being able to get into Parliament provided he wears and swears allegiance to the right coloured rosette.
But look closer and we see as is clear now that MP’s even lie when they swear allegiance to their own parties. Come the next GE, despite what party manifestos say, they truly won’t be worth the paper they are written on. Because it will be every man for himself based in his/her patch’s Brexit majority.

“We’ve got the worst prime minister since Anthony Eden.” “We’ve got the worst leader of the opposition in the entire history of the Labour Party.” “And we’ve got the worst Parliament since Oliver Cromwell”
Go, Annie, go !!!

You are so right, Bob. Across the EU anti-EU sentiment is quite rationally growing very rapidly led by the young (except in the UK). The anti-EU Irish Freedom Party has just splashed with several billboard ads; the three shown here are powerful. The Irexit momentum is growing. What plonkers we will look as others move towards the exit door but we, who are stronger economically than they are, remain far too frightened to go through it.

No, Ed, Major sowed the seeds, Dave Boy was merely the one who nurtured them to full maturity and May is the one who is harvesting the crop. What a Team !!!

Let me get this right -Tradesmen, who are often sole traders with their office ‘in their pocket’ can go to a Sam Smith’s pub whenever they want to cut themselves off from their customer base, turning off customer service for their current and past clients and missing out on new business calls/leads. Round our way afternoon trade in the pubs in all but the summer is very often made up of 80% Tradesmen who have been ‘rained off for the day’.

Dave, the humiliation has always been the duplicity and spineless nature of those of Westminster. Listen to what is actually being said around the world, other than in the EU, and there are two constant leading themes and to which all others trail. The first is how could the UK have agreed (although in reality so far only May has agreed) to such a bad deal as it has which gives the EU all the power. The second theme concerns democracy, which the world looks to the UK as being the mother of. They see a vote by the majority to Leave and a Remainer Parliament swirling like rats in a sack seeking to thwart such. Only if Parliament gets some balls to kick away the bad deal and do what the people asked for (right or wrong) will the humiliation end.
There are times when a country needs a self serving rogue who by chance wants to and will go where the people voted to be taken. Churchill was very much the wayward self serving fool often described pre-WW2 as being a cad. David Lloyd George’s 1916 description of Churchill could well have been an epithet written re Boris today by his detractors, “You will one day discover that the state of mind revealed in (your) letter is the reason why you do not win trust even where you command admiration. In every line of it, national interests are completely overshadowed by your personal concern.” But then in 1940 cometh the hour, cometh the man. Perhaps, just perhaps history will repeat itself.

I have been hearing from disheartened Leavers too Dave. They are resigned to the fact that they will not get what voted for after all. The general consensus seems to be to take May’s deal now and fight to get us REALLY out within 2 years. Especially if we can get BoJo into No10
WoF all pundits say that the ToryPP will never put BoJo into the final two put to the general Tory membership. I once agreed but am increasing feeling that a possibility now exists that he might get into the last two. Plainly as indicated by my last post Euroscepticism has grown, the majority of the ToryPP now favour a Managed No Deal and BoJo is probably the only viable candidate likely to try to push that through. All social media stats show BoJo has greater appeal to all age groups than any potential rival. Tory eyes will be on who could win the next GE for them? Charisma counts. Gove, the backstabbing garden gnome? Rudd, who rightly or wrongly has Windrush tarnish? Hunt, the beloved of the NHS, not? Or BoJo, always self serving, at times a rogue but with naughty boy appeal who proved he can win big elections. Taking London twice is no mean feat it usually being a Labour stronghold. Perhaps, just perhaps he will get onto the final two shortlist put to the party at large. He’ll win there because the party faithful love him to bits. Who else could motivate grass roots activists, who overwhelmingly (68%) wanted No Deal, to go out and work their little socks off canvasing come the next GE.

Continuing from my last post –
Euroscepticism in the Parliamentary Conservative party is now in the majority. It is though easy to miss. In Indicative Vote 3 yesterday 126 Tories voted ‘Aye’ to a Managed No Deal with 122 voting ‘No’. This is significant in that it demonstrates that May is now out of step with her own party.
Most bizarre of all looking at IV3 was that despite being one of the architects of and a big advocate of the Malthouse Compromise, Plan B in that compromise being a Managed No Deal, she then went and voted ‘No’ in IV3. Naturally Kit Malthouse voted Aye as did all the other architects of that plan.

