I’ve never seen it as being dumbed down. The pc was mainly for geeks that liked to tinker. Then the Internet and social media took off, and if you wanted to join in, you briefly needed a pc, then laptops became acceable, then phones/tablet ls arrived.
I’d say the number of ‘tinkerers’ and ‘workers’ will still be the same if not greater, it just now they have gone form an almost 100% majority to probaly 1% of the digital users.
The geeky stuff and people are still tinkering, but the every day users (normal folk) use simple consumption devices, and no the creative devices (pc’s).
The issue always was that the pc was to complicated for people that just wanted to consume content, so it’s sales was over inflated for about 6 years until better consumption devices arrived.
If the consultancy is good, that’s a good starting point. I’ll be interested in hearing how you get on in the future.
This is just ad I’m starting to cut alot of meat out of my diet. So not the best timing at all. I’m not going veggie, just minimising the meat I eat, almost never eat dark meats no more. I’m down to a bit of chicken (boring chicken) a week, and a full English on Saturdays. Though I’m gonna drop that soon. Trying to go really veg and vitamin heavy.
I’d like an update on that donner recipe. I do like a good donner.
Happy birthday Richard.
I quite liked it.
I’d love a way to quietly get rid of the herren gills we have on th North Wales coast.
They never bothered me at my house, a few miles in, but now I work almost on the beach, and shit a lover my car all day every day, I’d love to cull the lot.
Also they make a real racket on the roofs in the early hours.
I’ve only just noticed that today Lee.
Is that everyones ip address showing under there name?
Edit-it sure is.
Are you sure he never said he was moving to the South Korea head office? 😉
100% agree. A good 90% of my computing needs are done via my phone.
I once had a laguna that (1.9d)that had a huge tank 75l and would easily get 5pg on thd motorway and 45 around town.
I always failed to see how it was classed more “dirty” than my MIL ka, that got about 40 around and about 30 on the motorway. Not to mention it was a crap car with no extras (windy windows etc…) and cost her 2k for the privalige. Bought my laguna for Renault Bury for £4k 4 years old, eth 46k miles on it. Lasted me 7 years.
I had to have a day off work on Monday, ad I felt like I’d been ran over. Tue and wed felt half decent. Then this morning ili felf worse than I did on Monday. I couldn’t lift cmy head off my pillow!
Only ever drove 2 hydrids, the Rav4h which I liked alot. And the Hyundai ionic which its mpg figures blew me away. Its not the most fun car to drive, but that isn’t its purpose.
Its about the same size as your passat, and will get 70mpg around town with out you even trying. I spent 2 hours in one and tried my best to drop below 60mpg. Drove it like I stole it, and I think it averaged over the 2h 65mpg.
In all honesty, I Sould of gotten one of them over my Leon FR estate. id be about £60 a week better off.
I quite like the idea of a fully lecy car, tesla is ount my price range, but I recon I could live with a Nissan Leaf. Though I’d only get one on lease, as I don’t trust the battery tech in electric cars, and wouldn’t want to be left holding one once the batteries start dying.
An ssd does ‘garbage’ collection so doesn’t need it. Also given an ssd is solid state it doesn’t really matter where the data fragments are on it, as there is no waiting around for the disk head to find said data.
I’ll pass on defragging an ssd. Though I doubt it would do any harm if one did defrag one, just don’t think it wousl do any good either.
I got myself a couple of gen old thinkpad carbon i5/ssd/8gb ram for just over 200. Great buy.
I got another one of these for under 40 quid, had one for years as my portable Netflix machine, and it still chigging along. The new one I got to borrow my DJs collection of music and kareoke stuff, for over trh Xmas period.
It will work on Xbox and PS, I just checked in the coments.
Inside is a WD blue drive, don’t know if that’s a positive or negative. But there you go.

I’ve never the rank of Lance Sgt before. Interesting.
In regards to the ‘line of site’ question, the exersice was named ‘observation and evaluation’ as far as I can remember. Basically figering out how to judge distances and discribe a position.
Ie, 600meter to our 11 clock, 2 figures left of the 3rd tegrath pole. Then some one could plot it on to an os map. You’d either call a fire team Stike or open up on it etc…
Happy new year all
A bit mental that lot. Hope everyone’s holiday went well. And them who never I hope it turns around quickly in 2020
Wow 2020, sounds like a sci-fy.
That’s not the best Christmas at all old chap. Glad youre on the mend, and long may it continue.
One of my customers in October, woke in the night, major chest pains. The daft f-+ker drove himself to the hospital, didn’t even wake his wife. He had a stent in that same night. He was out within 3 days and had a weekly physio to monitor his recovery.
He is “fine” now, but back on the Rolls and 7 pints a day! Where he should of taken it as a warning to change his ways. Healthy eating, less alcohol and a bit of excersise Especally given he is a taxi driver.
With you all the luck, you may want to try that plant based diet that is all the rage atm. Good for losing weight (don’t know if you need that) but it’s got to be packed with vitimains and all thd good stuff. Me and the wife keep meaning to give it a go. But I’d probabaly have some grilled pork steaks once a week, to liven it up a bit.
Given my new working life, my eati g habits are awful now. Prime heart attack material. About 4 or 5 late night takaways a week! And a fair few pints to boot.
I didn’t work tonight but my barmaid locked up at half 4! Weekends are usally almost 2-3am jobs, followed by a kabab.
Hope your OK 🤞
