Having lower back issues, I can’t use crutches at all. I may get away with a left leg hurt, as I naturally favour my right side now, even though I’m a lefty, but it would be impossible for me you move around on crutches using only my left leg.

I opted for an auto car because clutching I’m beaver traffic would hurt my back after a few mins, and if my back was already playing up, it made driving sometimes impossible.

I still love driving manuals, time to time, but I’m a full convert, especially if you can take over the gearing when needed. Like when taking over people. Without being able to manually drop a gear, makes overtaking that bit more dangerous, as the box may take a good half a second to drop down then add the turbo lag, minuscule as it is, can make an overtake feel rather precarious. So I’ll drop back a few car lengths, so I can see, drop a gear, bring the revs up, and then pull out, and fly past. Nothing at all to do with crutches.

I want an Octavia next, but it looks like the wife will need something a little higher, so I may have to opt for some type of crossover (i feel old and defeated), plus a higher car would also be good for my back, and its not going to get any better with time. So if we don’t go Octavia, its looking like a pug 3008 gt line, (mid trim)as I just love the interior, even the wife liked that, she has no interest in cars what so ever, or the new Rav4 hybrid. As that has decent power at 200bhp, pulls well, and will get 46mpg which is great for a car of its size. Also, all 3 will fit a wheelchair. Though that isn’t that important, as its cheaper and better to buy a more expensive, compact and for me, lighter chair. Which would fit in most cars, golf size?

I’d actually love a Fiesta ST 200, but I think that is pushing it. Given kids, and the wife’s needs, so maybe I’ll get back to a hot hatch once the youngest is older. Though I may get a cheaper mx5 for my fun car. Pick them up real cheap and the old ones are just as fun if not more so than the new ones. Also, you can put a turbo on the old ones, and gain quite a bit of power, for little money or effort.

There we go I went from crutches to chairs. All on topic. Interspersed with fun car stuff.?

        No spoilers here.

Episode 7 of season two (todays) is very good. Best ep of GT and Top Gear in probably 8 years.

Usually I just watch it I’m the background, but today I ended up watching it proper. Even the refueling bit, the low point, was half decent. Guests are good also.

        Enjoyed it.

I was Suprised that GOG still had me logged in. Must be a year or more since I last visited them.

Lol, yes, Dorris is the same, you know when she is having a good day as she searches the house to moan about my mediocre cleaning.

I hope all is well, and will become well, for all the peeps here and their loved ones.

It’s amazing how common these things are. I never mentioned the wife’s ills for about 2 years. Sometimes its just good to vent to semi strangers. (No disrespect meant).

One of my wife’s issues with being ill are that everyone still avoids the issue, like walking on eggshells. Now given how common this is its a strange occurrence. I think it may be a British thing. As a nation, we are emotionally retarded. Stiff upper lip and all that.

Though if the nation is emotionally retarded, i could be its king. I’ll listen and talk back if i must, but i don’t ever let things show. I think this normal, its what i know, my wife thinks me strange.

I don’t do mourning either, which freaks her out completely. Not that I don’t miss people, i just find it a waste of time, the same a worrying, it achieves nothing.

Rather further along the evolution road, or broken. My wife thinks the latter.

If it was me I’d reinstall windows. Since i swapped to “ill fix it by wiping it, so make sure you’re all backed up”, slowly but surely all the annoying ” friends” have stopped asking me.

Hunting done viruses etc can take a lot of time, something i no long want to waste messing with others pcs im my spare time.

In all honesty, Windows 8 was a godsend, i refused to upgrade to it myself, so would tell people i don’t know how to fix 8, which wasn’t a 100 %, but convenient for me, and had some truth to it. Plus the none tech savvy had no idea, and if they were savvy enough they should be able to figure whatever issue out themselves.

Wipe it, give it back. If you’re feeling generous, back up their docs etc. Bit i wouldn’t, as they will be back. People only learn the hard way.

If it ain’t backed up before it gets to me, you’ll lose it.

