Hmm. All the parties that pledged to take the country out of the EU have gone backwards. The party dedicated to cancelling Brexit made spectacular gains, their best result for 15 years apparently. Surely in the Brexit bubble this can only be interpreted that the people have sent a message to Westminster?
I look forward to seeing the spin that this is in fact really good news for Brexiteers.
There you go again being a silly billy, Dave, and showing you’ve been spending too long out of the loop. The Brexit Party did not stand in the locals so there was no rallying point for Leave. Neither did Change UK which would have impacted the LibDem vote. All the results show is that no-one believes that the Tories or Labour are Brexit parties. Tell me, matey, if you were a Brexiteer which party would you have voted for? UKIP which is too soiled now anyway, stood in very few areas. A huge number of Leavers simply stayed home or soiled their ballot papers. And, boy oh boy did they soil them. Adding the Brexit Party and caling all the others Traitors or Remain Parties.
The EU elections later this month and the Peterborough by-elections will be the first real test and just about everyone on both divides of the Remain-Leave argument is aware of that. I thought everyone was but I now say ‘just about everyone’ because it is clear that you are so ill-informed as not to know. Please try to keep up, Dave. Its not that difficult really.?

So do I. The political divide is no longer along traditional party lines but across the Brexit divide. 38% of Scots voted Leave. If such align behind the Brexit Party and Remainers (62%) divide between Tories, Labour and SNP the results could be highly interesting. As Dacia say, “You do the maths”. These days FPTP could across the country work in Farage’s favour.

LOL ……… Farage has already said The Brexit Party will field Westminster candidates in ALL constituencies other than in N.I. You really should try to keep yourself up to speed before making assertions that are groundless. Oh sorry…… I forgot that you’d been spending time of late in Brexit free zones so perhaps that explains why you are out of touch. ?

HOT NEWS – Game on !!!
The Onasanya recall petition has succeeded with a massive 19,000+ of her electorate requesting her recall. Peterborough is a Tory-Labour marginal but also a heavily Leave voting constituency. In the 2015 General Election the votes were Conservative 18,684; Labour 16,759; UKIP 7,485.
In the EU Referendum Leave was 60.9% with 53,216 votes and Remain 39.1% with 34,176 votes. Turnout was 72.3%.
Needless to say Nigel Farage has immediately announced that The Brexit Party will be standing a candidate. Not sure if Change UK will. A total drubbing might result and be pretty much fatal for Chukka et al before they really get going as a party. My bet is that they won’t dare fight this by-election.

Today’s piece in The Spectator by Claire Fox, darling of the Left but now a Brexit Party candidate, for some reason almost brought me to tears. I’m not sure I know why but it did. This woman really knows how to communicate.

A bit of an aside but still a fascinating fact is that the chances of someone tried for rape being acquitted rise in proportion with the number of women in the jury. There are of course three possible reasons reasons for this. (1) Men are more likely to think bad of other men, are naturally more protective of women are and therefore convict. (2) Women distrust other women more than they distrust men and therefore acquit. (3) Its a bit of both.
My suspicion is that phone records will cause the number of convictions to fall further not just for the reasons suggested by others above but because even the slightest sign of either general promiscuity or ‘come on’ towards the accused in phone records can only lead to the CPS having even worse cold feet about prosecuting. I think that’s very unfair to women because even the most promiscuous of women can still be raped and a ‘come on’ does not automatically mean there will be consent at the time of the Act. As Max Miller said in one of his famous rhymes;
‘I like the girls who do. I like the girls who don’t. I hate the girl who says she will and then she says she won’t. But the girl I like best of all, and I think you’ll say I’m right, is the girl who says she never does but she looks as though she…Here!’

