Lately I keep getting a standard desktop with “We can’t log you in …”  As I don’t have any password etc there isn’t any logging in to do.  A simple reboot fixes it so far but it does have me a little worried.

I watched a program about (Tesla I think) giving thousands of people simulated choices, e.g. hit the school kids or the granny and forming statistics on human behaviour to give the AI a ‘moral’ code.
Accidents will happen, people will die – probably much fewer than with humans driving – but the value of life still has to be specified for a machine.

I have also seen a similar thing – a railway bridge too.

Be very careful when you check out it asks you twice now if you want Prime but the second time it tricks you with a green “Yes please” and a red “OK then” button.  Next to that is a white “No Thanks” button.

I try to stay away from anything related to politics. I know one fact about it (and that’s all I need to know) – there is no honesty or truth there. But I just watched this video on YouTube due to pure boredom after it popped up on Facebook. I now actually regret having watched it as I just can’t stop thinking how screwed up this world is. But it’s an interesting video nonetheless. A link for those who want to watch it:

I don’t believe it, looks like just a repetition of rumours.  Well made but lacking in any real substance.

I know it’s a short way off yet but I have so many hopes for carbon nano-tubes and yet it looks like they will be a major ecological problem.  A bit like asbestos crossed with micro-plastic.

Early morning on the BBC there was a bloke discussing news stories and he seemed clued up.  He said that Russia is not like the UK and that getting hold small quantities of Nerve agents through bribery or corruption etc would very possible.  He also said that the victim has crossed at least 300 ‘spies’, potentially having links to nerve agent suppliers.
He didn’t say it wasn’t Russia, just that there is a strong possibility that Putin wasn’t aware of it.

Yes, a massive oversight!  But the $15 store credit they gave everyone has very much restored good will.  Admission of guilt and a fix and compensation to about 250,000 owners, all within 24 hours.  That is good customer  service.

I once swapped hard drives between two machines, both with Win10.  I didn’t realise but one was Home and one Pro.
The Home version started auto updating itself to Pro but the Pro version wouldn’t downgrade to Home and wanted me to upgrade or suffer the consequences.
It wasn’t an issue for me because I was then going to restore the disk images back onto the swapped drives but interesting that everything worked fine, installing motherboard drivers etc without problems.

I think Ed you are about right with your estimation (1st post) but I don’t have any trust in this government.  May is back handed and has a hidden agenda, if you listen carefully you can hear many stories not being picked up.  e.g. When May had her meetings regarding the Irish border she tried to keep the Irish government out of it until after agreements had been made – a deliberate attempt to push her plans against her perceived will of a democratic process.

I feel an end to this which suits me is unlikely (Remain and Corbyn in power).  At best we don’t leave but I think May will scupper out chances and burn our bridges before she lets that happen.  Then there is the possibility that with Remain on the horizon she calls an election knowing that Labour will win and get blamed for it.  But most of all I suspect that we will remain pretty much as we are but with a lower standing in the EU.  Hopefully we won’t give absolute power back to our government and the ECJ still scrutinise us.

As a devout Remainer from the start (finding it incredulous that Leave even stood a chance) the only way they could get me to go along with the Leavers would be a second referendum.  I believe the country has changed it’s mind and we are now heading down a destructive minority path for the wrong reasons.

P.S. on a side note, did you see the recent net immigration figures?  It looks like somewhere between our Xenophobia and the Exchange rate that nobody wants to come here anymore.

Hitchi was a name buyout years ago, like so many: MG, Atari etc.

It is just a branding to increase value of cheaper brand items – like you have found out!

After 2 days I suffer from sea legs and sleep slightly dizzy.  Even scrolling windows makes me feel like I’m falling backwards.
I wouldn’t like it as a full time job but then I don’t much care for my current job either.
Almost done now, moved top soil to the other side of the garden and dug out all the clay under it. Now waiting for a grab lorry in the morning to take it away.  Just spreading and leveling to do, then hole for trampoline and move sand which I found in the corner for driveway foundations.  Bonus!

I don’t think they care what they arrest him for, it just gives them permission to go through all his stuff, take copies and collect data on everyone he knows at the black hat convention.

In fact, it probably better if he is innocent because he is more likely to cooperate and give them his passwords that way.

Very interesting, I should really invest.

However, more pressing is a secuirty camera and the X1 looks about perfect.  Just two things, what is the motion detection like (for parking) and is it possible to view/download over wifi?

I currently have a 1080p camera but the quality is poor.  Image is 1080p when viewing but only 720p for record and the motion detection is awful!  Plus, it keeps stopping recording.

                                        \\\\\\thats astonishingly close. I blame the motherboard. He,he ?

I suspect your rig slightly tops mine but my SSD evens it out.

I’d guess one part took all the damge if the machine was off. Probably knackered motherboard but I suspect all other components wilk be ok.
I had a similar situation a few years ago but forthnatley just the usb fried. A new pci-e card and the machine was good as new again.
Also, I’ve heard many reports that it is just the first device plugged into an extension socket that gets it. If nothing else, worth plugging the printer in first, you never know.

That little short dude is going to be a very close No. 2 or perhaps even the No.1 with a figurehead.
While the dragon bird is poised to win, I can’t see her ruling over both continents.

Perhaps she will be overall ruler but leave dwarf dude running the colder areas.
