Steve, the problem with ‘Google Stuff’ is knowing where the data goes and what is done with it. Large data crunchers do not just spit out the same data that they were fed, they also make inferences. It was the inferences (e.g. floating voter) that were sold by Cambridge Analytica. Unlike actual data you have no right to see what has been inferred about yourself, and no say on how long such data is held or used.

I don’t worry about it ed, It’s just not worth it.

Richard, that line is ever moving. Ten years ago if i told you (or you me) how much data 3rd parties would track, id of laughed at you. So i now accept the line will forever move, and bit by bit we all will surrender more and more.

Give an inch, take a mile……

And talking of analytics etc… I’d much prefer targeted adds than scatter gun adds. Everyone wins with targeted adds.

Set you accuracy to high, if you want a better track. It will eat a bit more battery though.

Very strange it still refused to install . I’ve never seen that happen before. Maybe because the dialer has long tentacles in to the os, it just isn’t comparable.

Sorry. There is loads out there, I’m sire you can find some.

Given every accident, attack, etc…. Is different. There will always be new issues. It’s about having a standardises plan of action drilled into the first responders, and then give them the authority to adapt on the ground as they see fit.

It’s not a new concept, its how all commandos are trained. A plan is only useful until the first contact, then its useless. As long as your well drilled I’m the basics and have a brain to think, act and overcome, and most of all have the authority to execute orders on the ground, a lot of these time-related issues wouldn’t be issues.

These police swat teams are very well drilled, as are fire officers, I’m sure the two sergeants on the scene, can coordinate between themselves there, then some managers I’m an office 100milea ways. Pronaltball I’m different offices all needed it sign off multiple times before a man on the ground can fart.

The legacy of Tony Blair, red tape and anal health and safety procedures.

The first responders would have top leave military level training. Maybe the TAs aroid the country should be the first response. Train in fire assessments and crowd logistics.

I’m just thinking outside the box. But surely the men on the ground should be the ones that direct the play. All while being in contact with the head office, to feedback what he and his men are doing and where.

I’d treat large fires and attacks like a military manoeuvre

If he is never going to leave the house with his tablet, put hang outs on it. And he can use that to call/video call and text you.

Or better still, set up push bullet on his mobile, and on the tablet, and he will receive all text (sms) on his tablet, and/or PC. It’s seamless once set up. I use PB on all my devices.

I don’t know what dialer 1+ now uses since their split with cm.

The baked in version of TC on CM was better than the standalone app. Or was when i moved from the 1+1 to my nexus 6p a few years ago. I can’t recall what was better, just that it was. Still i think the app  is one of the best out there, bit only if you want the full benefits of TC service. If your not bothered about that. I think the stock google dialer is good.

I listen to a few football related podcasts, mostly Liverpool related, and every week they have people on form all over the world, that have come to see anfield. What amazes me, is how many overseas supported groups there are, and how fanatical they are to boot.

People moan about ‘forign supporters aren’t real fans etc…’ I find it thr opposite. If they are willing to get up at 5am on a sat or Sunday  to watch some meaningless league game, and wag work to watch euro games, they are good enough for me.

Plus Everton fans like to ‘brag’ there supported are from liverool, i like to reply, “once your good you may to get some more supporters”

Its a total myth too that more liverpublicans supports the Ev, its not true. The true bit is more of the Ev supporters are scouse compared to thr percentage of liverpool supported. Given we have a world wide fan base. So they don’t get their ‘peoples club’ PR moto, actually means, we are not good enough to have a larger fan base.

Also Ev fans in general are a pessimistic bunch. Such a bitter crowd.

Also they said yesterday there new ground will cost north of 500b and it will only have about the same capacity (45k). The Ev fans heads are starting to fall off over this.

Also they are asking the council for 280m loan, to fund the build, (the current mayor is a big blue so was pushing hard) now he has been told it needs to go to a vote. Fingures crossed more reds comcillors are at that vote. Lol.

Any cheap dongle or card will work. I love bt ears used 5hem now for about 3 years. Gone though about 6 pairs of teotronics £15 to 20 sets. 6 may sound a lot, but i use earsphomes about 16h a day, and the wire always wears quick or worse still the aux port.

Also when on a PC, I’ve often jumped up to answer the door forgetting to take the cans off. The wire would push everything offy desk before lassoing the fans off my head. So bt is a great opinion for all that don’t want super high-end audio.

Currently have a pair of teotronic stiffed in my lugs now. Not only do they sound decent, have a good 7 hour run time, but when off, they really block out the sound of the house. So i can concentrate on work. Currently handy for Easter break.

True caller dialer app shows your favourites first when you enter contacts. Though it’s a list not a grid.

Then when your favourite list ends the rest starts in alphabetical order.

My favourite dialer is the stock one, but as i use TC it works out nicer to use there dialer too. Also more often ten not when inputting new phone numbers it auto populates peoples names and carrier which freaks a lot of people out. Which i love seeing.

Cm mod used TC as its default dialer .

I forgot this was on, i like Italy so id of probably watched it. Bit i was hoping for an English loss. Just to watch thr press’s heads fall off, about how England can’t beat a non qualified team.

Half my issue with England is the press, every two years we get all this hype about englang are going to do well as it’s their “rightful place” no its not! There place is squeekimg out the groups, its what they do. Its ehst they always do. We should look at anything more as a bonus and a good comp.

But oh no, the press tell how good we are, or should be, then ridicule the team for not getting to the semis.

My other dislike of England is they are crap, and i just don’t relate to them anymore. The welsh maybe rubbing off on me…..

I don’t see the issue with google stuff, its not like they hide this stuff from the user. Time line i use quite a lot in fact.

It came in very handy a few years ago when i was wrongly arrested and was asked where i was on such a date. I used my google TL to tell them where i was and the times, then the police man got on his radio and confirmed that with roadside cctv. I thought that part a bit suspect tbh, but he said yes, your cars reg was seen around the area i claimed.

All this was done is under 3 mins sat at the side of the road. Modern tech ay.

Inline with this thread, last week i finally got round to starting 1984. Not far in, but i don’t think illake it to the end, but i’ll try and push through.

Yesterday the US signed into law ‘the cloud act’.

They haven’t addmited yet, nut this seems to be more of a treaty than your average law.

It gives the us rights to demand info from any servers out side of the us. Also it givesvselect foreign countries access to us servers. All without warrant.

To me is smells of legalising what they had pre prism leak.

Remember the days when a government was there to work for its people. Now we are seen as little bags of cash to be squeed and all guilty of something.

That is true in today’s world where cars all all but identical. If they get given a standard safety cell, and let do whatever they want. Everyones cars could wildly differ.

I’m just spitballing some ideas that could at the least shake ot up.