Chris, rw grading what you say about “life safely” in a normal carpark where people are slowly coming and going in a steady trickle that would be fine, shower in the one at liverpools case, that carpark is mainly for the Areana, this means it has the best part of 15k people decent into it at the end of a show. It ends ups with queues up every stair case, its a mess. And even longer queue in cars to get out of the place. If a fire was to start in this period, i doubt they could get all out in 30mins.

Locals don’t use the muti storie as it adds a good 2hours onto your night. There is quite slot of free street parking within a 5 min walk.

Why don’t they have some type of sprinkler systems? It’s not like they can damage cars by dumping tones of water or foam on them.

On a related issue, we buy my SiL and niece tickets to the horse show for Xmas each year, usually its the last show (the night of the fire) however this year they went the afternoon the day before. She would of been pissed if her car got burnt down, she only got it in December .

Om not the biggest One drive (ms) fan, however as it’s related, sort of to this thread, ms is about to roll out File Restore to it, for the files made with office.

I’m assuming the file will need to be constantly saving and syncing all the time, unless it does all the auto saves client side, them uploads all data (file and change data) when the user saves/auto saves.

Either way, it makes ome drive that much more favourable.

What is the cheapest entry in the the synology club? Atm i get by with a single 1tb drive plugged into my router. It shows up as a disk drive on the PCs and macs(yuk) of the house, and the phones use es explore to see it.

It’s about ⅔ full with films, (dont ask) so at some point I’ll either have to replace the 1tb with a 2tb, and copy everything over, or i could get a dual drive server setup, and get the added advantages of that. Thou i have a few pi’s doing nothing atm, plus a USB hub, though the pi is usb2, so maybe that may slow access down. I know usb3 will happily handle 4 720p media streams at once.

Although that’s never happened at home, only in the car with the hdd attached to a hootoo passport router (and 10kmah battery optional).

Great bit of kit btw, if your traveling far with kids. A real in car Netflix. Also let’s phones (or PC) see each other so then can play mutiplayer wan party style multiplayer mobile games.. All of £20 well spent.

@ricedg eventually yes, took her beat part of 3 years. She got it about a month or two after i got the current car.

I’ve not looked to see if motability is the best for us, but it will be looked into.

She got pip, it had changes from the old time she got accepted. Her issue was, to much wrong with her.

As she was under a handful of different consultants for different things, her application always lapsed before they all got back, due to hols, sickness, slowness etc.

Eventually one of the Macmillan ladies at the hospital sorted it our for her. It’s a good job she wasn’t reliant on it, as she would of been f#+ked. The system is broken, especially when you know of people on it, that trully don’t need it.

The only use I’ve found for the badge, is free tolls.other than that, we haven’t used it in two years. I drop her at whatever door, then drive to the safest most further corner of any car park. I don’t trust other drivers, and their doors, and hate people that abandon trollies.

The trolley ditchers rank higher than Isis on my hate radar. Id execute the f#+kers.

My wife has that, if it isn’t real silver or gold, her ears go green off earrings. High maintenance! Or awkward!

Iirc the first Fitbit has a nickel back and they soon rushed out a new model. If it wasn’t Fitbit, its was one of the big first fitness watches

I’m allergic to shark leather. I found out when i bought a relatively expensive and rugged Adidas watch in the 90s. I was to cheap to buy a G Shock. Plus they was ugly and bulky.

im not a of the new ‘softer’ swift, hopefully the sport jazzes it up a bit, as i really like the outgoing swift sport 3 door. I think it’s a better and less common, thinking persons mini.

When i seen the new swift launch i was saddened, much like the new fiesta. Something about the fiesta, it seems to flip flop from good to bad looking, each cycle. It’s far from bad looking, i just think the out going I’m some of its sportier trims, preferably in 3 door, is brilliant  (i dont like small cars with 5, even though i hate loving with a 3 door) though ford have a lot of work to do on their interiors and enfotainment systems, ford sync sucks.