I have to agree Dianne Abbott terrifies me. She seems to be Chris Grayling’s soul mate; “Anything you can screw up I can screw up better. I can screw up anything better than you…..” I can’t help but feel that DA must have something on JC; who knows what she may have learned during pillow talk?
Returning to T. May for over two years she tried to wander around in No-Man’s Land between the two warring sides never making totally clear which side she was really on. Its hardly surprising that such led to both sides opening fire on her.
I do disagree though Bob about her still being a committed Tory. She is now merely a committed PM looking at her own place in history. She committed to achieving Brexit and frankly that is all that now remains as her goal. The grass roots don’t want her 79% to 21%. Most of the MPs no longer want her but are too frightened to oust her by a rules change. She has led the party to a point where it will be crushed in the local elections; slaughtered in the EU elections and has zero chance of winning the next GE. She can’t salvage any of that. Its too late. So all she now has is trying to fulfill her personal commitment to deliver Brexit. If Satan walked into No.10 and offered her Brexit but with a price tag of the Tories being out of power for three General Election cycles I have not the slightest and I mean not the slightest doubt she’d take his deal without even blinking.

Unless the Tories switch tack in a manifesto (probably under a Brexiteer Leader) to a position that recaptures the Leavers that are now flooding to the Brexit Party then they are toast not just at the Euro elections but at the next GE. That is surely clear now. I suspect the 1922 committee will rue turning down a rules change last week allowing May’s immediate removal. Fortune favours the brave but the Tories seem to have few if any of such ilk.
May is erratic enough to go for a GE. She has no personal seat to worry about unlike most backbenchers. A GE could be her personal weapon of last resort but its a doomsday weapon for most of her Parliamentary Party. After all May does indeed have something of ‘Dr Strangelove’ about her in her facial expressions.

Ed, the card I suggested is HDMI 2.0b. Its only the DVI that max’s at 1920×1200. Tippon was specific he didn’t mean a 4k gaming card, just TV output. The GT1030 runs 4K TV fine. See here.
For the record even the onboard graphics in Intel’s Kaby Lake processors will run H.264 4k playback no problem. 4k TV doesn’t take a lot of grunt its only gaming that does.

Not sure that I have all of the facts re any area but I do have a habit of researching things before making pronouncements. That comes from years of talking with Prof’s and other senior academics day in day out as part of my job. You’ll get chewed up very rapidly if you haven’t checked your facts before opening one’s gob. I’ve seen noobs in the same role as I had getting totally shredded and kicked out the door in close on a minute. Usually did them good too as they learned by it.
Do you recall pre-the referendum when the polls had Remain well ahead? What appears to have occurred was ‘Shy Leavers’ too fearful of stating where they stood for fear of being called racist, etc. But in the privacy of the voting booth no need to be shy. I am convinced that currently there are a lot of folks too ‘shy’ to talk Brexit believing others are bored with it; and indeed many are. So folks go with the flow to ‘fit in’. Such has never been my trait. I’m famous for lacking tact. But then folks who know me know that I don’t reach decisions lightly but when I’ve reached one I’ll stand my ground until I see conclusive evidence that it errs.
So, Bob, I guess my position is that there are are many folks just going with the flow while in public who may hold a different opinion in private. Much the same as pre-the-ref. I guess the EU MEP elections will give us all a better fix on where the truth/reality actually resides.
My bet, and I recognise fully that I’m putting myself up up to be shot at here if I’m wrong, is that the Brexit Party will do even better than the polls are currently suggesting and that is already suggesting an astounding surge.

ROFL……..Tippon wanted a ‘Very cheap 4k graphics card’ and you suggest a close on £300 GTX1060 6GB. Heck if you think that such is ‘very cheap’, Dan, come on own up you are really Bill Gates, aren’t you?
If its just 4K TV that as Tippon says he wants then any Nvidia GT1030 like this will do the trick but even that costs about £85. Lots of reviews of that card to read also there.

