Maybe so. I had a quick look around the settings, my proxie/faux static ip is still set up, however I noticed the WPS (the easy connect thing) was set to on, and I always have that disabled.
So maybe although it doesn’t auto update, I have I manually hit go. I do get a notification when an update is live.
Strange pixies have been at work.
My girl has a mk1 ka and compared to my lads similar sized pug of the same era the ka feels much roomier. It’s when you get out and step back one step to close the door you realise how small it is. To shit it your basically standing opposite the rear bumper.
I actually love the thing, such a silly little car. I also think the design has aged really well. I think they are quite cool in a strange retro kind of way.
The new new on, mk3, come in a 4 door variant. I can hardly tell it apart from the fiesta now, and I’m a car nerd.
Seems like we could rack up some serious phone bills for google.
To get your contact to show up to 3rd parties, you just select your Home device, from within the ‘phone home app’, then give that home device access to your google acconnt. Making sure your google account has your number.
Then you get a message to your phone to verify.iirc. done this last week it the week before. Short memory.
Yes, but also no or rather different to other services. It is using voip, but all voip services can only call a physical number of you top up the account. Ie skype for instance needs to have credit on it to call mobiles.
If use skype out, you have to register a ‘physical number’ ie 01….. Then all 01 numbers are free to call and recieve from 01 numbers, but mobile and int calls not.
A good cheat is to register a number with the prefix to the area you are calling. So if you call and receive calls from ant may in the USA, register a number that mimics ant Mays area code, then she can call you for free from her landline. (Also good to do for when your kids go away oit of eu)
However, this new google home calling just treats all outgoing numbers as free calls. So I’m a tad baffled.
I hope this is a precursor to google laumcimg there calling network (forgot its name) here, that they have had in the us for about ten years.
I wonder if they would even work for run flats. I doubt it given they work by strengthened sidewalls. So these could be very dangerous, leaving a big hole in the face of the tyre and ultimately would destroy the structure of the tyre, if driven in without noticing at some speed.
It’s a non-starter from multiple danger angles.
Out local traffic wardens hang around our very busy hospital, picking of nin locals that don’t know they can’t park in a certain area of the road outside.
It’s very unfair, as unless you stop and ask one why they ticket that spot, you’d never know. Every day they ticket 50 plus people.
A scam.
10s to sixty in such a small car will feel quick .
I have to ask, how often is tour mum having two rugby players in the car! Lol.
The twing is almost a Porsche ?
The ignes! id point her towards the new 2 or 4 door Ka, vw up, skodas city go, Or an entry level swift, fiesta or corsa, if she wants to go up in size slightly. I’m a fan of most of the city cars, though more the sportier offing. At heart i like a small hot (warm) hatch.
I’m a big fan of the outgoing 2 door sport. (Thinking man’s mini). I’m still not sold on the new rounder swift. It’s nice enough, but it takes away from its sporty look.
If you have two numbers in yoir wife’s contact box, make sure you specify they type of number via the drop down box. Ie home, mobile, work, fax, or even under other you can write in a prefix(my girls phone i have giff gaff)
So when you want to call your wife on your home phone it would be ‘ok google, call wife home’
If for some reason you still have issues, make a new contact called home. ‘Ok google, call home’
If your driving i find it works better if you mute the radio and cost the window, thou i never mute the radio until they answer, so its not a must.
On a related note, google home was updated last week, and will now make calls to any number, trumping Amazons calling feature just between echos only. It’s really useful.
Screens shots and post to on twitter with sky hashtag. Only way today is to shame them publicly.
Sky was always a pita to speak to. So this doesnt suprise me. At least youre not paying to be on hold. (Silver linings….)
My pixel and 6p, plus the wife’s P9 are excellent. Also we are big users of Google home, that to is excellent.
I text a lot while driving with the hands free, eg “ok google, text dorris mobile, i’ll be home in 5 mins” etc..
I’m a heavy voice user.
We have an echo also, it’s just as good as the google recognition but i find the google fits better for me, given I’m neck deep in the googleverse!
I missed your posted bob. Fingers crossed for you.
Id of liked to of been a civil servant in the days of the empire. Seemed a good gig.
We are forecast snow at the weekend, but atm its 12° and sunny. Almost summer weather ?
When I went on my JB you tube adventure over Xmas, that was the first one I was linked too. Was it you that posted it? As i can’t remember how my adventure got started. I may of stumbled across it, as you do when you go down the yt rabbit hole, but that would be one big coincidence.
I don’t get that either bob. Actually, I’m the opposite. Adults that use zebra crossing when its not need bug me. Crossing are for kids, the old, the disabled, or for very busy roads, most roads a healthy adult can just cross with out the need to slow traffic.
However when people walk half way across the road (which I do), when on side is clear, and wait until the other side is clear, and time their walk, to just pass the back of a car, I always get this childish urge to dab my breaks, so they bump into the car. Obviously I wouldn’t, as it could scratch or dent my car. But oh the urge is so strong.
However I think the way I described above is a perfectly adequate way to cross a road. Health adults don’t need a crossing unless its rush hour, or a duel carriageway set up type road.
I did say in my post there was not thermostatic control, and that I was and have added one. But I had all the bits. I used a £5 sonoff in-line smart stitch and linked it to the £5 xiaomi smart thermostat.
However at no point in the description does it say it has a heat control. I never expected one. It just says it only works when rad hot, I took that as meaning it doesn’t have an electric element. Given the other more expensive one say thermostatic controller. I don’t see any false advertising at all.
As to covering the whole top, I suppose that would be better, but defo not a necessity. The one I have covers a 3rd of the top and fires out a lot of heat. It’s like turning a hair dryer on.
The smart mod isn’t needed, it’s just nice. You could just use it by turning it on 5 mins after you put the heating on. And tbh I need to set a parameter in my ‘smart control’ to turn it off after 30 mins, as it gets the room too hot if it’s constantly on the whole time the rad is hot. Easy enough to do just not round to it.
Now its gotten warmer, we haven’t had the hearing on this week. And’s its not like my house is a new well insulated and sealed home. The windows have been open through the day too. I think a cold snap is incoming at the weekend, so I can fine tune the smart control then.
I could use a second thermostat (i have a bag full) placed away from the rad to trigger an off/on command to regulate the temp, and the first thermometer that is sruck to the rad to be the master on off command.
I just a need cold day to mess with it.
I have thermometers set up already as I have them set up to monitor the tortoises house. I want through a hat full of makes before settling on the xiaomi set up. Their smart ecosystem is excellent I have their smoke alarm, which is great , and I already had their bulbs, and its easy to ties other oems stuff into it. Via ifttt, tasker, elink, and many more making it very flexible. Also everything is a lot cheaper than other smart ecosystems.
Amazing he lived so long. Still a real shame, what he lacked in body, she sure made up wish his mind.
Also Jim Bowen went today. Seen some of his old standup over xmas, I never realised how funny he was. Though his comedy is defo of its time.
Looks like United may of put a little too much effort into the weekends game. ?
I don’t care to protest trump. However id protest our current PM in that way.
More snake oil. For me.