The only ford car id put up their enfotainment is a first at 150/200, as id be buying it for its fun. Anything else they do would be a deal breaker. I like the kuga, but i just couldn’t. Toyota are in a similar place, though their Rav4 hydrid is awfully close to the top of my list, in the summer.

Also going to look into what motobility has to offer. Now wife has her badge. Start that search about easter.

If i could justify it id get a another dell xps13. I had the xsp1330 back in the day and loved it, super powerful for the day, with discreet gpu it was a we monster, with one issue, sub 1h battery life. That’s how i ended up with a £1600 thinkpad x200t, with the super effiant su9400 (iirc) CPU, for its time no one was getting 8h of battery.

The major drawback to getting the think pad is the keyboard and nipple. Love them both. Nothing is like them. I don’t even thin the new ones are as good. Totally spoilt.

The new dell xps 13, just looks the business, and is around £1100 spec depending. Though i know I’ll know I’ll always want the TP keyboard, no matter how good, pretty or expensive the machine, ill never be 100% satisfied.

O know have a cheap referb thinkpad, it does all i need from a windows lappy, and had the keyboard.

So money no object would me getting dell to but a vintage TP keyboard in the new dell xps13.

Not interest it a gaming laptop, due to battery drain, learnt that lesson the expensive way, cost me about £1000, for a laptop that got about 3 months use as my primary lappy.

Bob – i may be wrong, dave will surely pit me right quick. I seem to recall something about if you use a range extender it half’s the speed. Not too bad if you have 20meg or above, bit 3-6 meg, you could kill the bandwidth just to extend the signal .

I’m sure dave will slap me down, or fill the holes in. I’ve never used a second router, in bridge mode, i think it’s called, so have no experience, just some vague memory that maybe totally wrong.

My wife only has a provisional, that she got in the 90s. She has no intention to ever drive, but she has always been on my insurance. I think when i was a new driver not knocked about £100 off my policy.

Also declaring your married knocks a few quid off too.

The strange thing in this instant is its cheaper for the non e driver to be the policy owner over someone with many years clean driving.

Another quirk of insurance is for the past ten years or so every policy I’ve had has been around £280, no matter the car. So i got a quote on the ka for jist me, and it was £260.

Also i called the other insurer of the pug, (its a 206 not 306 i mentioned earlier). Anyhow on that car I’m the lead driver, with my lad and girl as named.for me and the lad it was 200 cheaper than me the lad and my girl. As she didn’t need to be on the insurance anymore i thought I’d take her off. The girl said ok, but your premium is going up by £80 plus a £25 fee. Makes zero sense, but needless to say, she is still on the pug too.

Cheers. I doubt it does tbh, I’ll just take some earphones for the journey home.

Just insured it, for me and her as a named driver the insurance was £520, however for her and me as a named driver its only £365. I have no idea how that makes sense. She is still on a provisional i have 10 plus years of no claims, so you would expect the former to be cheaper. Not moaning though, cheaper, and she gets to start her no claims off.

The pug os similar output iirc its a 1.3 with 59hp 12 years ago. The same as the ka.

My mum had two of the originals, the 1.3z ,like ice just got, and she upgraded to the posh collection one, leather seats, aircon, electric windows and the bigger 1.6 engine. The small bump in power was cancelled out by the added weight. The 1.3 model was better. I loved that ka, i squashed 7 of us in it, one wedged in the boot, 4 in the back. It effected the acceleration somewhat, but oh my it effected the breaks more. Lol.

When i pick it up Monday morning at about 8am, ill have about a 2 hour drive home to get to know it.

Question for you, does the ka have an aux in? I know the new one does, MiL has one. Not a patch on the original ka.

Disable that in the settings. I must admit that being annoying but it’s easily turned off. Forgot about it actually.

Edit- scrap what i said, i mist of been thinking of another app, i thing hotspot shield maybe, as I can’t see any mention in tc of any on/off memory thing. Also looked through my apps and have no sneaked in memory organiser.