Don’t be a silly billy. No-one forces you to talk Brexit no matter where you are. Whether you do or not is always your own choice. So anywhere can be Brexit free if you want it to be. As for TV surely you know there are hundreds of channels where Brexit isn’t even mentioned. The thing about ‘behind enemy lines’ was meant as a joke hence the chuckle after it. Don’t take yourself so seriously all the time, Dave.

I can well understand why you didn’t want to talk Brexit in Rhyl, Dave. Rhyl voted heavily in favour of Leave so you were, given your own views, ‘behind enemy lines’. ?

Yes, while still serving, employees of the ONS could/would probably be barred from standing for office. That’s why he resigned so he could stand. But suggesting that he would be barred from revealing his CV after resigning is preposterous. It’s like saying Kier Starmer should have kept it under wraps that he was previously the DPP. Besides what should folks do, try to exercise their right to be forgotten on Linkedin, etc., and ask every publication that has ever mentioned their name while in post to erase those records. Of course someone standing for office has a right to, indeed an obligation to, make their CV available. You’re flogging a totally dead horse on this one, Ed, and making yourself look rather silly.

For completeness regarding the above and to explain what I meant by an agent of government rather than a government agency, the ONS is the executive office of the UK Statistics Authority. It is a non-ministerial department that whilst being independent of any current government is funded by the state and reports directly to parliament. Its relationship to Parliament is similar to, for example, the Information Commissioners Office. Not under the control of any minister but nonetheless obliged to report directly to parliament.

By chance, Ed, you touch on something I have some knowledge of when you talk of post employment restraints. One often sees such clauses for example where one must not work for a competitor for x number of months after leaving. Those restraints are almost always unenforceable and are usually when tested held to be unlawful.
However the post employment restraint you were suggesting had me truly ROFL. The ONS is a government agency, not directly but as an agent of the government which in law is little different !!! Surely, you knew that, Ed. Any court would die laughing if a government agency or government agent attempted to force an individual who was standing for public office to conceal his CV from the electorate. That really is too funny for words. I trust when that dawns on you, Ed, you too will see the funny side of what you were suggesting. ???

VFM wrote: ” Such are a whole different calibre than UKIP candidates ever were. Notice also that they come from both sides of the former political divide. ” – As do the members of Change UK (TIG) which you scorned a few pages ago. It’s all in the eye of the Beholder I guess. ………
LOL……. you are indeed out of touch as you most graciously admit, Bob. ChangeUK have been having to deselect candidates hand over fist. Yesterday, or was it the day before, they had to unceremoniously remove another, Joseph Russo, the CUK-TIG candidate for Scotland. He had tweeted that “black women scare me” and that he was once “chased through Amsterdam by a crazy black whore.” He also defended teacher relationships with students, appeared to defend a lower age of consent, and attacked Scottish Catholics as “loony”. The latter not being wise given that he was looking to be an MEP for Scotland. Me thinks that ChangeUK are not really vetting candidates but are happy to take anyone who will enrol to part crew the Political Titanic that polling increasingly indicates they are.

This is the batch of Brexit Party candidates announced today:
- Louis Stedman Bryce, Investor and businessman.
- Lucy Harris, Former fishmonger, opera singer, and Director of Leavers of Britain.
- Martin Daubney, Journalist and commentator, former editor of Loaded Magazine.
- James Wells, Former Head of Trade at the ONS. Wells resigned yesterday in order to stand for The Brexit Party.
- Elizabeth Babade, Nigerian born lawyer.
- Dr Henrik Overgaard-Nielsen, Chair of the General Dental Practice Committee. Danish born trade unionist and NHS dentist.
- Dr David Bull, Medical doctor and television presenter.
Such are a whole different calibre than UKIP candidates ever were. Notice also that they come from both sides of the former political divide.

I see you are missing the point also, Ed. This is now about building a new party which sooner or later will bring about a clean Brexit. Listen to the new rhetoric. It is nothing like the UKIP position of old. It is developing a broad based party. Just look at the type of candidates being revealed each day.