Quite true a GE is a possibility. But as regards the 40 years I return to a point that you have often contested. I put this all down to poor judgement by John Major.
It was Maastricht that was the full step from Trading Bloc to Political Bloc. That’s when a referendum should have taken place rather than wait until our entanglement with the EU grew infinitely. If there had been a referendum there and then either the UK would have fully committed to the EU political project or would have left before entanglement made leaving so painfully difficult. To leave the problem of Euroscepticism to simply fester in his own party and the country as Major did. without lancing it one way or the other there and then was pretty damn certain to develop into the national sepsis it became and is.

My bet is the MV3 fails and at least one state veto’s a long extension. No-one wants this to drag any longer or UK MEP’s back in Brussels. I truly think we are going No Deal via that route. Our Remainer Parliament can’t stop it except by Revoking Art50 which I don’t think they’ve the danglers to do.

That’s a lot cheaper than Central London. Something like that in Mayfair or Belgravia, 7 bedroom and the entire floor would be north of £50M.

You are correct but how crazy of the EU to pass such at this time with the young leading the Eurosceptic charge everywhere except in the UK. The young won’t like anything that restricts in part even only theoretically their liberty to us the net as they are currently using it. Its a double-barrelled self inflicted wound as I see it. The Dutch, ‘Nexit’ charge is beginning to get fully underway.

Never been of interest to me to have my own watering hole. In the main around here (near Heathrow) its increasingly a case of old pubs being taken over by restaurateurs then masquerading as pubs. Doubt there are more than a dozen traditional boozers within a three mile radius where at time of the millennium there were more like a hundred. I know because my second income in the 80’s and 90’s was pool hustling and very profitable it was. Great to go out for the night to play pool, which I love, and come home a ton or more richer. Let folks win a few quid and say the ante has to be far better before they get my best game. Folks think its mouth and volunteer their wallets. Of course you make sure you win but only by just edging it. At that point they’ll come again or someone else will fancy their chances. Warning though always make sure you have a couple of well built mates with you before you try that and you can’t pull the same trick twice in the same pub. I recall one night in 88 IIRC where I had continually and intentionally just edged games and they phoned up the pub’s top stick to come down. TBH he was good and he and his mates chipped in for a best of 9 for £150. Seeing his ability during the first rack which he very nearly dished from the break missing a difficult 8ball there was no way I was going to risk simply edging it with him. IIRC I won 5-3. He was cool about it but we left right after anyway.
While running a pub would not be for me right now if my other half were up to to it I’d be getting into the Glamping game. Its still growing in leaps and bounds but a lot of farmers can’t be bothered with it – Setting up, Advertising, handling bookings. etc There’s a niche opportunity there for someone to set up and run Glamping opportunities on any suitable/available land they have. Lots of folks who would never go traditional camping immediately fall in love with the convenience and romance of Glamping.
Fancy a romantic weekend away close to nature but without being too far from creature comforts – Try Glamping. Where else can you sit in a warm traditional bath tub with a glass of wine under the stars or spend a night in a quaint Shepherd’s Hut or stay in an oversized beehive.

By decent I ment TheDuke@mybusinesname.co.uk I used gmail for years, but now I’ve got a ltd I thing a real email is more professional. Luckily I got a great domain name. The pub is called The Glanglasfor, locally its known as The Glan. TheGlan.co.uk was free and cost me a whole 88p for the first year. So ill be using that once I set it up. Atm I have 100 and one other things to do first. But Contact@TheGlan etc… Fits in well with the name, and the type of place it is. That do you reckon Dave, Does it fit the pub?
No problem. It was just that your opening post gave no indication it was for business that was why I said I wasn’t sure what you meant by a decent addy. I certainly wouldn’t recommend the trick I did for any business purpose not even for a sole trader because GDPR makes doing it far, far too risky. Its really only a useful trick for private individuals acting as such.
