The way I see it the only reason this forum is still alive is because of a few people, like a little private club going here, but not really private. I only pop in now and then for some advice because I know you all are knowledgeable in some area or another. And, like it was mentioned, only the ones from this club will pay the membership. Most likely not everyone. And eventually even they will start dropping off. I have seen kitesurfing forums die out in the last few years even though they were free – it all moved to Facebook.

I think the best option (as already mentioned) would be either a Closed or Public Group on Facebook. Some of the older member on here might not be keen on FB or maybe don’t even have accounts but I’m sure they can be persuaded to give it a try and they will see that it’s not so bad.

Another option (as mentioned) is donations. And just have a meter at the top of the page that shows what the target for the month is and how much has been donated. Payments through PayPal of course. Time would show if it is going to work or not.

I can relate to the password joke. When I was forced to open an MS email account I ended up with something like MicroSoftareW**k*rs123456. Also, what really annoys me when it comes to passwords is when the account gets locked because someone tried to log in from an unknown device and I need to change the password to log in… If some one tried to log in and failed why do I need to change the password?

Yes, it’s the Moto G 4G. I found out about the CM’s demise after a bit of googling. Tried installing the LineageOS but failed. Fortunately it did not brick my phone and it started again. But it was like a new installation start. And it has fixed the problem. I made a post on the LineageOS Reddit page about it asking for help but as I only just register it won’t be for 24 hrs before it goes live.

Here is a copy in case some of you have the required understanding  🙂

My phone (Moto G 4G, XT1039) started crashing today so I tried to flash the LineageOS. I was on CM 13.0, I think, at least that what it says now, to my surprise my phone wasn’t bricked. I followed the instructions – ADB/Fastboot, checked it’s unlocked, I have ClockworkMod. But the install failed. I then googled a bit and found old instructions which said to do some wipes so I did that (I somehow missed that part in the original instructions) but still no luck. Any ideas what went wrong? This is what it said:

          “Installing: /sdcard/0/ROM(whatever the name is).zip

          Finding update package…

          Opening update package…

          Installing update…

Target: 1495715127 could not detect file system for: /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system at /system: No such file or directory

unmount of /system failed; no such volume

          Patching system image unconditionally…

E1001: Failed to update system image.

          E: unknown command [log]

          E:Error in /data/media/0/ROM.zip

          (status 7)

          Installation aborted

EDIT: I didn’t know what adb push was so I just copy/pasted ROM.zip from computer to phone over USB.”

Can’t  start a new topic in the Android section. Says “ERROR: forum id missing” just above the title when I press “submit”. A problem my end or something else wrong?

Also, the Audio-Technica headphones had a very short lead.

I take it they now make true surround sound headsets? I had one a considerable number of years ago. Back then it was the only true surround sound headset on the market – multiple drivers per ear. The others were marketed as surround sound but were just ordinary stereo headsets trying to emulate surround sound through their softwares. I played lots of online FPS games back then and it helped me judge direction of shots fired. It was fairly good for it iirc.

I have the Audio-Technica headphones you linked. Had. One ear stopped working a few days ago so I binned them. Good sound quality for price. Looked well built. No idea what happened to it. The only issue for me are the ear cushions. Too hard for my liking. Especially after they aged a bit that fake “leather” became rather hard and hurt my ears after longer periods of use. That reminds me I need to find a new pair to buy. This time I want a large pair that can cover my entire ear.

It looks like the old fashioned way is the way for me here. I tried a couple randomly selected websites from wasbit’s list but they all lack one feature I thought was going to be fundamental to them all – resizing a piece of furniture. My goal is to find a way to cram all pieces of furniture I need into a smallish bedroom.  I think I’ll draw my room on a graph paper and then do cut-outs of paper to represent furniture of various sizes and see what I can make fit.

Good luck with Blender – it is not ‘simple’, you may need to stick at it. Custom furniture could be quite a hard task. You may be better off making a cardboard model of your room from a shoebox and then use lumps of playdoh to model your furniture.

You might be right, just doing my own sketches might be a lot easier.

Is this any good for you ? http://opunplanner.com/interior-design-software.php

I tried that one, doesn’t allow to resize furniture. And they don’t even have a super kingsize bed.

Looks like there are loads of online versions of this tool. All pretty bad though. All furniture shops seem to have them but only let you use their furniture they currently have for sale which is not good if you want to see how it will fit in a room with different furniture. And none allow you to take a generic piece of furniture and resize it to achieve precise duplication.

Will try Blender later and see how that goes.

But I would balk at illegally downloading anything that robbed someone of profit for their work.

That is a grey area too… Are you really robbing them of their profit? I just came back from the cinema ( watched Cheese Feast 8) because it’s the kind of movie I enjoy watching in the cinema and I watch all those movies in the cinema as they come out. And I almost never watch the same movie twice. So when I occasionally do pirate watch a movie it’s something I think is not worth paying money for and I only do it to kill time. So even if the Movie Studios had it their way and all illegal streaming/downloading was banned/blocked I would not watch that movie for a fee. I would play a computer game or read a book or watch something on YouTube instead. So am I really robbing them of their profit when I watch some movie during which I can’t stop thinking why someone made it at all?

“…XBMC’s Project lead Martijn Kaijser said that blocking these add-ons wasn’t an option…”

that doesn’t sound like they are going to block pirated content off, only that they to invite legit content. But I don’t really know much about Kodi or how it all relates and gloss-over articles like that mean zilch to me…

You would be surprised how many set off on their journeys only knowing the name of their destination and that they need to go down M4 or such to get there. And yes, Google Earth is excellent for scouting out locations like parking, for me personally it’s finding new kitesurfing locations with parking where it comes in handy.

I noticed that a while ago. You have to go to the satellite view (Earth) by clicking on the square in the bottom left corner and then select 3D in the bottom right corner. It’s nice for exploring places.
