The back of the Onkyo tx sr 307, it said impedance of 6 to 16 ohms, the speakers I have in place are one 8ohms and four at 4ohms. I don’t know what the sub is.

The back of the Onkyo is way above me.  I can get all the speakers to output when I run the config from the men but for the life of me, I can’t get all 5 to work together. Either the rear two or front 3.

Also, have an issue with the sub, my sub doesn’t have a connector, it just has two wires (like most speakers do), the Onkyo expects an RCA (iirc)type connector. So I have an RCA that has two females on end and single male the other. So I quickly bastardised an old RCA wire, connected a male end to both (chocolate box style), then plugged both into the 2-1 RCA connector. didn’t work.

So I’m now at a loss but have a centre, left and right. This will be revisited after Xmas.

      Probably with a £50 soundbar.

The amp looks cool, and I bet sounds ok to, that is if a none fool set it up.

Where is the impedance kept? I’ll have to get one of the speakers down tomorrow. I just wanted a  quick in-out job

I feel like im being led towards that Smith and jones hi-fi shop routine here

The head unit isn’t that good, think its a 2009 year model. But probably cost more than the £130 ish my surround sound DVD player cost in around 2006/7.

Could the cheap speakers off the Phillips set up, not be up to the better head unit.

TX SR 307 is the make. I thought it looked ok, my 23-year-old said: “was that your dads”!

Thanks, I took a gamble and bought an Onkio Jobie, off ebay but a local  pick up (first for me). Not what I wanted per say, probably over kill, but has hdmi inputs, digital and analog. So everything should hook up. all I’ll use is hdmi.

Iirc the way its been hooked up for the last 6 years or so is a “temp workaround” that become permanent. So Atleast now it will be done proper.

That’s if it works. Lol that’s tomorrow’s job now. Need to cut off the old Phillips plugs off the existing speakers, and jam the wire in their correct holes.

Wife sent me Tesco earlier for some bits. She just informed me WE are going tomorrow early to do a Xmas shop.

                  2 issues

                  1. Why could I of not got it today?

                  2. We are away from 11 am Xmas day, so what actual shopping do we need?

I’m gonna palm her off with her mother I think. I ain’t going near town tomorrow.

I can whole heartedly recommend the keyboard app Gammarly . wish I could move the emoji button. Other than that I quite like it.

My pig of a day, not on your scale, but still, a pig, turned out to be last Friday. I Was meant to have my 4 wisdom out at the local hospital. they took the 2 uppers out and said the lowers need more investigation, something about the roots lying to close to the main nerve i my jaw.

I wasn’t to bothered at the time, but she must have done some poking on my lower left side, as all week, day by day, has been getting worse. Last night I had to revert to some of the wife good painkillers to get to sleep, slept from about 3 am until noon! Must be a record for adult men. Even though I still feel ‘groggy’ now. Not nice tbh

the tooth is sorer than ever! Not impressed at all. Can hardly open my jaw. Need a haircut too, not going, and defo not tomorrow. So I’m gonna look unkempt for Xmas.

After buying a laser printer, I’m not going back to inkjets. I print sporadically, can lot, but weeks or months in between. this Samsung laser (iirc cheap ) has never, not once, Failed to print. Also, cartridges last for about 7500 pages iirc and cost £20.

I only got a mono, as if I want pictures it’s either the yearly picture book and every photo book site is always doing deals. The other time is for jr school presentations. So no work having a photo spec printer, for 99.9% just documents. Which end up being scrap paper for the kids to draw on.

EE was t-mob . being the border I am I still have the results on my phone since March. 128gb does come in handy.

It was higher than I remembered.

Just ran a test on the bed. That too was higher, if it was unlimited, id have no need for broadband at this point

We not bothering, just the normal shop. Out all day Xmas will pop in Tesco on the way home boxing day morning. If they don’t have the food for a roast well eat pizza. Cut it into small triangles and call it a buffet.

Them we are away until I thin Saturday. So that is when I’ll need to do a shop.

This has been the most chilled exams ever. All gifts bought before December and wrapped, bar a tablet I have to set up.

Usually, it’s a mental week, which ends up in a wrapathon on Xmas eve.

It’s like all done. Even the tree went up early. Wife doesn’t like the tree, so she leaves it as late as possible, and she will put it the way the 27th if you’d let her. I got the big ones to put it all up the last day of November .it was great, she went mad. Lol.

The US and AUS (iirc) toysRus hit the ropes about a year ago. The UK arm said some job losses and closers where coming last month, let’s hope it at least see Xmas though, and doesn’t spoil any little’uns Xmas day.

I sure won’t be buying off them online. Hated the shop anyway. The clone shop Smythes is even worse, with a shocked web store too.

The books are ok. my 9 years old was reading them in school last year, so we ended up getting some. Not bad for kids books.

She likes them, she has read them a few time. Unlike the R Dahl books, she didn’t like the majority of them. Not enough for her to return to them, or speak of them that much

I get about 10-15meg at home, but I’d say the local area is 3 to 5 meg.

In Manchester i did clock 45meg and was amazed.

Doubt the cats will notice Lee.

There have been stories of Amazon struggling, I pit it done to the snow, and touch wood had no issues.

For so many to go astray in such a short point of time, probably a thief.

@drezha the one I got last night turned up and it’s quite good. Well very good for 9.99 and the app can have up to 20 devices connected.

It’s bt, not wifi so you need to be in reach for it to work, but it has parameter alarms and real-time monitoring.

It has no Alexa or google assistant capability, but I’m sure I could use an app to monitor the notifications from the app to trigger stuff

If so I’d set an old phone up within distance to monitor and have ifttt report it/trigger etc. Sending the trigger to a nest etc via Alexa/assistant  ….

An Arduino would be the simplest way to monitor temps etc, or/and a pi, far more flexible but for under a tenner and 12-hour delivery, it’s a good.

If the output of parameters can be manipulated, it would be a cheap way to have a ‘trigger’ in each main room.

I think its a battery hog, but having an old android or iOS device use as the brains, plugged in would solve this.

I’m sure you could bypass the pi and use an Arduino to gather the data and push it to an android phone via bt, that could then send it to your server.

So many ways to skin a cat. I think I may get one of these for the tortoise house.
